Crown could almost sence there was more than just her words revealed but he did not push it, instead he chuckled, "Sounds... romantic. Only you could literally 'catch' your future mate." He said, nuzzling her softly and playfully. "Perhaps I will have to get you to catch me one someday." There was a soft longing with his words, their bother Paris had any mare that would accept him, a slut as far as Crown was concerned, and quiet Eden had found her partner to continue the dance of life with... that just left him. The problem? He wasn't sure what he wanted!
A mare had never caught his attention, but he had found his gaze lingering on stallions when he ventured to the courtship field in the summer where members of different herds and travellers wandered to in search of a mate, it had always freaked him out so he would leave before exploring the notion..... part of him couldn't accept that he may not be conventional when it came to matters of the heart. So instead, he had thrown himself into his training to become a protector, and now stood one of the youngest to ever be accepted into their swelling ranks.

Eden grinned. "Just say the world and I'll set one up for you, its the least I could do for accepting this so easily..." Resting her head against his side again and sighing as they stood together. Her brother had reacted but had coem around. Her mother had herd the word Kalona and.... Eden had seen the look in her mothers eyes, her mother, she had thought her mother at least would have known better than to judge just on a breed, she herself wasn't exactly normal for her breed.

Crown kissed her head again, "Perhaps it is time I sought a mate hey.... at this rate I will be lonely, you have Orion, Paris... well you know him, even our cousins seem to have all found someone." Sophia, the youngest of the six was now mated to Kristan, and her brothers had their own lovers. He signed, suddenly feeling very isolated and alone.
He looked to the sky for a moment, trying to think of something else to say when he looked to Eden and saw the almost sadness hidden in her eyes. "What's wrong Eden?" She had not told him of the conversation with their mother so he knew nothing that troubled her.

She nuzzled him. "Whoever you choose will be very lucky to have you, and they better treat you right because if they don't I'll make a trap that has them dangling from a tree by a hoof." Only half joking, if someone hurt her brother her wrath would be terrible... there would be no leave in peaces, there would be no peices left. Pondering how to tell him about their mothers reaction.... "I told Mum about Orion...."

Her words had him laughing again, he loved her quite fire, not everyone saw that about her... of course not many tended to spend time with Eden, she would rather be on her own, pondering and inventing, but he liked to bring her back to reality every now and then, remind her of family, love and hope.... of course it seemed he didn't completely need to do that now did it? "I will be sure to warn hi-" he paused, he realised he went to say him! coughing softly from the mistake he found himself continiuing the sentance, using the word 'them' rather than a gender specific version. "-them then."
He was almost thankful for her next words, as he used them as a distraction, though at first he didn't notice the quite sadness that lingered in her words. "You told her hey? What she say? I bet she was happy..... but..." He nipped her ear, "I suppose the question is... why didn't you tell me?"

"It was only a couplke of days before you found out anyway.... and Yes she was exstatic about it till I said Kalona... she then got htis look, the 'OMG its going to eat my baby! Kill it!' look..... I just expected mum.. Of ALL people to be more accepting... I'd have told you as soon as I saw you, but... Her reaction..." Shaking her head, her mothers reaction had hurt, and hurt deeply... Her father, she had expected something liek that from him, even Paris.. but her mother had thrown her. It had undermined her Joy of the news, and not wanting to see that look on anyone elses face she had not said anything else to anyone.

Ah..... now Crown understood, he also understood why she had snapped him when he had called Orion a Kalona and told her to get away from him. Of course, he also knew something about their mother than maybe Eden didn't, he wasn't sure he was supposed to know, their mother had been talking to him once, he had been pretending to be asleep so the words she had spoke were possibly just intended for the air, to get them out.... that was why he hasn't said anything to her about known, nor had he told anyone.... but maybe he should?
He took a deep breath, "Don't blame mother." He knew until he explained that Eden would get the wrong impression from those words, but he truely wasn't taking sides. "Did Mother ever tell you what she was running away from when she was a child? What had hunted her, Aunty Alice and Uncle Jasper?" Part of him felt guilty, it wasn't his secret to tell after all.... but this was Eden, the one person in the world that he loved beyond all others! He took a deep breath and looked away from her, unable to look at the look that possibly upon her face. "It was a Kalona, who believed that he could eat her and absorb her power." He frowned, "So maybe your news just threw her?" He felt like he was making excuses....
He added, "I don't think she knows that I know, she had been upset one day, she had believed me asleep and had been saying things like 'I hope they never come here for us... how could I ever lose you Crown, or Eden or Paris?' ....so....eh....yeah."

Eden shook her head, her mother had never said much of anything about the past to her. But then she hadn't asked either, she tended to not ask personal questions. People told you what they wanted you to know. "There are all kinds in the herd though... surely by now she knows that not all are tarred with the same brush."

Crown did agree in part with Eden's thinking, "You would think so....but I guess not." That said there was no one in the herd that looked like a Kalona, not to Crown's knowlegde at least. "Go easy on her, I am sure she will come round? Plus.... also that matters is that I am happy for you hey?" He winked at her, nudging her playfully in an effort to distract her.

Nuzzling him. Yes, its very important to me that you, at least, are happy for me... I was starting to worry that maybe I'd have to choose between family and Orion..." Her voice shaking a little, showing how had that choice would be for her.

Crown shook his head, "Mother will come round, and I will never abandon you." He kissed her head again, he hoped that she stood by her word and would never abandon him either, though in his heart he knew she wouldn't.
He took a deep breath, perhaps it was time to voice his concern... and distract her from her current train of thought. "Eden... I.... eh.... I....." He found himself laughing, the sound innocent and true... how in the world was he meant to say it out loud when he hadn't allowed himself to think the words yet? He closed his eyes and tried to think. Maybe now wasn't the time after all?

She looked at him and nuzzled him gently, her eyes concerend and loving. "If you want to tell me something Crown, its ok, you can tell me. I won't tease you." She had never teased him. She also hadn't missed his slip earlier, she just hadn't called him on it.

He took a deep breath and looked down at her, his big sister whose heart was pure gold -if you could only get close enough to see it. Deep down Crown knew her words to be truth but it didn't make it easier, He took a deep breath and just spoke the words, blurting them out almost as if he feared if he didn't they would never leave his mouth.... "I think I like stallions." Of course the moment he said it he realised she may take that wrong, flustered he started saying; "Not Orion tho... not that theres anything wrong with him... but well, yeah, he's yours.... so yeah, no threat there..... gah..... why is this so hard." He mumbled the last part and looked away, his cheeks on fire with a rose blush.

Eden supressed a chuckle, thinking it would make him retreat if she laughed, though it was because he was being so cute about it. She nuzzled him though, her tone light, as though he had commented on the weather. "Yes Orion is mine, so don't go there... But least I know what to try and catch in that trap now."

Crown winced as she mentioned the trap, "Oh God....." The blush wouldn't leave his face, he had never admit this to anyone, not really even to himself. "....what am I going to do...." he sighed and slumped to the ground, his wing slipping off Eden's back to join him on the ground. "Not like I can just go walking up to any stallion.... and... well you know...." He shut his eyes. Part of him wanted to roll into a ball... maybe he should try again with mares? Though none had managed to turn his head so far. He let out a breath, his eyes opening slightly so that he looked at the ground before him.
After a moment of silence he added, "Don't tell though..... not yet anyway.... I.... don't want people to laugh."
