The Iron Magus Eruravenne I've never read the comic, but I know ALL about the "real" MiBs, heheh. They were made up by a guy in the fifties because he wasn't able to get any real information for his UFO publication after promising something huge to his readers ( all two of them), so he claimed to have been forced to stop publishing and keep his mouth shut by three creepy guys in dark suits Haha, really? I hadn't heard that. I actually just ordered a book on the Men in Black from Amazon. It looks like it's gonna be some good trashy fun. XD Eruravenne (and later, he added three beautiful women in tight white uniforms... emotion_eyebrow Riiiight...). Tight white uniforms, eh? ATTENTION ALL AGENTS: I AM HEREBY ANNOUNCING SOME CHANGES TO THE DRESS CODE. Eruravenne Of course, that's probably what THEY want us to think. ninja The whole MiB phenomenon is as interesting as anything else having to do with UFOs. I've been fascinated by all of it (along with cryptozoology and all things paranormal) since I used to watch The X-Files with my dad when I was younger. It's almost like a religion with some people. I really, REALLY need to watch the X-Files at some point. gonk I'm planning on starting it when I finish Futurama. Paranormal stuff is neat, but I really can't take it, or the people who are hardcore believers in it, that seriously. I'm a skeptic, so I tend to be a little... skeptical about such claims. Eruravenne Personally, I'm of the belief that extraterrestrial life does exist, but it most likely hasn't visited Earth (though they may be watching us from afar surprised ). Some of those UFO sightings ARE pretty weird, though. Others are just ridiculous and seriously make one wonder about the average intelligence of humanity. rolleyes I think it's more likely that we will discover extraterrestrial life on another planet before we discover it on our own. With all the extrasolar planets being found recently, I don't think it'll be very long at all. Probably within our lifetimes. It was just announced a few days ago that a planet very similar to Earth (as far as we can tell) has been confirmed to be in orbit right in the middle of the habitable zone around a star similar to our own. They don't know if it's rocky or not, yet, but with the possibility of water comes the possibility of life, even if only microbial. It's very exciting! I think there's no doubt that there's life elsewhere in the universe. I mean... just LOOK at the place. It's so HUGE. I mean, let's say that the chances of any one particular star having life located on one of its orbiting planets is one in a billion. Considering that there's an estimated three hundred sextillion stars in the universe, then that means that there would be 300 TRILLION planets with life on them. eek The odds are in favor of extraterrestrial life. Whether we'll ever meet any of it... that, I'm not so sure of. Which book? I can't believe you've never seen The X-Files! eek It's available on Netflix for streaming if you have that. The last few seasons were kind of lame and the ending was awful, but it was mostly good. Especially the stand alone episodes. The first movie was also pretty bad. I haven't seen the second movie, so I can't give an opinion on that. Other people seem to like it, though. Also, I'm a skeptic, too, but I still enjoy paranormal things. It's entertaining. I can't tell you the number of times I've stayed up late watching stupid shows about ghosts and then been too scared to go to bed, even though I'm grown woman. xd Cryptozoology is particularly interesting to me, too. Mostly because it seems to most likely to contain a good amount of truth. A lot of it is still facepalm worthy, but I think it's entirely possible for some of those creatures to exist. Particularly the ones who are said to live in extremely remote and mostly unexplored areas. And believe me. When it comes to extraterrestrial life existing, I have no doubts at all. The universe is just too incomprehensibly enormous for our planet to be the only one with life. Not just life, but intelligent life. It's just a matter of finding it, and then figuring out how to contact whoever is out there. And then Star Trek will be real! emotion_kirakira (not really... but I can dream... ninja ) Edit: Wow... this is a long post... @Mokoni: I dunno... maybe it won't be in the movie either. sad

The Iron Magus Laff70 Well Mr. Skeptical, I'm Mr. Analytical and I say there are aliens out, way over tons of planets with life on them. I also think aliens have been to Earth and are currently on it. I think that if the MIB are real that they are aliens. Those are some extraordinary claims. What's your extraordinary evidence? Yeah, but he has a point. There is no way we are the only planet in the universe with life on it.

At least I'm not wasting my money at a four year college and racking up a huge loan.

I know it's on Netflix. Like I said, I'll watch it once I finish streaming all their episodes of Futurama. Ghosts, now... those I'm not interested in. I've known lots of people who believe in ghosts, but I don't buy it at all. When you're dead, you're dead... and that's all there is to it, as far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty doubtful of the existence of cryptids, but I do think they're pretty interesting. I just hope that if and when we find extraterrestrial life, it's friendly. But I feel kinda pessimistic about that... throughout human history, whenever a more advanced society has encountered a less advanced society, things have ended poorly for the less advanced society. I don't see any reason why it would be any different if the two parties were aliens and humans, as opposed to Europeans and Native Americans, or the Spanish and the Aztecs.

But we don't even have the tech to get out of the solar system and yet we still look for planets that can inhabit life. The curiosity of mankind is a strange matter. Well, first of all TIM and I have already said that we do believe there is other life in the universe, so yeah... Nobody's arguing there. sweatdrop Also, about technology, we've actually made some pretty big strides lately. A plasma rocket engine is being tested that could cut a trip to Mars down to about a month where current rockets take over seven months. It isn't strong enough to break out of Earth's gravitational pull, but once conventional rockets take care of that, the plasma rocket would take over for the rest of the journey. They're supposed to test it on the ISS in a few years. I can't remember all the details, but you can read about it here. Anyway, I have a sort of... theory... thing... not really a theory, but I dunno how else to describe it. A tentative prediction, maybe? Anyway, I think that if we can just manage to mine even a single asteroid, the future of humanity would be drastically changed for the better. Check it out. Of course, human greed would have to stay mostly out of the way, which is probably wishful thinking... Technology as a whole is already moving at a blindingly fast speed. 20 years ago, the internet barely existed and today we could hardly imagine a world without it. When my dad was a kid in the sixties, color TV didn't exist, and now we have 3DTV. When my mom was a teenager in the seventies, she could only record a TV show's audio (no video) with some kind of tape thing with a microphone set next to the TV speaker and now we have DVR that you can set remotely from your cell phone. It's mind-numbing to think about the stuff we take for granted today that couldn't have even been conceived of by our parents, or even our younger selves, really. Sorry... I talk too much... I can't help it! I love this stuff! crying

I think an alien civilization that was more advanced than us would probably also be more socially advanced. Or a bunch of murderous warlords intent on galactic domination. Or perhaps emotionless, genocidal sociopaths who consider us no more than insects... Or they could end up being so different from us that communication is impossible. Of course, it's all just speculation until we find them. *shrug* (Edit: That book looks fun. lol)

Every time two new societies met in human history--we pretty much waged war, trying to expand our borders.
