Gunkan couldn't believe their luck. How blessed were they to be able to be as happy as this and so soon. So many other soquili tried for years and never had this luck. What mattered if it was blood or not? What made family family was love. No matter of blood would change that. It was sweat and tears, pain and happinesss that made you love someone. Made you live and die for them. That's what family really meant and Nori was all he'd ever had of family till now.
This was such a blessing, so awe-inspiring and amazing. It was both frightening and--there were no words to express what he was feeling. The depth of emotion, the height and glory of it. He was happy and in love. And now he had a family.
Dreams really did come true, didn't they? He had never thought he could be this happy or fulfilled in this short of time. Miracles happened, and this was just the start of something so much better. A lifetime and legacy of love.

Nigiri couldn't help but giggle at his brother. They were having so much fun. He kept testing his legs, but found himself stumbling still. He was beginning to think Daddy was right, that he would have his grace. Was that a bad thing?
He didn't think so. Daddy was great, so wouldn't daddy's grace be good too? And Oni was great! So little and awesome and fun. He was so different looking and so fun! He wished he had little head wings too. He wondered if maybe he could fly?
He tried to mimic his brother and run around, but he found himself firmly planted into the floor with hooves up in the air. A loud "OOFH!" rang out and he spit dirt out of his mouth. He just could not get used to the heavy weight of his tail. It just seemed to unbalance him so much.
He recokoned he'd get use to it though. I mean, it shouldn't feel this heavy all the time right?

Nori watched the two boys move around and it brought a smile to his face. They had finally done it. Finally created a family of their own! And so soon too! However, Onigiri's question did leave him wondering himself. Where would they stay now? Hadn't he and Gunkan just been wandering for the most part? I mean, sure they had stayed here and there for small periods of time but had they really settled just yet? Perhaps it was time to discuss that. Perhaps they ought to have discussed that much sooner than this. Yes, that would have been a much smarter decision than waiting. However, what was done, was done and there wasn't any turning back now. They could only correct the problem.
"Well," He started of rather slowly and hesitantly. "I suppose we should figure that out. Mainly we live in a meadow not too far from here. Do you want to see it? If you boys like it I think we can stay there. Then you'll be close to the ocean too. But you'll need to be careful, the water can be dangerous and you don't want to drink it. There are all sorts of things that we can teach you too." He smiled while he looked over to Gunkan. "What do you think?" He asked the other stallion.
Onigiri giggled as he ran around a bit more, enjoying his new found freedom. Sure he was still quite wobbly and not very graceful, but he was starting to get the hang of things. Perhaps here soon he would be much more capable. "A meadow?" Onigiri's little ears perked up as his father spoke to him. "What is a meadow? It sounds really cool!" He exclaimed excitedly. "When do we get to see it? Why can't we go near the water? Why can't we drink the water? What will you teach us? If we can't drink the water what can we drink?" The little colt bounced around full of excitement while he asked just about every question he could think of.
There were so many new things for him to learn about and explore. How much was there for him to learn? How long would it take him to learn? Why hadn't his fathers already found a place to live? There were so many more questions that the foal wanted to ask, but he knew that some things would only be answered over time. He knew there was much for him to learn and explore, and he planned on doing so once he was much steadier on his little hooves.

Gunkan nodded, "The meadow would be good. I mean it's been our home for awhile...and it's close to both water and woods and--" He listened to little Oni's long list of questions. "It's a place with flowers and grass and butterflies and maybe flutters some times." He took another deep breath, "Maybe tomorrow or today." He looked to Nori to see what he thought. "You can't drink ocean water, it's salty and too salty for each of us. And you have to learn to swim first or else we'll have to rescue you."
He giggled at the memory of how Nori had had to save him from the seaweed which had actually gotten Nori trapped. It was then he had to save him. That seemed a lifetime ago.
"You have to drink fresh water or else you're thirsty all the time and stuff. We'll teach you though, teach you everything so you don't have to worry about it. Okay?"
He sure hoped they were ready. This was going to be an awfully big adventure into unknown territory

Nigiri tried to pull himself up and listen to both of his dad's but everything was just so amazing and intriguing that he couldn't help but be distracted. He just couldn't wrap his mind around all the amazing sights and sceneries.
Finally, he was able to make himself focus long enough to listen to Dad. He tilted his head as he talked and took in the information. There were certain kinds of water they could drink then. There were places called meadows and they'd learn how to swim. But that wasn't the important questions. What was important was when!?
"When?" He couldnt' help but bounce up and down with excitement. He was too excited to learn all this stuff--to see everything. It was only a short order of time, before he lost his balance again and tumbled to the ground.
Darn his feet and tail and his inability to stay standing! He just couldnt' seem to master it yet. Oni was doing much better already, but he was still struggling alot, he felt so gangly and....well...gangly. He pulled himself back to his feet, determined to stay there now.

Nori chuckled to himself as he watched and listened to both of his children and his beloved lovemate. How had he gotten so lucky in life? Not all that long ago he was an awkward and clumsy lone stallion, and now here he stood with the perfect family beginning to form. He supposed that this only proved that dreams really could come true. At the thought, the stallion tipped his head to the sky. It was too light yet to actually see very many of the stars, but he knew that up there somewhere was the wishing star that had brought them their precious Nigiri, and perhaps it had even brought them Onigiri as well? Fate really did appear to work in rather intriguing and unpredictable ways.
Turning his gaze back to his family, he listened to Nigiri speak, flinching a little as the colt lost his balance. "When?" Nori started out. "Well, I suppose as soon as you're ready. Honestly there isn't enough time in the world to show you everything. Even Dad and I learn new things all of the time don't we?" He shot a quick smile to his lovemate before continuing on. "I'm sure that we could certainly start showing you things now though. Is there anything that you would like to learn or know about first? Anything that we can show you?" He asked the colts, curious to see what their responses might be.

Full of energy, the little colt found himself bounding about once more. It seemed that his littler legs made it a bit easier for him to balance than his larger brother. Although he suspected that perhaps Nigiri would beat him in a race if it came to it. There were certainly advantages and disadvantages to everything in this world. Or at least that was how it seemed for now. Perhaps in the future he might learn differently?
Out of the corner of his eye the colt caught a bit of movement. Curiosity getting the better of him, Onigiri carefully made his way to the patch of grass that had drawn his attention. There, among the rather long blades of grass, sat a tiny little green creature. It was so little that the colt was rather afraid that he might squish it if he got too close or careless. Ever so carefully, Onigiri moved slowly to investigate the creature further. As he neared it, it bounded off in a rather large leap. Once more, the colt approached and once more it croaked and hopped again. It seemed that no matter what Onigiri tried to do, he could not get close to the creature.
"What is that?" He asked, looking up to the two stallions.

Gunkan felt so proud in this moment. It was as if all of his life was destined for this day, the birth of his--their children. How could he have even begin to think of the joy and fufillment that the wishing star would bring into their lives when he wished for it so long ago? Two beautiful children. One graced to look like them. The other though not alike physically, a pure emobidment of the love they shared. What did it matter about love or physicalness? What did it matter about any of it?
They were family no matter how you looked at it.
His hair had been a minor sacrifice. A piece of his vanity that he had never even willingly considered letting go of before. Now he would do it a thousand times over for them--just for one look, one single smile.

This time Nigiri decided to stay down for awhile. Throwing his legs up in the air, he began to roll around in the dirt coating his back in it. It felt good to get dirty, it felt fun! He couldn't help but giggle as he jumped back up and shook all the dirt from his skin.
It felt really good to be able to move around even if it wasn't very much. He knew in time, he'd be able to move around more. He'd be able to swim and do all kinds of fun things. I mean, like really fun stuff. Swimming seemed like it would be nice.
Running would be really cool. Chasing those small winged creatures, and well...food...Food sounded really good.
He flicked his ears back and forth and looked at his fathers. "What food do we get to eat?"

Nori let out a little giggle as his children moved about awkwardly in this new and strange world. He watched happily as his little rice ball chased a frog about, always one hop behind. Moving closer to the little Usdia so he could talk easier, the stallion started to speak. "That is what we call a frog." He told the little colt gently. "They usually live around water and grassy areas. They are amphibians and have to have water to survive." Nori continued on, trying to teach his son everything that he might one day need to know. "They also have a cousin called the toad, they are usually larger and sound a bit different. They typically are a bit of a darker color as well."
Catching movement out of the corner of his eye, the stallion turned his head to the left and caught sight of a butterfly. "Look there!" He whispered, afraid that he might frighten it off if he spoke any louder. "We call those butterflies. They come in all sorts of colors and even some different sizes. Bugs such as this help pollinate the flowers, they transfer the seeds and such so that more flowers will grow." The stallion continued on with the lesson, hoping that he wasn't trying to teach Onigiri too much.

Curiously, the tiny little colt studied this creature known as a frog. It certainly looked odd, and was nothing like anything that he had ever seen. Although he supposed that his time in this world had been so short thus far that anything he might see would likely be knew and alien to him. Fascinated, Onigiri listened to every word that his father told him, careful to not miss anything. Frogs, toads, butterflies, so many names to remember and he knew that this was only the beginning of what he would learn. How many other things were out there? How much more was there to learn? Would he ever know it all? Or would there never be enough time to learn everything? The colt hadn't the slightest clue, all that he could do for now was try to learn as much as he could for the time being.
"Bu-busserfly" He attempted to repeat the word that his father had just spoken. Frowning, the little colt tried again. "Bu-butterflah" Hmmm, no that wasn't quite it either. "Bu-butterfly." He spoke once more, this time getting it right. "Butterfly! Butterfly! Butterfly!" The little colt shouted the word as he pranced about his father, proud that he had managed to speak it correctly.

"FLUTTERBY!" Nigiri shot forward with clumsy leaping legs to chase after it as he shouted again and again, "BUTTERBY! FLUTTERBY!"
The swaying grass seemed to stop him as he tumbled more often than stood. It was soft, and fun. With each giggle he got up anew until he reached Daddy Nori. Nudging his father softly he leaned against him tired, "I nap now?"
He didn't wait for an answer, but clumsily dropped to the ground, his head lulling back and forth as sleep threatened to overtake him. He couldn't help it, he was just so tired. The day had been so exciting. He'd not been used to moving so much. This was all so new and real and bright. And--he gave out a long yawn as he rested his head on his hooves.
But his little mind wouldn't stop whirring from the excitement of the day. It wouldn't stop trying to absorb everything going on around him. He listened to the lulling sound of his father's voice and his head dropped down as he fell in and out of sleep. He hated to fall asleep. There was so much more to do!
But it would all be there when he got back up. With that he gave into sleep.

Gunkan watched as the scene played out. Nori was teaching their little rice ball, while Nigiri was running rampant--falling as much as anything else. His little body bouncing around happily chasing little bits of nature.
It was the perfect scene. The perfect life. No wonder something had felt like it was missing for all those years. It was. Something was missing, and this was it. Family. Without you felt odd, like a small piece of you was left out when you were made. But this--this was like finding that missing piece. Finding out it's name and what it meant to you and how you do desperately needed it.
Family. Such a simple and delicate word for such a strong emotion. Making his way over to Nori, he stood over the sleeping Nigiri to protect him from everything he could.
He nuzzled his mate gently, "This is what we've always wanted...It's better than I could have ever imagined." He nudged his mate again playfully, "You're an amazing father."
This was just the beginning of the rest of their lives...Just the beginning of something so much more than anything. There would be more children, if they were so blessed. But it always started with two until the love could not be contained--until it spread like wildfire.
