Onos Immortal Nobody Onos Immortal Nobody Muahahaha! I am god! Just fixed my computer! > w< What was wrong with it? Intel was what was wrong with it. Those jackasses don't know how to design a heat sink clamp. This particular one requires you to press four pegs into holes in the motherboard. Well it had popped off without me knowing and was causing the CPU to overheat and shut down the computer after two minutes of operation. Found the loose heatsink by accident, applied some thermal compound and now I am running cool.Interesting, I've had intel (as well as my friend's that I've helped repair and whanot) and haven't had that happen. Amd and Intel have a different process of camping the heatsink/fan on though. Intel is kinda just push and twist, but finding out when to twist and which direction is difficult unless it's the initial installation/you've done it enough. V_V;; yeah idk for me the scariest part is always installing the processor =P Intel makes good stuff imo but I may be biased since my dad works there =/

Onos I'd definitely be in. I could talk to my cousin about helping, he could cast games live if we plan ahead (full HD highest settings XD), and he may actually have a cash prize if he wants to (He wants to host weekly tournaments in the near future with cash prizes, so adding a prize/asking him to cast shouldn't be too far of a stretch). You should totally ask him to cast it biggrin

V_V;; yeah idk for me the scariest part is always installing the processor =P Intel makes good stuff imo but I may be biased since my dad works there =/ Intel makes really good stuff, especially usually newest gen stuff. But the price/power ratio for their newest hex core is meh (i7-3930k) compared to the recent amd octal core ((FX-8150). The upgraded version (i7-3960x) is 400 bucks more for hardly any increase in power, and you can pretty much get the same amount of power with it's little brother version overclocked well. The recent amd octal (FX-8150) core though, is even cheaper than the hex core from intel, and runs slightly better at most tasks. The fact I'm also getting an ATI video card (6970) will help the computer use it's resources better (both amd products, so they synergize better). If you asked me this a week or so ago though, I wouldn't know much about it =p. Had to do a lot of research for my next computer that is going to be coming in within the next month. Pretty excited to have 16GB DDR3 ram at 1600, with the amd octal core, and an ati 6970 (going to add another one in down the road). All in a sexy new case "CoolerMaster HAF 932", with a ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card, all plugged into a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX with a 1200 watt power supply. (with liquid cooling as well) Should be great for streaming highest settings on full HD, and keep myself on the highest settings for a good couple years =p. Intel and nVidia usually have the best bleeding edge technology, while AMD/Ati (same company since a while back) have usually been the best price/power ratio once they come out. nVidia has been falling behind though, as they have been broadening their resources, so ati/amd has been starting to dominate the video card market in price and power.

Immortal Nobody I've added a poll so people can vote on what they'd like for prizes. There should be an option for don't care, or as Vei (spelled correctly? Right? XD) said, there could be other prizes if people wanted to do things like that.

I feel you, most of my knowledge is from Jan when I built mine. I use a cooler master case too, it's very porous you could say and definitely the coolest running computer I've ever had. Doesn't get that dusty either (compared to my laptop which I'd have to clean like monthly).

Yeah, that was why I suggested the possibility of a cash prize if my cousin was willing to have a prize if he casted. I also show up to everything I commit to, if I'm not going to make it to a tourny, I don't sign up, if there is a chance of me not being there, I'll wait till the last minute to make my decision on it.

Yeah, it was almost a day long process looking at reviews and arguments for the different specs and price/power ratio on the nvidia vs ati, and amd vs intel on the parts I was looking to get. It took a long time, because the last time I really looked into and researched parts was in like, 2008/2009. The only thing I've bought since then is a geforce 460, and a fanless 7900 for my second monitor, and I just needed minimal research for those.

I'd like to find a way to make a tournament like this a fair one. The skill disparity in this guild is so great that if we lumped everyone together we could easily predict who would win. Now that's not very fun.

Well, usually when you play against higher skilled players, you can learn more/become better at it. But I understand what you mean. I think the best way would be to setup the brackets according to skill/ranks, but you'd still have higher and lower skilled players eventually clashing. I think the only real "Fair" way to split them up, is just to have different tournaments for different skill levels.

Cuz I don't wanna tell anyone they can't play cuz they would most likely win.

I'm thinking Ro5, loser picks next map, bracket style. At least two divisions so the Diamond+ players can have their own and they don't stomp everybody else. Maybe more depending on how many of each league we have. And perhaps we should limit the maps to the 1v1 map pool.
