"He's okay. Doing better now he's got Petra looking after him, I guess." Really- she wasn't too sure about what Robert's life had been like, during the last few months- a year, even, before the island trial. They hadn't kept in particularly close contact. She was pretty proud of her sister, though, all things considered.
"I'll keep my hair long, I think." Funny how talking to Ariane brought all the bad things up. Reine still kept her night-light on when she slept, after that whole pod incident. A haircut with Circe was infinitely better than being smacked in the face with Circe.
"I'm not too fond of close shaves." Reine settled for a joke, laughing weakly, then immediately grew defensive at Ariane's comment.
"'course he is," she retorted. "He's the boss." Special? All the phoenixes were to her, in some way- at least, the ones she'd met. "Yeah, with the way they made us sign our lives away, I don't think any of us ever thought it'd be easy."

"I was considering short hair, since I would hate for it to get in the way during missions," She mused out loud with a thought hum at the end, "Eh, I'll see how it goes." She liked having long hair; it just didn't seem too practical to her right now... She would probably decide if or when she get that promotion.
She laughed at Reine's pun, giving her a pat on her back; hey! This one has a sense of humor!
"I meant special to you, personally," She placed some emphasis on the word, "Easy or not, we're here now, so we just have to make it count... You're settling in well, I hope?"

"Didn't think about it too much, but I guess practicality's gotta be a factor now, huh?" It was true- she'd spent ages, ages washing the muck out of her hair after that Sahara Desert mission. But she'd only ever had short hair when it was growing out.. feeling slightly uneasy, Reine touched the back of her neck.
She'd feel so.. naked with short hair, the idea of it was just so.. unnatural. "You'd probably look pretty cute with short hair," Reine managed, trying to be helpful. Nervously she twirled a lock of her own hair. If given a choice.. she'd spend as many hours as she could get washing muck out of it.
The girl mostly only had that one thing to be vain about, anyway.
"I guess," she frowned, somewhat irritated by the girl's persistance. What other ways would the Boss be special to her in? Economically? Socially? Politically? Of course it was personally.
"I'm doing okay.." Reine trailed off, somewhat hesitantly. If you called beating people up all the time, or getting punished by superiors more often than it seemed was normal okay, then... sure.

"Why, thank you," She did a mock bow, although she really was thanking Reine for the comment. Pausing momentarily at her reaction, she stroked her chin before deciding to drop the issue; some people were just not as fun to tease. Besides, this girl was a life hunter - she had a feeling messing with a life hunter was a bad idea.
"Good to hear," She replied cheerfully, walking in silence for a bit before she realized that she had to make a different turn to go to her room, "This is where we part." She pointed at where the corridor splits, "I'll see you around then, Reine?"

"If you're lucky, Ariane."
Grinning, she turned round the corner towards her room, and waved without bothering to look behind. All in all that had been a pretty amusing chance meeting.. though granted, she'd been pretty lucky with people so far.
Even A5, who seemed like he might pull some trouble- okay, she was the one who'd killed him... or started it.. both times. But she hadn't run into him, and she considered that a good sign.
Feeling slightly drowsy, she walked into her room, locked the door behind her, and flopped down on the bed. Now for naptime.
