"You're telling me. Ferros says blue is an unnatural color for a sky." Jordan laughed and took a lazy, warmup swing, missing by a large margin. "Darn," he said cheerfully, and grinned at Maddie.

Madison grinned back and crossed Kouki's blades in front of her. "I'm working on my dodging. Don't hold back," she said, then lunged at him with one sword.

"I think you're getting faster," Jordan said, taking a quick step back as the tip of Kouki's blade skittered across his arm. He let the momentum of the step help swing Ferros back, then brought the hammer around in a rapid arc - which missed completely. "Definitely getting faster."

"Hehe." Madison's grin took on a wicked edge as she felt the wind of Ferros' passing but not much else. The hammer might hit hard when it landed but if it couldn't land... then what? The feeling definitely gave her a bit of a lift. She could see what Robert saw in this kind of thing.
She also saw an opening and went for it, swinging both swords parallel at Jordan's side. "Careful, we bite~"

"Damn, you sure do," Jordan agreed, but he was still smiling. He couldn't help being proud of Maddie - not that he'd personally had anything to do with her improvement, but she was part of his team, his family, and even if she was proving her skills by kicking his butt, it made him grin.
It'd be nice if we could land a hit, Ferros said, frustrated.
Trying. But Maddie was once again just out of range of Ferros's arc.

Kouki hissed hungrily in Madison's mind; emboldened by her successful dodges, she tried something a little fancier. Something Robert-inspired.
It was graceful. It was well-executed. Except for how it missed by a mile.

"We all are," Jordan said; he was moving as he spoke, noting that the failed maneuver had brought Maddie closer, and that she hadn't flitted back and away yet. He took a quick swing, the shorter arc losing some of the force that he could usually bring to bear, but he was more likely to be able to hit Maddie if he was fast about it.
That's better. Ferros sounded slightly less grumpy.

Madison staggered under the hit; it hadn't been terribly hard but it had knocked her off-balance. She very nearly fell, and by the time she'd recovered any opening she might have exploited was gone. "Not bad," she admitted, trying to concentrate on dodging the hits rather than instinctively bringing Kouki's blades up to block. While she was pretty sure Ferros couldn't break Kouki, the hammer could most certainly knock the swords away.

"Sometimes we even manage pretty good," Jordan replied. She was focusing on dodging now, and at close range like this, she'd certainly be able to get in a good strike before he could retaliate. He backed away, studying her movements with slightly narrowed eyes. If he could guess which way she was going to dodge when he came after her again ...

"Oh, fine, make me come after you," she said, cheerfully. She sidestepped, feinted, jumped, and managed to get one whack in. Not a very good whack. Not very coordinated. But at least it hit.

And in attacking, Maddie had left herself open for a moment - even as the sword point sliced along his side, Jordan was already bringing Ferros around again, striking while Maddie was in range and overextended. "Seems to be working all right," he said, a slight, wicked glint in his expression.

"Oof!" Madison jumped back but still got clipped by the hammer; she stepped back again, putting distance between her and Jordan. It might seem like an odd move... until the runes on Kouki's blades flared brightly, and all four swords lifted upwards to hover around Madison.
She grinned. "Bite," she ordered, pointing.
The blades flew.

There was no dodging that; when he saw Kouki's blades lift into the air, Jordan simply brought his arm up to protect his face and braced himself, waiting it out. Ferros hissed, a steamwhistle note of displeasure. I will make him sorry.
When the blades lifted away to return to Maddie, Jordan took the opportunity to lunge forward in the brief moments while she was unprotected, bringing Ferros around in a rapid circle. "Nice one," he grinned.
Ferros rumbled impatiently, his presence heavy with building heat. I will flame.

"I like it," Madison grinned as she recaptured the returning blades; two slid neatly into their scabbards while she took the remaining two in hand. "Works great on the freaks - I don't think they expect that kinda thing outta swords."
- Talking too much! Instinctively, she tried to bat at the incoming hammer with the swords in her hands, but the blades clashed off Ferros' metal with a scrape and a brief spark. The blow was solid, but she could take it, at least for now, and she used the trajectory of the deflect to slash one sword across Jordan's arm.

"Makes sense," Jordan replied, ignoring the scratch along his arm; he planted his foot and spun in the other direction, bringing Ferros around in a full circle while he was still at close range. Now.
Ferros's roar echoed in his head as the hammer's head burst into flame, radiating a sudden blast of heat and leaving a brief, flickering trail behind it.
