"You wish you'd been there?" Tahki was confused. Why would anyone want to see her knock her team mates out? Okay, now that she thought about it, she could see why. It must have been pretty entertaining.
"I knocked my self out though... in the process.. " She rubbed the back of head. Oh, she still hadn't put her hat back on. The gryphon gripped the hat and placed it on her head.

"Eh, it happens," Roch said, shrugging. "I've done worse. But I'm surprised they haven't talked about doing another one. I'd love to get in on a battle of the bands. Hey, do you ever go in town?" he asked her abruptly.
"This week they got a decent singer on the street, she totally sucks at the guitar, but--" He shrugged, as if it was obvious he'd think she would. "I bet she's there now! Except, every time I go out to watch, her friends glare at me, like I was tryin' to steal her corner."

"They... havent?" That actually surprised the gryphon too. But they had planned quite a few field trips recently. Maybe that was where all the staff had gone. Tahki remembered the island but hadn't had the experience that some of the other students had. She and Amrita had stayed on the beach the entire time and scribbled in the sand with sea wood. The newest field trip was something she was completely in the dark about.
"You know maybe we should vote for that ... instead of more field trips. " Tahki crossed her legs and sat Indian style. "The two I've been on haven't been all that great. One we invaded Christmas town and another we ended up ship wrecked. Apparently there were cloaked figures or some thing." There was no way she was going to confess about staying on the beach the entire time.
"But uh.. I think battle of the bands would be a lot cooler... "

"Hell yeah it would be," Roch said. "I went on this last trip, the one to the haunted house. It was HELL," he said, not feeling that word even explained how horrible it was. "I kept getting dissi--well, it really sucked."
His expression went dry, thinking back on the field trip. Then he looked around, seeing if he could find any boogies watching them. "You notice how many boogies been around?" he asked quietly, seeing one in the distance. "They're here to make sure we don't spill about those cloak guys... and what happened to Red."
His voice was low, his mouth barely moving as he spoke. If she'd been on all those field trips, she wasn't a hunter in disguise, right?
He hoped. Her voice seemed right for her body, at least...

"Whoah! Cloaked guys again?" Tahki was actually really surprised. Her tail twitched even and fluffed a bit at the mention of the cloaked guys. She remembered what she'd heard on the island. Students had died and had to be brought back.
Oddly enough the gryphon hadn't taken any psychological scars away from that trip. Of course, she wasn't front and center when the happenings were happening either.
"Red..? What happened to Red?" The fact that the reaper was suspecting her of being a hunter had not occurred to Tahki. The gryphon was to mesmerized by this new news to really study the reaper.

"She..." Roch frowned, not only wondering if he was making a mistake--but if she was a hunter, she would have heard of it, or been there. And she didn't seem to be trying to deceive him...
"She died," he said quietly. "She turned into this massive flying monster, and was killed by one of the heads of the hunters. And... she didn't come back. There's a skull somewhere in the human world, although it might have turned to ash by now."

" I see..." Her tone was soft and matter of fact but there was no sorrow. Concern, yes, but sorrow? It was lacking completely. Mostly because Tahki didn't know Red as well as some others. Not only that, what Roch was saying seemed so surreal to her. It was hard to wrap her full emotions around. "I've never had a run in my self... But from the island.. I've heard stories." Her tail twitched to the side. " I've never seen you around before. You new?" A topic change was what this needed. Tahki wasn't sure if she wanted to hear the gruesome details of Reds death. The fact that a professor had DIED concerned her enough. There was a prickly feeling traveling up her spine just thinking of what could be done to the students. She'd dig more of that later perhaps. Right now, she wanted to know more about Roch.

"Eh, I've been here about half a year or so," Roch admitted. "Long enough to die a few times, I guess. I wasn't here for the island or the Christmas trip, though. I'm a year two reaper," which was pretty obvious, "a grim," he added, holding up his guitar so she could see the edges. "Um... I like music and get a lot of attention from boogies." Which he didn't explain why, but it seemed to be true enough.
"What about you?" he asked.

"Your year two?" She blinked in amazement. Most of the year twos were familiar to her but Roch. She couldn't recall running in to him before. Possibly they had a class maybe once ? She couldn't recall.
"Oh.. I'm a year two arctic gryphon." Tahki didn't want to say she'd been there a year or more though. No way was she admitting that. "And you didn't miss to much on either trip. Uhh... the Christmas one I died by fire but there were no cloak guys. It was a monster of a minipet that attacked us.. But I guess .. umm.." She rubbed the back of her head.
"So your year two huh?" Awkward. Tahki was making this awkward.

"Yeah," he said, thinking about it. "I uh, wanted to go home for a bit over... some things, and I figured it'd be easier to do it if I passed the exams first," he said, giving her a slightly sad smile. "So I did. I'm good at stuff like the exams, thinking, not so much, I guess. Thankfully this school likes physical stuff better than brainwork."
He hesitated, wondering why the thought bothered her so much. Had it taken her longer to become a year two? Well... yeah, that probably would bother people, now that he thought of it. "What kind of monster?" he asked curiously. "What did it look like?"

The gryphons tail twitched again. "Oh, uhhh. I dunno if you know Amrita but a bigger version of her pet DC." Her hand gestured how big. "Lots bigger." There was a nod. Tahki stood up and dusted her self off. "So.. umm.. Thanks for helping and .." There was a small flick from her wings. The gryphon jumped back up on the branch she'd just slipped from. Tahki sat like a cat with her head tilted to the side. "And I dunno uh... do you like video games ?" It was a good way to find out if he was maybe a techy or not.

"Nah, well, okay, I really like Guitar-FEARO, but other than that I grew up too poor to have video games and stuff," he said, turning and looking up at her. "I didn't even get my phone until I was fourteen or so. But hell, I still think playing a guitar is a million times more satisfying than pushing buttons on a piece of plastic. You don't have to follow the flashing lights, you can get a jackin' HUGE range in comparison, and no one--except Bones and my old man, judges me on technique."
Then belatedly, he added, "Not that there's anything wrong with liking games, y'know? Danny's got this massive collection of them." He went back to imagining the massive version of DC with a shudder. "Jack, that must have sucked, though. The little guy is troublesome enough on his own."

The comment about masking buttons made Tahki frown.
"H-hey!" She squeaked up a little, "Its more then mashing buttons! Its - Its strategy and lots of puzzle solving and you get to kill things and race and shoot and just." She went on for a very long time about the uses a video game had. By the time she was done, Tahki was blue in the face from her ranting. Usually the quiet and meek gryphon was a lot more introverted. But mashing buttons?
Then she calmed a little and took a nice deep breath.
"Y-yeah.. it did suck. But not as hard as it did for the island field trippers I hear.." Subject change was good. Very good.

He was grinning wider and wider as she ranted, enjoying it thoroughly. Somehow he'd found this ghoul's buttons, and he was pretty sure not many did. "Okay, okay," he said, lifting his hands up. "You'll have to prove it to me sometime, alright?" he said. "I haven't actually played that many games--well, other than the outdoor variety. And I'm pretty sure the way I learned those is probably the illegal way," he admitted with a shrug.

"Prove it to you?" Now that her frustration was cleared it was back to the meekness the ghoul usually was. Her tail twitched some.
"O-okay. Umm... I will I mean." There was a nod. "I forget sometimes that other people don't play as often as I do." It was true. Often Tahki forgot just how privileged a life she lived. Her parents had provided, well maybe not the warmest of homes(being arctic and all), but very nice child hood. Even if she was now slightly socially retarded thanks to the over bearing mother she had.
