Metis hadn't been able to help the smile that sparked to *********> remark. No, if Metis could spot the guardian's energy so far away, undoubtedly something else would notice it as well. A smart move, really. Had anyone had such a thought before?
The sound of footsteps made her turn, blinking once at the smaller form that approached her. Egeria was a chibi senshi? She smiled at least to the blue-haired girl. "It's good to meet you then, Egeria. I'm Metis." Not that her smile lasted long. The question about the Negaverse had her hand resting on her forehead for a small moment. How many of them would leave a child in peace? Iris' answer sounded about right to her, and she certainly hoped the girl would take the warning to heart.
As the others arrived, she gave a nod of greeting to Parthanope--though his question had her frowning a good bit-- and one to Hygiea but Eunomia and Victoria got confused looks from the blind girl. They were new. Victoria especially had her staring. A boy? Another boy. Oh goodness. At least she hadn't heard questionable things about him like she had for the other boy on their team. Mentally, she made a note to meet the three scouts on hopefully better terms, once this youma business was taken care of for the evening. New faces could hardly distract her from the black aura around the area.
Irene got a warm smile from Metis when she arrived, though ********* handled introductions before she could respond. And then things took a rather big shift. "*********> Her eyes went wide to see the outline of an object jutting from the girl, and the sudden shift back to feline form. When Hygiea moved to the guardian, Metis took a stance between the younger girl holding the cat and the gathering youma. "Hygiea, can you tell how bad the injury is?" Of course, then *********> told the girl to focus, making Metis bite her lip. She had a point. Eight youma on their hands. Eight... rather human looking ones. This at least explained the amount of black waves... her stomach churned at the sight of them. One in particular, Fortuna, made her uneasy. Was it... looking at her? Goodness, why?
That laughter didn't help her.
Nor did the realization Iris was charging one of them. Her hand rose to her tiara, intent on using her attack to help give the blonde an edge, but paused. Needla was circling them, and then there was that rather large minotaur looking one... and the one with the large eye. So she waited. Who would make the next move? To Irene she said, "Try to stay close." She wasn't sure separating was such a good idea, but there were so many....

Parthenope barely had time to wipe the disinterested look off of his face when ********* just short of dropped to the ground. What the hell was going on? Before he even had time to react, Iris was already charging towards whatever had attacked the cat and they were surrounded by a group of what could only be described as youma. Not just 1 or 2 but 8. It wasn't a comforting notion considering that one was his attack incarnate. There was on thing that tar did and did well. It would be a great ally to the opposition.
He took a step closer to the advancing line. It wasn't like he could really do at this point. "You need to stop this, Iris! We don't even know what they do!" It was like listening to a scratched CD. Just when you think it was going to play all the way through, it skipped back to the beginning of the first chorus. Parthenope made a loud sign of that was a wonderful mix of frustration and the inevitability of failing miserably. Knowing that his abilities would do nothing to help the downed cat, he rushed after their leader to fast them. Not quite as quickly, as Parthenope didn't want to die just yet but anything to help. Patience may have been a virtue but it was a curse when you enraged leader runs off. Maybe he'd be able to figure out how to stop them from getting any closer. His specialty was tar after all. Even if this 'Terra Firma' was totally immune to his tactic then it would be worth fighting one on one.
It would be easy.

Egeria ran to *********> as Hygiea scooped her up. "Can you heal her?" Egeria looked at the cat and listened as she told Hygiea to pay attention. Only then did Egeria look at the youma that had decided to surround them.
"Whats wrong with them?" She asked any of her team the question and was talking about the weird names they all said not that she made that clear in the slightest.
She stepped closer to Hygiea and watched as the girl like youma headed towards her, chanting it's name Cherie? she thought that's what it said anyway. It had big inflatable balls and was juggling with them. She glanced at some of the other youma and stepped a little closer to Hygiea and ********* like one of those traps you see in films..."

Even though Irene had met most of the team in civilian form, she hadn't seen everyone powered up and ready for action. She was grateful for ********* introductions, paying keen attention and nodding as each name was said. When the cat stopped mid-intro, she frowned, then shrieked when she saw the cause and, even more distressingly, the blood seeping into her clothing.
Facing one youma was difficult enough for Irene, whose ability was completely unsuitable for combat and who had very little knowledge of how to fight. The prospect of facing eight, even with her team assembled and ready, made her queasy. These weren't easy youma either, judging by the looks of them and the way they knew to surround their targets. She stared at the one that seemed to be closing in on her, Needla, and automatically took two steps back. Getting anywhere near something like that was not anywhere on Irene's to-do list.
She looked up at Iris, hoping for some kind of instruction, but their captain just charged straight for the youma that had hurt *********. So much for leadership, she thought, biting her lip. At least Metis was paying attention to her. "Okay," she replied shakily, standing far closer to her teammate than convention called for. "What... what do we do? Should we be doing... that?" Irene was referring to what Iris was busy with, following her question with a gulp.

Hygiea might have been distracted, but Kanna's eyes never wavered. She seemed impossibly calm, patient, watching with a cold detachment that was fitting for something that should have been a stupid, walking pile of dust. But something in the way she watched seemed to indicate that there was more going on under that wooden mask.
When the cat seemed to notice her, the plant youma finally moved. She was not a tree, and was not rooted to the ground after all. Her feet, or rather her vines, moved forward with a sudden lurch, and she wrenched the vines that made up her arms like two thick, multi-tailed whips. Her aim was not for the cat that had noticed her, but rather the small senshi she had been watching.
The human arm, clearly not attached to a person any more, went flying just in front of the vines, and smacked into Hygiea before the groping, strangling vines did.
Jadger was not going to be ignored, or even only partly noticed. She would settle for nothing short of her opponent's full attention. It was the only way to hunt something that was smarter than she was: and she understood that she was on the shallow end of the intelligence pool. That didn't matter to her: she had other skills at her disposal. Skills she never failed to make full use of.
Skills Eunomia was going to be quickly introduced to. The youma charged again, but this time she didn't stop. Her claws extended, razor sharp and powered by strong, evenly muscled arms, she hissed viciously, crying "Jaaagder!" as she leaped on the senshi, claws digging into Eunomia's shoulders as she pulled the senshi to the ground with her.
Chamela watched Iris and seemed to keep her grin steady almost out of spite. She hissed through her teeth, a lizard like tongue flashing out between an unseen gap before vanishing back behind the dangerous rows of teeth. How she managed not to bite her own tongue off was anyone's guess.
When Iris charged her, Chamela squealed with glee, a sharp, cutting sound that rent the already hiss and growl filled air around the stirring battle. Her eyes swung almost a full 180, each one in different directions, and she ducked down when Iris got close enough, her tail lashing out and striking forward like a scorpion.
Needla wanted Irene to look at her, running around as she was, trying to get the senshi to attack her, but her efforts were failing. She was not blessed with a particularly expansive attention span, and her eyes quickly sought another target to fill in her time for her.
Maybe a demonstration of her skill was in order... except she didn't have skills to demonstrate.
"Need need!" Needla bellowed when she spotted Metis sparing her a glance and saw that Irene was looking too. If a youma were capable of feeling joy, Needle felt it then. That saved her having to actually come up with plan B! The needle covered youma ran forward, though she was loathe to get close instead of drawing her prey to her, and she dove to the ground as she was approaching Irene. She curled into a ball and began to roll, needles spraying forward at the senshi, as well as anyone who was standing close to her. The needles had small barbs at the ends, which made them painful going in as well as out. Needla, only instigating, scrambled out of the ball and scurried back to the outer rim she had been prowling before.

[ I'm so so sorry about the wait, guys; had a sudden RL crisis occur x__x;; ]
The black goo that dripped, sticky and stiff, from Terra Firma's lithe, feminine body closely resembled that of a tar-like substance. The youma lifted one black hand, her arm sagging and stretching, the weight of the tar dragging downwards and melting back into her form.
"Terrraaaaa," crooned the youma, moving in slow gestures towards Parthenope, even as he rushed after his leader. "Fiiirrrmmaaaaa..."
The creature's body shot forward, elongating and stretching, leaving bits of tar and blackness in her wake as she slipped around her prey, flinging her bodily substance at him.
What might have been a grin stretched across a smooth, faceless head.
"Terrraaaa Fiirrrmaaaa..."
Akeel felt no need to make his presence known; or rather, he did not need the creatures in front of him to see him, only the one to whom he was looking at with his great, ugly head that reared back, a snort escaping thick lips. His mouth opened wide, horribly yellowed teeth that dripped saliva snapping together in a maniacal grin directed towards Victoria.
Perhaps it was the magenta haired senshi that needed a lesson. After all, the rest of the youma had already started to play.
"A...keeeeelllll..."
An ugly, rasped out sound, hissed through a clenched jaw. With a hoarse, horrible roar that echoed around him, the seven foot tall beast drove forward towards Victoria, its massive head slamming into the senshi's chest and sending him careening to the ground with him.
Swaying where she sat in midair, Fortuna made no movement towards the senshi just yet, her hands continually moving around the crystal ball held in her lap as though searching for something. The terribly bright blue eye that sat deep within her pale forehead, however, was fixated upon Metis as though transfixed, its bulbous shape unblinking.
A smile creased her lips, one hand rising to flit slender fingers along her face, smoothing down her neck.
"Fortunaaaaaa..." she breathed. "For...tune....a."
Her hand dropped, fingers pressing against the crystal ball, and there was a dizzying flash of bright white light, the beams careening towards her target - Metis.
"Heee...heee....heee...."
The little girl with the poofy skirt danced from one foot to the other, hopping gaily around her fellow youma with an expression of great delight. One of the balls she held was thrown upwards, the creature catching it easily as she danced towards Egeria, the last of her kind to move.
"Cherrrie?" chirped the youma, as if asking a question, and then laughed, spinning around.
Her eyes turned dark, her grin stretching across her little face, wide and unnerving.
"Cheriee," she grinned, and suddenly bucked her body, throwing the balls in her arms towards Egeria with as much force as possible.

Those buggy eyes were doing exactly as the blonde senshi had expected. They were able to see her coming from a mile away, allowing the youma plenty of time to dodge out of the way. And in turn, Chamela had managed to launch her own counter attack. Before the eternal senshi was able to react, she could feel the same sharp object that had attached itself to the youma's tail slicing across the bodice of her fuku. It didn't cut deep fortunately, for Iris was able to react quickly enough to prevent further damage, jumping up and over the youma in a manner of getting out of its way. Yet it did leave a very distinct red line across her left side of her white bodice.
Ignoring the slight pain to her side, the yellow suited senshi proceeded to keep moving, as to prevent herself from becoming an easy target. Her path eventually managed to lead her into seeing several of her other teammates also encountering the overwhelming force of the other youma. Since she was unable to pause for a team huddle, the captain soon enough found herself shouting what she could to help the others.
"Do NOT take these youma on one-on-one guys! They're too strong fer that! If ya don't think yer gonna be able t'fight... then get near Irene! If yer still able t'fight... try an' find th'weakest one and attack it. Metis, if yer able to... try an' buy us some time with one of these youma! Use yer magic! Parth-Vader! Watch yer back, and do NOT take on that b*tch! Find somethin' else t'take on that ya can beat up physically!"
There was a pause in her voice as she seemed to notice how she had pretty much been barking out requests and orders to her fellow teammates. Now wasn't the time to be gentle, but she then offered something a little more encouraging. "We can do this, guys! Just keep strong!"
With that, the eternal senshi called out "Iris Rainbow SLICER!" and summoned to her clenched right hand a rather bright rainbow that trailed behind her as she continued to keep herself moving, zigzagging in an effort to make herself a more difficult target. When she felt she was safely away from Chamela's potential wrath, the senshi then whipped the brightly colored rainbow towards Kanna, trying to potentially cut any of the appendages off so it would leave Hygiea alone.

Hygiea wanted to protest against ********* orders, wanting to keep the small cat safe but the small little lectures that the guardian had given her during the little battle games came springing back into her mind. The guardian had also then told her to focus on the enemy and there was Iris' little card as well. The little senshi bit her lip as she took in Egeria's and Metis' questions and concerns.
"What if I healed you and then went back on focusing on them?" She asked the injured cat in her arms. She knew full well that ********* was capable of taking care of herself - how many times had she seen the cat in a fight? But with her injury, she didn't know how bad it was... so if she could help her out even a little.
She didn't get much of a response (though, there possibly could have been one, just her not being able to hear it) when an arm came flying out of nowhere - from her vantage point - and nearly knocked her over. It was like a giant slap really, nothing painful and something she could take but she still winced from surprise and her side still ached. What really got her were the vines that quickly wrapped around Hygiea's small body, encasing her arms and making her squeeze ********* further against her chest.
Hygiea struggled as best she could, to get herself loose even as Iris' attack cut through a few of the appendages. "I really hate not having an attack," she practically whined as she fought to get herself free. Were they getting tighter? She really couldn't tell. "Sorry *********."

It seemed that Hygiea was beginning to focus again, but it was a bit too late at this point. The child was knocked down by Kanna, taking the cat down with her. The chibi senshi was plenty of padding for the cat, so she didn't really feel much of the blow.
"Don't apologize to me, Hygiea!" the cat said from the girl's arms as the vines began to wrap about her. "Don't worry about healing me... I'm well enough... you need to save that for your teammates..." She smiled before extending her claws out again.
"The youma really won't bother me as much now that I don't give off so much energy." As any vines seemed to get close, the feline then began to scratch at them, and even on occasion began to bite at the vines, trying to tug them off of the chibi senshi.

There was a pause when Eunomia hissed at him. "Yeah.... not doing this because I want to run." He said having kept an eye on the minotaur, and after she said well ********> before adding a few light smacks.
He thought his movements were rather well warranted. "I think we need a pla---" he was cut off before he finished and he didn't really hear Iris barking orders either, as he was caught somewhat off guard by being rammed into.
There was an audible crack which came from being hit by the head of a bull and then the thud that came with being knocked onto the ground. However, Vick was damned lucky to have had his skateboard up in a protective manner. He frowned, attempting to kick the monster in the neck to make him move. This had really caught him off his attempts of making plans on the best ones to attack. "Halp?" He whimpered when he managed to get his breath back.

Egeria didn't know what to do! She looked as each of her teammates got attacked in some way or another and she wanted to run and help Hygiea but the noise that Victoria made as he hit the floor made her wince. It was only then she looked to the youma heading her way.
"Bring it on b***h." She had possibly be listening to the words coming out Iris's mouth a little too much recently.
As the balls heading towards her she managed to dodge two but one hit her and knocked her down. Inflatable balls hurt a lot! She could feel her body tingling as it seemed to be stinging somewhat.
She couldn't help but try and crawl over to Victoria, she was sure she heard him cry for help and anyway that youma was powerless now, she had thrown the balls already! Egeria wince as she moved but she was heading over to the newest member of the team. She would rather take on negas then youma any day....

Egeria's question to Hygiea made her shift her stance slightly to look back at the kids and guardian. Hygiea could heal? That was useful! Especially if she could help ********* now... Looking back to the various youma around them, she shook her head to Egeria's second question. "I'm not sure... Though I've never heard a youma speak before. They do seem... very, very odd." Were they just... stronger than the youma she was more accustomed to? Well, that almost seemed like a given. She kept focusing on the black figure that was Fortuna, shivering a little to see that eye still hadn't moved from her. If she would like to survey the battle a little more, Metis would be perfectly fine with that, oh yes.
When Irene moved closer to her, Metis couldn't help but reach out to give the other girl a quick squeeze on the arm. It wasn't much and she didn't linger, but she hoped it gave something of a reassurance to her. "No... Iris and Parthanope can handle themselves," she responded simply, trying to figure out what to do from there. "But we might be better with another method." She had some combat training, but how versed were Irene, Egeria, and Hygiea? ********* was injured... For a moment, the brunette couldn't help but scowl towards Iris having just ran off like that. Horrible idea, just horrible. They needed a plan! And running straight into a fight was not a suitable one in this situation.
Metis couldn't help but add a somewhat bitter thought that it didn't help that she wasn't sure what everyone's magic consisted of. Information like that would be very helpful at a time like this...
Orders barked through the air, and Metis blinked towards Iris. Get near Irene? Well, check for her, but why? Not that she got much of a chance to ask before she heard the blonde call out some directions towards her. She gave a shout back of acknowledgement, and for a moment was intent on sending the blinding orbs at the very youma Iris was trying to dodge. Movement caught her attention though, slicing through the auras and air as Kanna grabbed Hygiea. Her body turned more to try and focus on the tree-like youma. "Oh no you don't! Mi--!!" Her hand had been raised to her tiara attempting to start her attack, blocking some of her face from the oncoming needles from Needla. The moment she felt the sudden sting of the barbs piercing her skin she let out a cry of both shock and pain as she brought her other arm up to shield herself a bit better. In vane, though. Her raised arm seemed to get the brunt, though she felt some digging through her bodice into her side. Metis pulled a couple out, only to discover the difficulty--and extra pain--of that due to the barbs. She hadn't been the only one in the area though, looking to the purple senshi in some alarm. "Irene, are you alright?" Pesky youma! Oh she was going to make the stupid thing pay for this!
Then the minotaur struck, and Metis wasn't sure who was in worse straights, Hygiea or Victoria. But Iris just sent her attack at the arm. And the big brute might be a more difficult problem than these more annoying ones... right? The teal and black senshi gave up trying to remove some more of the barbs for the time being, but something. Wasn't. Right. The youma with the many layers was speaking. Somewhat. Metis looked her way again, confused by why her hands had stopped moving, when she quickly let out a somewhat strangled shout. The light beams from the flash... they were energy. The moment the energy struck Metis, her magical vision went into a jumbled mess of white on white on... well, you get the idea. "W-what is... I can't see!" Somewhere in the back of her mind, she was aware of the irony and potential confusion of her words. The blind girl was blind. "Blasted youma, I can't see anything!" As bad as the darkness that was her physical sight, Metis shook her head vigorously trying to clear her vision, or her somewhat swimming head. Nothing! Her heart raced, empty eyes moving somewhat frantically. How was this possible? It was the first time she'd encountered something like this, and the middle of battle was hardly the time for her to take a breath and try to put her lessons to work!
Her hand searched for an ally, trying to find Irene or perhaps one of the others while her other hand went to her tiara. She'd heard Victoria's call for help at least. Metis couldn't just stand there dumb and useless while they were being attacked! Panic was more than a little chilling as she tried to focus, tried to see if she could peer through the energy clouding the magical vision she relied on so much when in this form. Surely she was facing the right direction though... oh please let her be. "Mind's Eye Flare!" It was only after she flung the orbs to where she hoped Akeel was, that she somewhat registered that wasn't her new attack. Well so long as it hit the minotaur, not one of her team, and worked, that was all she cared about right now!
Oh when would all this energy fade....

Eunomia was completely blindsided when Jagder jumped on her. She caught the sensation of hitting the ground before the full pain of the youma's claws in her finally registered in her brain and at first, all she could do was yell out.
It hurt. It hurt so much it brought to her attention just how spoiled she was in terms of physical pain.
Her kneejerk reaction was to attempt to elbow and try to shove the thing off of her, but it felt like forever before she even made contact with the other body, and the claws dug into her flesh felt like they were shredding her even more with all the movement her upper limbs made.
Every movement was frantic and desperate. She just wanted to get back on her feet. And needless to say, she definitely learned a lesson about ignoring and underestimating certain monsters.

From personal experience, Irene knew that Iris could take care of herself. If Metis said that Parthenope could, then she believed it. And though she had done better than expected in the duels their captain had made them participate in, she was still relieved that they weren't expected to rush in like that. Not that Irene didn't think she could handle things, she told herself. She just didn't think she wanted to handle them quite that way.
Then she heard her name, and looked towards Iris again. Why was she in charge of the non-fighting group? Just because she wasn't as experienced in beating people up didn't mean she had to stay back! "I'm fine!" she called out, setting herself against the youma that was advancing on her. A few things from her practice battles had stuck with her. As Needla lurched towards her, Irene lowered herself to the ground, getting ready to trip the youma up.
It wasn't a bad plan, until Needla began to roll towards them. Panicking, Irene tried to get away. She managed to keep her leg from being impaled on the spikes, but her right side was too close to the barbed ball. She screamed as its spikes scratched her arm and leg, more than a few sticking into her skin. As close as she was to the ground, she could fall back with little additional pain. She turned to look at Needla, which saved her from the worse of the flash that followed, but the light made her vision waver. Everything was covered with hazy black spots and white lights that refused to go away.
Irene tried to call out, to warn her teammates or ask for help, but her voice didn't work. For a moment, she thought her legs didn't either. Are you going to let a dumb monster stop you? she asked herself. It was sheer stubbornness that enabled her to stand again, the spines still sticking out of her arm and leg wiggling as she staggered to her feet. Standing was an improvement, especially considering the state some of her teammates were in. Her own injuries were almost to be expected, but seeing so many others in trouble made her doubt whether they were really up to this task.

Chamela let out a hissed laugh of delight when she saw the blood staining the senshi's clothes. Not enough, not yet, but she would make more of it flow. That was her intention. Cover the Eternal senshi in blood, make her glisten in the moonlight with it.
It wasn't for beauty or for food. It was because she wanted to, and Chamela always did what she wanted, always got what she wanted. Always.
She gave chase after Iris and while the Eternal was attacking Kanna, Chamela launched her tail again, this time throwing the crescent shaped weapon at Iris while she was busy. Iris might want them to focus on other youma and help each other, but the youma did not seem inclined on breaking away from their targets.
Kanna did not approve of the rainbow that sliced through two of her vines, hissing and releasing a few vines from Hygiea's body because they were no longer attached. But pain did not seem to register with her, her face not reflecting even the hissing sound she had made.
Her vines began to grow back into place, and she tightened her hold on Hygiea, lifting her up off the ground and then hurling her at Iris. When it rained it poured, so now the Eternal had a flying chibi senshi and a razor sharp blade heading her way at almost the same moment, which meant Hygiea, or even *********, was in danger of being cut as well.
Kanna moved closer, vines waving, ready to grab hold of one of them again.
Jadger was not going to let go of her prey now that she had her in her claws, and she was getting her instincts out. She ripped and clawed at the poor senshi, pulling back only so she could pounce again.
Now she was playing with Eunomia, as a cat was wont to do. She pulled back and swung her tail behind her, hunched forward and watching the senshi with keen, sharp eyes. She wasn't grinning, didn't look like she was having fun, but in her bestial, instinctive way, she was.
Needla was a short distance from the fray, screeching and laughing, hissing her name and dancing. She wanted someone to come and attack her: she had already risked getting close to them and though it had worked out and she saw the pain she caused she also got very anxious about being out of control. She needed control.
But she was that Irene was ailing, and she had to take her chance. She rushed in again, screeching a long "Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeedla" as she ran, like a crazed battle cry. She had no weapons save her needles, but that was more than enough.
Her goal was to tackle the senshi directly: which would likely been akin to belly flopping onto a large porqupine.
