To be completely honest, Eva didn't care where they went! Everywhere looked absolutely amazing, and she was more than content to let Reine take the reins (haha) and decide on which mall. It looked like she had picked out a big one too, which was perfect considering how different all the people they were shopping for were.

"Sure, sounds good! And yeah..." WISTFUL SIGH, "I do too. I mean, I know that portal is for missions, but imagine how nice it would be to visit anywhere you want!"

Like England. She still really wanted to go to England.

But that wasn't really relevant right now. "Okay, let's do this!"

"You never know," Reine grinned, clapping an arm over Eva's shoulder. "Remember when we went to the Sahara Desert, where that huge gross monster was? Maybe we'll get to go to France someday too. Or wherever! Maybe Scotland, too, where the Loch Ness monster is."

Heh, what were the chances? Reine had always sort of dismissed Nessie as just a myth, but considering everything else she'd seen- in the shadows, and even as a hunter trainee, she wouldn't be surprised if the Loch Ness monster really existed.

Together the two girls ran around the mall, picking things out. Reine mostly found what she was looking for; it was a good thing she'd already decided on what to get most of the people on her list. Unlike most girls, Reine was a pretty quick shopper, because she rarely bought clothes, to begin with. No hemming and hawing and trying out a billion dresses- just tshirts that looked comfortable with interesting designs.

Hahaha, Reine had a good point! Though man, if the Loch Ness monster was real, and they had to take it down? "Huh! Though now that you mention it...I wonder how many of those mythological monsters are real." Scary thought--there were some really messed up creatures in those stories.

BUT NO MATTER, it was shopping time! The happy and excited expression never left Eva's face as she and Reine went running around, picking up various gifts for all of their friends. Eva managed to cover most of the people on her shopping list, except...well.

"Who do you have left on your list?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:19 am

"Ughhh, all those ones in the old myths maybe? Like the hydra? I never wanna see one of those." Following Eva's cue, though, she dropped the subject.

"I think I've got mostly everything," Reine laughed, holding up the many shopping bags she was carrying. "Think it's about time for a break... and I.. think I need to get my ears pierced."

That was everyone on the list accounted for, save one, but for some reason, nothing was quite good enough, and to begin with, she had no idea what sort of thing he might like.

"How about you?"

"Oh ho? Getting your ears pierced today?" It made sense that Reine would want to though--her weapon's unsummoned form was a pair of earrings, wasn't it? It must have been inconvenient just carrying them around like that. "Let's go see if we can find a good place to get that done! Haha, maybe I should pierce my ears too." She was joking, probably. At least, if she pierced her ears, it wouldn't have been for the sake of practicality rather than...

...being able to wear something shiny in her ears.

"I thiiiiink I've covered everyone! Except..." She was going to be honest here: she wasn't very good at shopping for presents. While she may have asked Reine for some advice on what to get some of the people on her list, she couldn't very well ask Reine for advice on what she wanted, now could she? But she was beginning to get an inkling for an idea...

"Yep! I'll have to, it makes it harder to lose Ally that way. I just.. you know, imagine accidentally dropping her and never realising, and that's terrifying." Fortunately or unfortunately for Eva, Reine took her friend's comment somewhat seriously. "You should!" Cue puppy eyes and a look that said 'please don't let me go into this alone'. "I bet you'd look cute with earrings," she added, somewhat wistfully.

Reine did not often want to be thought of as 'cute', but visually appealing, at least, possibly? Not that it really served any purpose, but which girl didn't want to look good? If she were mournfully lacking in the chest department, she probably had to make up for it some other way...

"Except?" Reine looked over curiously. "Having problems picking a gift for someone?"

Ooh, losing your partner would suck. Though..."I'm sure she would yell at you if you ever dropped her," Eva assured her friend with a grin, "So you'd probably notic--ah. I wonder what would happen if you actually dropped your weapon's unsummoned form down the drain." Sure there would be some way to get them back then? No one had really bothered to tell Eva the details about how weapons worked beyond how to use their abilities in battle.

Eva was actually surprised to hear Reine agree with what had been a half-joke about getting her ears pieced. She turned her head to protest and laugh it off, but then she was met by a pair of large, blue puppy eyes.

...Aw man. She had forgotten that both she and Reine used this particular weapon. One would think that, because of this fact, Eva would be immune to it...but she wasn't.

"I, er...you think?" She looked thoughtful as she lifted a hand (after somehow transferring all her shopping bags into one hand) and tugged at her earlobe, "I mean, I guess I could...and no! Don't worry about it!" The last part was directed to the question about her having problems with picking out a girl. She shouldn't have said anything about that at all, oops!

You miiiiiight regret it if that happened, princess....

Alynthe's voice was slightly more threatening than usual, and Reine shuddered. "Y..yeah, I think.. I'd better not take the risk." Come to think of it, Reine knew nothing about Eva's weapon. "You should show me yours sometime, too," she grinned. "Maybe a spar when we get back? I'm sure Ally would like to meet him-- or her."

Look at the little darling, trying to act all growwwnnnn up, making all these decisions! It's so precious.

Hey, you like spars, too, Reine retorted.

Ally answered with a giggle.

Sighing, Reine looked back at Eva, slightly curious. Then, as if enlightened somehow, she grinned widely. "Is it for someone special?"

A spar against your friend, huh?

At the mention of her own weapon, Eva lifted her hand to touch the clip that was holding back her bangs. "Oh, you mean Chara?" Despite the weapon's protests, she tapped the clip a couple of times, "This is her! And I'd love to spar sometime!" She could definitely use the practice, that much was for sure. Always practicing, never not practicing!

She rose her brows at Reine's question, staring at the girl blankly for a few seconds before she laughed. "Not special in that way, Reine. But I consider them a good friend, so I'd like to get them something nice."

Eva just...wasn't entirely sure what "nice" was. "Anyways, let's go find a place that will pierce your ears. How's your Christmas shopping list looking?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:51 pm

"Yay!" More sparring partners. Granted, Reine didn't want to hurt her friend, but if it was all in good fun.. or, well, good practice, that was fine, wasn't it? You couldn't really expect spars to not hurt at all, anyway.

She did look a tiny bit disappointed, though, at her friend's reply. What had Reine been hoping for? Some opportunity to tease Eva? Or just girl talk fodder? That was almost a weird thought- the only conversations Reine remembered having, before coming to the island, were about RNA interference and suppressor screens and whether she'd handed up some assignment... things like that. There hadn't really been anyone she could talk to.

"I hope you find something!" She tried to look encouraging, at least. "I've got.. most of my stuff done. Just one person left, but I don't know.." Reine wouldn't consider Jordan 'special' either, but she did feel like she needed to impress him somehow, and nothing she'd seen was quite impressive enough.

Surprisingly, it didn't take that long for Reine to get her ears pierced, and it hadn't hurt as much as she expected it to, either. Getting used to it, though, was a different matter...

While Reine had been getting her ears pierced, Eva had been hit by an idea for a gift and had briefly excused herself. It wasn't long before she returned, and when she did, she had a big grin on her face. "Sorry, had some stuff to do. How do your ears feel?" She probably could have worded that question better, but so long as Reine understood her it didn't matter much, right?

Right.

"Say, Reine..." Eva suddenly looked thoughtful, crossing her arms over her chest as she hummed, "Do you...have anything to wear to the Gala? I mean, I have some dresses that I brought from home, but nothing special. I still have some money left over from the gift buying, so..." Though of course, Reine still had that last gift to get, right? Perhaps they should focus on that first?

"They feel a little funny, but.." Reine spun a circle. "How do I look?" She touched her earlobes nervously, unused to.. having something dangling from them; hopefully, though, the strangeness would wear off soon.

"I.. um, I was thinking of just.. wearing what I usually do?" A nervous laugh. "Or do we have to be all dressed up and stuff?" She had worn a long dress once for a recital, but that was about as far as her experience with dresses, past those worn in childhood, went. "I still have stuff left.. too...."

When they walked past a toy shop, something caught Reine's eye, and she paused, turning back towards it. A big, white teddy-bear with a grumpy sort of look, a blue scarf, and glasses. Wordlessly she ran towards it and gave it a huge cuddle, at which point the tag that said 'SALE' fell to the floor. It felt like some kind of prompt, and so Reine promptly purchased the bear, dragging it back over to Eva.

"Looook," she said, her eyes glazed over slightly. "Loooook, he's so... cuddly."

"You look really pretty," Eva assured her, giving her an approving thumbs up, "I'm sure your weapon is happier now too, huh?" She chuckled, eying the earrings for a moment before lifting and hand and wriggling her fingers in greeting. "I'm sure you'll get used to it soon!" She was sure that, for something that seemed so small, it was quite a big change!

The girl's brows shot up at Reine's words, and she actually looked a little aghast before an expression of sheer determination spread over her face. "Okay, we're going dress shopping--after you finish with that toy store?" She blinked in surprise as her friend zoomed off. Perhaps she had managed to figure out what to buy that last person on her list?

Eva waited patiently for Reine to return, turning her head this way and that as she surveyed her surroundings. There sure were a lot of people out shopping, huh? Though with Christmas drawing near, that wasn't all that surprisin--oh! Reine was back!

...Good god, what was that that she had in her arms?!

"He's...cute..." Eva offered weakly, eyes wide. Something about that bear...something about it really reminded her of someone...
PostPosted: Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:46 am

"Mister Cuddles says hi, too!" Reine squished him right into Eva's face, wrapping the bear paws around Eva. She couldn't understand why he had been the last of the teddy bears left, and even put on sale. He was so adorable!

"D..did you say dress shopping?" Reine looked almost scared. "I.. never went to prom or anything, so I don't really.. know.." That dress from the recital, too, had been picked by her mom, and Reine had found it pretty hard to wear.. it just kept slipping down a bit, and they'd had to hold it up with tape. Embarrassing...

"J..just nothing strapless, okay?" As if suddenly remembering something- like the fact she was talking to the back of a teddy bear, and not her friend's face, she pulled the stuffed toy away from Eva, cuddling it and stroking its fur fondly.

"Aren't you just the cuuutest widdle thing, d'awwwww~"

...Oh god, she got it. That's who the bear reminded her of! It looked exactly like--

"MMPH!" And suddenly Eva was suffocating, her face buried right in the plush fur of the teddy bear. Instead of pushing the toy away though--since she was sure Reine would be confused and maybe hurt if she did so--she weakly raised a hand and pat the bear on the head. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Cuddles," She said, only since the toy was presently pressed into her face, it came out more like a muffled, "mife tew meef tu, miftar cuddfles".

She assumed that Reine would pull Mr. Cuddles away from her at that point, but then she went on to talk about dresses--a talk that, while it usually would have interested her, mostly went over her head. By this point, Eva was ready to pull away from the bear when Reine did it for her.

Eva spent the next minute bent over and sucking in big gulps of fresh air. Leave it to a Caelius look-alike bear to almost kill her.
