"With great power, comes great responsibility," Deryk nodded slowly as he quoted Spiderman. Though, he wasn't sure how much of a power it was to be able to see the baddies. It wasn't like... flight or super strength or laser vision or any of the other 'real' powers.

Tooley had a point there.

"Hmm.. don't think we have any tvs at all around here. If we do, that's news to me! But maybe the facility has some sort of thing for us to do outside of missions and training and other work. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy," he frowned, "I think there's a library though. Not sure what sort of books it has. Might just be all boring stuff. Who knows. Might be worth checking into sometime."

Minvera blinked.

She looked sort of confused. Again.

But that quote.. it sounded soo familiar! She just couldn't remember where on earth she had heard it said. However, instead of obsessing over it she nodded in agreement and left it at that. It was true, no matter who Deryk was quoting.

"Yeah I haven't seen any either." Moving on with the topic changes. "I've only passed the library myself, even though I love to read. It's just.. ever since I got here I've sort of been obsessed with this whole.. bonding thing." One of her hands lifted to brush against one of two armbands, fingers sliding across the coiled, golden piece of jewelry which wrapped around each of her limbs. "Her name is Blythe, she's been pushing me to tell you ever since, well." She gestured toward the door with a smile. "She doesn't exactly approve of the zombie games we mentioned earlier, but I think she said she's read a few comics back in her hometown? When she was alive.. or, un-alive? I'm not sure what you'd call it." The woman laughed, and in her head Blythe seemed to be equally amused.

But now that she had brought up the subject, Minerva shifted around in an attempt to spot Deryk's weapon, or his weapon de-materialized form, if anything. Curiosity was brimming in her hazel eyes, fluttering back up to the other trainee with her lip sunk between her teeth. "How has that been going for you? The whole weapon in the mind thing?"

At the mention of the weapons, Deryk looked at the armbands she had. Ah! So that must have been hers, in its unsummoned form. He had to wonder what it looked like when it wasn't tucked away.

"What sort of weapon is she? Sounds like she used to be a zombie or something?" he asked before holding up his right hand to show the little leather bracelet thing around his wrist, "This is Tooley. And well. Definitely was an adjustment. Took some getting used to. Kinda weird having someone always there, reading your mind and stuff. But she ain't so bad. Helped me out in a few pinches. Some of her advice is too vague though."

"What about you?"

Minnie checked his extended wrist with a tilted head before replying. "Nice! And that's what she said she was, actually! A zombie of some kind.. although I don't know if there are varying types or just the brain eating kind?" The question was mostly rhetorical, but Blythe answered it anyway. Leaning back with a smile, the death trainee continued. "Same here, though. It was really weird at first.. I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking someone was in my room. And, actually I'm still not sure if I'm used to her reading and answering my thoughts."

Blythe warned, a shrug brushing off her partners reprimand. She was giving the trainee far too much leeway, allowing the woman to get comfortable and be as friendly as she would like. It was so unlike the pair of sickles to do so, but for whatever reason she seemed rather fond of the Deryk. Perhaps it was because they shared similar interests? At one point, at least. "She's pretty high-maintence, but I can't imagine a life without her! I bet you feel the same about Tooley? Things would get pretty quite, I'd think." A pause, hands falling to her lap once again. "What was and is Tooely? These turn into sickles when summoned."

Deryk had a feeling there were multiple zombie types, just going off of the various types that crop up in the media. Left 4 Dead had a few, as did Resident Evil and the like. It made him curious what Blythe was exactly.

"Pair of sickles? Sweet! Tooley used to be a doppleganger. Some type of ghost apparently. She's a hidden blade. Kinda like from Assassin's Creed. You know, the leather bracer looking thing that has a retractable blade," he replied. Idly, he wondered if there were any Templars in Halloween.

"But yeah. Pretty similar there. Though, not sure if I can say she's high maintenance. Kinda off in her own little world a lot of the times. Likes to hum and sing in my head. Hear her giggle a lot."

Deryk would have lost her at Assassin's Creed and talk of a hidden blade, but luckily her attention had fallen heavily on doppleganger. Despite the wide-eyed recognition of the term, Minerva replied coolly. "My mother used to talk about those when I was younger! Ghosts of some kind? Something about them being able to look like humans? Or change in shape?" Or was that something completely different? "Tooley sounds lovely. I'd so prefer to have someone humming and minding their own rather than rambling on about how no one will ever be good enough and blah, blah, blah..." While it was meant to be a joke, Blythe was not amused.

Breathing out of her mouth in a sigh the trainee piped up again, revisiting a recent topic they had touched on. "Hey... did you ever tell your parents about what you saw? I think at times my mom actually believed me. She was pretty superstitious like that, and the homes we usually moved into were really old and creaky. Stuff straight out of a horror film." A low chuckle followed as Minnie scratched at the back of her neck and glanced off to one of the books at her sides. All sorts of memories started to swell then, mostly of her mother and most of which making Minnie cringe at their recollections. "I know it's probably best to forget about family and all of that, but I can't help it sometimes. What if the monsters are watching her?.." The death hunter became ominously quiet all of a sudden, twirling a strand of hair around a finger as her eyes moved from book to lap, and then from lap to Deryk.

And from there a smile filled out her cheeks while her head shook ever so slightly. "With great power comes great responsibility, you're right. It's why we're here...we're like superheros!" The realization made her bounce and giggle. Or maybe it was a surge of JOY that made her extremely giddy all of a sudden. But now that she was thinking about it in a more serious context...maybe the real reason why she wanted to read up on comics was because deep down she wanted to understand how she would go about saving all of humanity...

Orrrr not. Her eyes remained locked onto Deryk's while she sat waiting for a response. In the mean time her hands worked at the books he had given to her; stacking them on her lap before pressing them against her chest.

"Yep! She's a type of ghost. Don't really know what she looks like. Seems she forgot how she looked too. Usually mirrored others rather than take her true form or something," Deryk nodded. Though, he tilted his head as the topic took a bit of a shift. Thinking about it for a few moments to recall his childhood, he nodded again.

"Yeah. But you know. Parent's didn't believe me. Just thought it was my imagination running wild. You know. Normal little kid stuff. Sometimes Dad would kinda play along and try to scare me again," he said before listening to Minnie reflect on her family.

"Try not to worry too much? You're working to keep her safe. And others too. Who knows. Maybe at some point you might be able to kinda.. visit. Maybe not talk to her since you know we're legally dead but uh.. just to kinda watch or whatever. Like they do in the movies sometimes. Lurking in the corner. Watching across the street."

Minnie nodded to all the things. "Thanks." And offered a quick pat to the comics held up against her. "For these and the conversation! I kind of hope I'll get the chance to see her again, but I'll try not to worry too much about it!" She could have said a whole lot more about her mother and her previous life, but suddenly the death hunter felt the need to leave. Perhaps out of embarrassment? Having brought up a topic that turned their curious conversation sour... in any case the trainee then lifted off the bed and took a step in front of Deryk, a smile growing across her lips while a hand brushed hair off of her shoulder.

"I better get started on these before we have to run off on another mission! I'll bring them back as soon as I can, but if I have any questions can I stop by or something?" Blythe was suddenly very argumentative with the woman as she paused, blinking several times before blurting out. "Or I mean we can hang out and do whatever sometime! I don't have a whole lot of friends around here just yet so it would be nice to... you know... just hang out." Minerva never hung out. In fact she didn't even know what they would do if they did, but the thought was nice. And the trainee hoped that before she left his room, Deryk would agree.

Watching Minnie get on up, Deryk smiled and nodded to her.

"Not a problem! Stop by anytime. Little extra company never hurts. Up for hanging out or training together or whatever anytime. Just let me know," he said.

"Hope you enjoy the comics!"

"Excellent!" Minnie replied, turning on her heels to reach for the door. "Thanks, I'll definitely be in touch!" Or rather just down the hall. In any case she slipped out of Deryk's room with a smile.

"Now..." Looking left and right, the woman released a determined huff before moving forward. "Where's that library..."
