Hey, maybe they could take a little bit of a break and build a sandcastle. It would be therapeutic, right? And they could get to know each other a bit more. Teamwork and all that stuff. In the end, Reine spent a few minutes gazing wistfully at the beach, because they'd all decided to give the forest another try. Maybe they could celebrate after they'd caught the monster, by building sandcastles! Or just snowmen, because Reine wasn't sure she wanted to get lost forever in the forest just to try to find her way back here.

Was anyone else having this much trouble? Candace sighed and trudged on, occasionally shaking snow off herself until suddenly she was hit in the head with a snowball. Who did that?! No one would fess up.
Clearly the only solution was to have a battle royale style snowball fight. Every man for themselves.
Okay so maybe this wasn't so bad. But they probably scared the creature off. Aria was going to be piiiiiissed...

And then SUDDENLY she was sure she saw the creature again!
Was that it? It had to be it, right? It looked like a bear, and it was hiding in the foliage! Reine squinted, waving to the rest of her groupmates to come over and check it out, because IT WAS TIME. TIME TO CAPTURE THIS THING and head home!
Except it seemed the monster had caught sight of them first, and by the time she'd gotten the rest of the group's attention, it was gone.

Reine was suddenly aware that she was alone. There was a curious rustling around her, and whimpering, she backed up against a tree and summoned Alynthe. No way she was going to go down that easily!
"I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU," she yelled, at nothing in particular. And then she looked up, because things always came from above when you least expected them to. And also from below, but usually above was scarier. There was nothing visibly threatening, but Reine didn't let down her guard as she stealthily moved around, attempting to find her group.
It was by pure luck that she hadn't hurt Eva, when she bumped into the other girl from behind- all her friend got was an ear-piercing shriek, followed by a look of recognition, and then Reine sobbing into her bosom and wailing "I MISSED YOUUUU."

They finally found the creature after all this time, and holy crap, was it ever angry! Eva was sent stumbling back from the blow, but she regained her balance quickly enough and immediately summoned Chara, lashing out with the blade.
"Ugh, this thing...!"

It was tougher than expected, and it hit hard. Reine all but threw herself at it and slashed, but the monster's paw swung out at her, smacking her into the ground. Coughing a little, Reine struggled to stand.
They could do this.

Jerry gave a mighty wail of terror as THE THING CAME RIGHT AT THEM. And then he did what Jerry did best in times of crisis and panic: He shot wildly. A few of the shots actually hit the thing, too.

It came charging at them. This must have been the angry beastie Aria referred to. Yes, of course Candace would find the one that found out about the tags. Of course.
