((Zoot Suit Riot! ))

The little imp was not as alone as he thought, and it wasn't just one fellow shopper staring at him. A short, slim figure in a pinstripe suit with an over-sized coat and hat pulled down almost to his round nose was staring intently across the food court before swaying to his feet, hands in his pockets as he moseyed over.

"Hey, kid. Where's your mummy? You lost? Lil' scareling like you shouldn't be out and about on his own." Look at him, being responsible. His sisters would have been proud of him. If he dumped him in the lost and found, maybe Sandy Claws would be extra pleased with him that year.

((Questage))

"Correction: ghost," Vero replied without so much as blinking at the growl. "Elemental to be exact. Nature." Of course, with so many people about, it would be hard to notice his floating, he supposed. At the reaper's comments, Vero did in fact blink, and more scribbling was had. "Not all small are scarelings," he pointed out in all of his two-foot-one-ness.

The voice behind him startled Alistaire from his inner musings, jumping nearly a foot in the air as he attempted not to drop the bag clutched in his arms. A few feathers drifted away from his hair and fluttered down aimlessly to the ground.

"Er," he said, blinking at the unfamiliar pink ghoul. "Er, I'm not...well, that is to say..."

He looked displeased to be here? He was showing his unhappiness to a complete stranger?

Was that a dark cloud forming over his head?

"I'm sorry to have made a stranger see my inner failings," came the moaned response, Alistaire seeming to sink into a cloud of despair at the very thought. "I'm sorry I'm pathetic to all - "

Something squeaked beside him, and Alistaire jumped again, this time really dropping his bag. A few movies fell out, as well as several receipts - he had intended on returning them, as he had borrowed them from Blockbuster several days prior, but now they were spread out across the floor and scattering every which way.

He dropped down to the ground, hastily attempting to pick them all up.

Clearly not paying attention to his surroundings, Ren had not noticed the boil until he felt him collide with him, staggering back so that the reading glasses he had forgotten to take off slid down the bridge of his nose.

"Er - " said Ren, about to ask if the other was all right, but before he could, there was a loud shout of anger from beside him - apparently he had not been the only person to have been knocked into, and Ren's gaze cut towards the boil standing just a few feet away.

"Relax, man," he said, clearly annoyed, before he looked over at the initial boil who had run into him.

His tail flicked out, slightly confused. "Er..do I know the place to - "

"REEEEENNN!"

Now that was a voice he recognized. A broad smile crossed Ren's face a pair of familiar hands clutched his arm.

"Bells! he said delightedly, and leaned down, pecking a kiss to the witch's cheek. "How are you, my dear?"

"Oh, ghost. As if that makes a difference." He said with a dismissive wave of his claws. Ghost. Monsters. They were all on the bottom of his list anyways, and he continued to sip his drink when he noticed yet another boil staring at him. What was it with everyone? Did he stand out? He supposed so. He was wearing genuine foxfur after all and he doubted such elegant in appearance would crop up everyday in this sort of environment. Not only that, but imps of his type were happier in warmer areas of Halloween. The Maul was practically FREEZING!

When the boil approached, TG had little problem identifying what he was. Reaper. Now that was worth regarding.

Until the boil spoke.

He nearly choked on his drink and shot his vicious, yellow eyes up at the boil. "KID?! I'm NOT a kid. I'm an ADULT." He rose up, standing on the bench as he regarded the reaper, still having to look up. "I'll have you know that my fathers are just as tall as I am and has never once been called scarlings." Then again, his fathers were usually in suits and barely left the office. It also explained why the 'mummy' comment might have been a bad touch.

His spiked tail whipped around behind him, agitated by such disrespect.

((Elden is a Quest))

Elden could watch a pair of lips move for days. In fact, he enjoyed doing so and would often do so with those that reprimanded him back at the village.. but never had he been able to retell what was heard, not unless his large elven ears twitched genuinely with interest.

Which made this situation all the more intriguing. Oh, how his parents would be so proud. The spriggan's stare remained on Malkav's unmoving, a hint of question lifting his golden brows and tilting his head. It was a slow rising inquiry, his mind working through what it knew to try and make some sense of it all.

But of course one of the few times he would TRY to understand, nothing stuck. So instead he placed both of his hands on the table and gradually brought himself onto his toes; unhinging his jaws as he lifted closer to Malkav's face, only to yell
"RaPUnzEl!" once near enough.

The shout was horribly obnoxious and lacked the questionability it should have. But he didn't seem fazed, falling back on the flats of his feet with lips pressed firmly together.

What was a Rapunzel?

((Quest reference))

"Woah woah woah, no reason t'get all hot and bothered, kid!" The reaper cackled, glancing between the two, "It just looks like the Day Scare lost a few of it's wards is all." Fathers, huh? Well, then. "You two go to that School? My sister keeps sendin' me over to their events, but it all looks like malarkey to me. What's the point, really? Noffin' you can't learn with your own scruples." Without being invited, he pulled out a chair to sit casually. It was nice being surrounded by fellas actually *shorter* than him. "Personally, I'm hear shoppin' for my sisters. You guys don't have any idea what sort of crap ghouls like, do you?"

Alette frowned deeply back at Ren before replying

"I am calm considering I was just run into without a word or pause to make sure I was okay. For the second time." He grumbled in annoyance before adding, "I should be allowed shouldn't I?"

Not only did they wound his pride, but his face still stung from landing on it.... though the pitifully brooding look on his face from this fact seemed to abruptly vanish - it was his turn! Oh glorious hot cocoa gods - how they honour Al with their presence. He giddily reached out to pay and take his grande hot cocoa with mini martianmallows and whipped scream with that lil powdery cocoa stuff on top.

Carrrefully he shimmied out of line to find a seat to enjoy his drink in peace. Spotting small table with two seats he went over to plop down in one and sit his drink down. Stirring up the contents with a stick as he thoughtfully looked around at all the people.

Amarus could not figure out exactly what the blue thing was, or what she might have done to make it squeak with such a pitch, but she could do little other than stare at him with her blank, silvery eyes. It was a boil, certainly, and she would have said something to him, but he appeared to have scampered off before she could do much other than raise a hand in greeting.

Which left her alone with the boil who she had originally talked to. Whom she did not know what to do about, as he was now... was he wailing? A cloud? What in the jack was happening? Amarus' face didn't betray her own emotions, as she seldom felt anything very strongly in the first place, but she was extremely confused.

"I think if you didn't wail, you probably wouldn't seem pathetic." That was apparently the best she could reassure him. With her Lotus Smoke, she was extremely unused to anyone being so... dramatic. Everyone was usually kind of sleepy, but it made sense that in the Maul her ability would be dulled, if not void, so ... apparently it actually brought everyone a little closer to her level, closer to something she could understand.

She liked that this boil was displaying a lot of emotion, as she could not express emotion on her own very well, but she also didn't really know what to do. Apart from that, she bent down and began to pick his movies and receipts up alongside him. She rested one of her mostly-tangible but unusually cold hands on his own hand, briefly: feather light, and maybe even for a second she could use her lotus smoke to calm him, if she was touching him directly. Not that it would last, even if it worked in the first place. He seemed very decidedly upset.

Still, she addressed him like she would anyone else: "Is this where you were headed, before that strange... boil... squeaking... thing? Does the Maul do something to the mind? Everyone here seems so jumpy." It was her first time out, after all, but she couldn't see why everyone was so upset. She was holding up a receipt off the floor, one he had dropped, when she asked him if that's where he had been headed.

Van didn't even really give the boil he had knocked over a second thought, though he did grin widely when the slightly familiar boil with wings seemed to defend him in a way. Not really defend, per se, but he didn't seem as mad at Van as the other had been. Man, was everyone here so sensitive? Van's energy in such a crowd was boundless, and he was displaying it a little too readily. He did, however, reply to the seemingly despondent boil before the boil in question went to get his drink: "Hey, I run into a lot of boils, you know-- I didn't think I'd knock you over, or something. I'm usually too light to do much damage. Sorry, I guess, you know?"

His tail swished back and forth at an alarming rate, the little chains braided in the thick fur jangling against one another in bits and pieces. He stared at Ren for a second, before the ghoul showed up. She seemed as energetic as he was, really-- Van peered into the bags she had on her arm as she embraced the boil. As she said his name, Van suddenly realized: "HEY, I met you! You and ... that ghoul, the really nice one-- Wow, I'm really bad with names, but I mean, I met you, you were nice to me. Open House. I never really got into the Academy, but I'm still trying-- we played skariokart! Well, we sort of did--" Van took a deep breath, rubbed the back of his neck, and huffed a piece of hair out of his face. He smiled in a sort of embarrassed-by-himself way, his lengthy canines displaying over his lip.

"I don't know you, though," he said to the ghoul, reaching out a hand to shake hers, ideally.

((Malkav is a quest character. ))

Malkav flinched when the boil screamed in his face. He was sure he even felt a slight breeze and heard the chirping of birds or was that the strumming of a harp? Did this creature have a forest in his mouth? Perhaps a little civilization tucked away in the pit of his stomach? It took all his resolve to keep from reaching over to pry the mouth open to get a better look.

"Now now, Rapunzel, I know my ears may not be as large as yours but I assure you, I am not deaf. I suppose I can respect the fact that you want to keep your adventures to yourself. Everyone has their dirty little secrets. Some darker than most, of that I have no doubt...," his voice trailed off and a glazed look came over his eyes. He sat very still for a moment, much like a mannequin or a doll. Then as quickly has he had faded away, he snapped his head back to look at the demon.

"Who are you and what have you done to my food?" He waved his hand angrily over the tiny pieces of nuggets that lay all over the table. What a mess!

The witch flushed a happy pink at the kiss and managed to only squeal a very tiny bit. Before she could really relish the reunion with her dearest gryphon, another boil got huffy with Ren and stomped away to a table. Belladonna dropped her head against Ren's arm and shrugged.
"I'm fine, as always. Doing a spot of shopping." She brought up the bags in a bit of a show and smile. "Annnnddd~ I got your present already. They were having such a good sale on it too!"
The little witch let out a giggle of glee that bordered on being a cackle and then turned to the new boil.

Ooohhh~ What a cute puppy!
"Hi! I'm Belladonna Divine. Second year, witch. You are?" She asked Van with a wide smile as she took his hand and instead of really shaking it, curtsied. "You've played skariokart with Ren? Aw, I haven't played that yet! I've heard its quite a lot of fun. And its got Princess Decay, I love her!"
Not that the witch really played a lot of games to know, but she had played enough to know that the Princess in the game had an amazing dress.

"So! What are you two up to today? Shopping for anyone special?" She wiggled her eyebrows at Ren, certain he had a ghoulfriend in which to lavish presents upon. If she was correct it wasn't Miss Bunny, but instead Miss Fox... The cute red-head she'd been with on The Island.
Er... A sinking feeling gripped the witch's stomach and she instead bounced on her toes and let out a small laugh that would hopefully dispel the ick she felt anytime she thought of that dreaded place.

User Image Today the maul was ELECTRIC. Pepin had never seen it so full perhaps it was time for shopping for late year gifts or something?

Hovering her way in through the crowd she shuffled her way through some cute ghouls and a couple of odd boils closer to her size. It was getting a little cluttered in here and Pepin could not lift herself up enough to get to her facorite railing to be a people watcher from where she was currently standing.

"SCUSE ME, COMING THRU OOP" she blurted as she squeezed her way past a few people and possibly bumping one or two with her booty along the way.

It certainly wasn't the best start to meet someone, but a reaper was a reaper and he afford the boil a very small amount of slack on his part. Eyes narrow, he watched the boil pull up a chair and it seemed that they were going to have a group discussion. The topic, school and ghouls. Not wanting to sit and enforce the idea he was a runaway scarling, he decided to be as tall as he could and lean on the back of the chair and continue sipping his drink.

"I went to one of the events at the school, but it didn't impress me." There had been plenty of fire, but he didn't see any reason to go to the school. "There is nothing I can't learn from tutoring and actual experience." He'd rather have a job at his father's banks than go to school to be frank. Still, they were seeing it as an essential stepping stone to his development and a test to how he would deal in the real world and seeing if he could apply his own knowledge to gain his own funds.

He sipped his egg-grog in thought before he went to the easier subject of ghouls. "Real Estate. Jewelry. Vacations. Those usually sell them. Women know a price tag." He pointed out, glancing around. "Try Jaded Jewelers."

There was a difference as far as Vero was concerned, but if the imp was going to adamant about it, then so be it. Though it was interesting to note that others also had multiple fathers; another note made! "Which school?" he asked the taller boil. "Amityville, we assume, as there are several of its students here. Or perhaps Hades High? In either case, we do not go to them."

So people came here to . . . buy gifts? The hive's seasonal traditions were different. Sparring for dominance was usually around this time, followed by the lavishing attention of an interested ghoul. Presents could help, he thought, but one had to be careful; even a gift could be seen as bribery, which not many vespians took light of. "We do not know. We have never been to this maul," Vero added, antennae twitching to catch every sensation, every scent.

They twitched in the spriggan's direction when he yelled something, but what it was the ghost did not know.

"We suggest . . . ribbons?"

Freya was on a mission. She had picked up her friend Lattice from the dorms, and stormed headfirst to the Maul as soon as she heard about the sales going on today. She knew exactly what she needed to buy, especially after that last night with Herryk.

And she was going to get the fluffiest, most ridiculous, best foxfire the pet store had to offer.

"Faster, Lattice, faster, I don't wants them to be sold outs!" She chirped, hopping from one foot to another as she tried to drag her friend forward.

Lattice had agreed to go along with very little prompting from Freya. It was time with Freya. Freya time was always a wonderful time as far as the ghoul was concerned so when Freya picked her up she went and was now moving along after the blonde Valkyrie with a small smile on her lips.

"I am moving as fast as I can," she said quietly, "I am sure they will have plenty," she assured gently but still she quickened her pace for Freya wanting to make her happy. "The best one will be waiting just for you to come pick it up," she added as additional reassurance.
