Robert's eyes widened just slightly when the bracer came at him, green pointed energy trying to stab at him, and his body jumped back a step to dodge the incoming blow. Well, that explained some usefulness to the bracer - even if Jezebel was too busy humming to notice.
Can I make him scream now, Robert?
Robert had already backed up to dodge the stab, but he took yet another step back and brought the batleth parallel in front of him. "Jazzy, you're the one who screams." He murmured with a devilish grin, as his hands started to twirl the batleth in a helicopter blade fashion, aimed at Deryk.
It was just pretty for a moment, until finally the sound of Jezebel's voice was actually audible, as nothing more than a high pitched screech of insanity filling the room. The weapon burst with light, and Jezebel's presence exploded both blinding and deafening in nature.

Deryk's eyes widened as Robert managed to jump back and away from his attack. That didn't quite go as planned. That wasn't the only surprise. Before he could make a follow up attack, the batleth started to shriek and shine brightly.
"AAHH!" he cried out, covering his ears and shutting his eyes tightly. He couldn't attack with this going on.

Once Deryk was stunned, Robert was in motion. His body spun gracefully, turning in mid-air and coming down on Deryk with a full strength slash. The force of his entire spin was behind hit, leaving no mercy to the man at the end of his blade.
The move was fluid and altogether just a little too much like something you would see choreographed. Was the world moving in slow motion? Possibly.

Before Deryk even could come out of his dazed state, pain shredded through him. Letting out another cry of pain, he staggered back, feeling something warm and wet begin to flow from a part of his torso. The effects of that shriek was still ringing in his ears, leaving him disoriented. As a result, he made a swing at his opponent... while standing five feet away.

Robert did not enjoy bringing the man down to his knees, bloody and swinging wildly, but he had been clear about how this fight was going to go down. He stuck to it, stepping up closer and bringing the blunt of the batleth down onto Deryk's chest. He pulled away, and the weapon sliced across the hunter's chest.
"Get up. This fight isn't over. Come on, Deryk."

Deryk was trying hard to get his senses back together. But working while in pain was not something he was accustomed to. Pausing, he looked down as Robert placed the blade against his chest before slicing into him. More blood began to flow, and he was finding it harder to push himself up to his feet.
"I know that.. Not giving up. Can't give up. Never," he said a little breathlessly before pushing himself up.
He made another wild swing, not coming in contact once more.

Robert..
Shh, Jazzy. I know.
"That's what I like to hear." Robert had to give this guy credit. Even though he was new to Deus, and experience was not his forte, he had the heart. And he had the determination.
Robert had the giant double bladed weapon, though. Said weapon was coming down across Deryk's body, from shoulder to side in a slashing motion. The attack made Jezebel let out a sound that Robert could only consider inappropriate.

Trying to catch his breath, Deryk lunged at Robert, ready to finally stab into the other hunter. He wanted to spill his blood in return, however his movements were too slow right now. Before he could extend the hidden blade, he felt the batleth slice into him hard and deep.
"AAAH!" he cried while falling back. His vision was now starting to blur. Things were looking really bad for him. Coughing and shuddering from that last blow, he slowly pushed himself back to his feet. This felt familiar. The trials.
The hunter trainee got back into stance, holding Tooley out before him. The goofy guy also had a much more serious look upon his face right now. He really needed to give this his all.

ROBERT.
Don't be a b***h, Jazzy. He growled, bending down to crouch in front of Deryk and survey the damage.
Robert was getting a little brutal lately. He'd shed more hunter blood in the last two days than he'd managed to hurt monsters in his entire time here at Deus, for all he was aware.
He stayed crouched, waiting for Deryk's next attack - maybe he was asking for it, but he didn't want to sweep the guy. After all.. right now, he was the closest thing to a new friend that Robert had.

Seeing the other hunter stay there, he took in a deep breath, ready to finally get things into gear. Keeping the blade hidden was a mistake on his part. He'd make sure to not do that again for future fights.
Deryk rushed forth at Robert, making a swing with his arm as usual. However as his hand neared the other hunter's side, he flicked his wrist back, allowing the blade extended out fully.

Robert felt the sweet, hot slice of a blade enter him, and his eyes furrowed in confusion. He looked down at the bracer, and the knife in his body, and whistled, taking a step back.
"You were holding out on me.." He coughed out, stumbling away from the blade and holding Jezebel out in front of him.
Now, Robert?
He whirled the blades around, letting out another scream and blinding explosion of light as he did it, but behind the hold he coughed up blood.

"Was trying for surprise tactic. Wasn't able to set it off earlier," Deryk said while staring at the fresh blood he had caused. There was something satisfying about that, and that satisfaction scared him in a way. In any case, he didn't get the chance to follow up or dwell or anything as the batleth made another screech.
Wincing, he flinched back, unable to strike again.

"Surprise attack. I like that. I like the way you think, Deryk." Robert stopped spinning his batleth, and whacked Deryk across the head with the blunt middle while he was still stunned.

As the screeching stopped, Deryk shook his head, trying to regain his senses yet again. That screaming was certainly something. He wasn't even sure how a weapon could make a sound like that.
Of course. Always with the 'magic'.
In any case, Robert was nice enough to help smack his senses back in with that strike to the head.
"Heh," he started. While that serious look hadn't left him, he felt really worn down. The bloodlost he was experiencing was making his head woozy. But that didn't stop him just yet. With a twisted sort of grin, he stepped in, and slashed across Robert's chest with the now exposed blade.
"Could say the same for you."

"Yeah, I've been told that a ******** just had to go prove him wrong by cursing like a sailor when the blade slashed against his midsection, making him stumble back again and drop Jezebel with a clatter to the ground.
