Yrse smiled. There! Not strangers anymore. She now knew Dru and all was well. The dribbling part was hard and when she pushed the stone away it went off at an angle and not straight at Dru.

"Oops! I've never talked to a bird," Yrse said, hoping that Dru would manage to catch the rock anyway, "But we eat eggs sometimes. That's why they get upset, right?"

Eggs were a rare treat, and Yrse was well aware of where they came from. She'd never tried to talk to birds (or to any food-animal really) but she wanted to try. Perhaps not a bird with eggs, however. She really enjoyed eggs and figured the conflict of interest might be a bit dangerous in the long run.

Dru had to stretch out her paw to keep the stone from tumbling passed them into the tall grasses beyond what had become their nest and field for stone rolling. It was a good stone to roll and pass, and there wasn't a lot of good round stones around the area, so it was a very good thing Dru stretched.

She nodded and rolled it back to Yrse. "Yeah, they get upset when predators eat their eggs because those are they're young. But you could try talking to a bird of prey maybe. An eagle or a falcon or a hawk or even an owl. I don't know many that try to eat eggs that belong to those birds. Especially since eggs can be really yummy. That's why he gave me the shiny shell, though. I had babysitted his eggs while he had gone off to look for food. They felt that since I didn't eat their babies, I could have their shells. I only took one though." Dru told her, recalling the look of pleasant surprise on the birds face when he had returned with a nest full of his eggs and Dru napping on the branch with it tucked against her belly. She'd had to move the nest to protect it, but he didn't seem to mind. Especially since he didn't have a mate to help him.

"I think you just have to decide what's more important sometimes, a yummy treat or trust and a new friendship."

"Yeah," Yrse agreed, "I bet my dad would be pretty upset if someone eated me."

She fell silent and tried another dribble. It was a bit easier this time around, but she needed to concentrate fully and not talk while she did it. The tip of her tongue was sticking out as she concentrated and sent the stone rolling towards Dru.

"What did you do with the she?" she asked, "We just let them fall to the ground after when we have eggs."

Dru didn't stop the stone that rolled her way, but instead gave it a gentle push back toward Yrse so there was no stop in game play. "I put it in a safe and secret hollow of a tree that had fallen. It was safe there until a dirty thief of a monkey decided to steal it. I had to hunt it down and punish the monkey.

"Now I keep it with me in a pouch that I hide by burying in the ground when ever I wake up. It's buried right now and I won't unbury it until it's closer to twilight. monkeys don't like digging to much. But I'm nervous about digging prey animals. I've had to coat my scent in it and wrap it in tons of leaves. I'm working on making a necklas pouch so I can keep it with me all the time. It's just slow going."

Dame NightFury
Sorry for dropping the ball on this one...

Yrse listened in wide eyed awe as Dru explained how to handle monkeys. She nearly lost focus and had to scramble to catch the stone they were playing with. It seemed like an awful lot of work to do for a piece of shell, so it must really be important to the older girl. Yrse didn't have any important treasures like that, but with the monkey problem it might be a good thing. She made a mental note not to trust monkeys if she ever got a treasure of her own.

"I think I need to leave," she said, perking her ears at a sound in the distance, "That's my dad calling."

She beamed at the older girl, and thanked her for the playtime before bouncing off in the high grass.

Dru sat and watched the cute cub disappear back to wherever her father had left her. She only left the tall grasses to continue her day once Ysre was no longer in hearing range. Smiling, Dru stood on her four legs, stretched before trotting away from the area.
