Leela watched as Pookie got hit again. This time, the attack fully destroyed the ice around Pookie. She was free from it. Not wanting to waste any time getting back into it, she called out, "Now use crunch!" Hopefully this would give them a slight advantage in the next attack. She was really worried though about what Paula might have her Rattata do next.
Pookie turned to run at the other Rattata. She opened her mouth and bit down hard. It wasn't to do damage but to weaken the other one's defenses.

The tables were turning quickly, and Genesis knew that, unless they received some luck, the opponent still held the upper hand. She bit her lip, teetering between risking a high-miss move that would buy them some much-needed time or an all-out assault.
Finally, she chose the latter and, with a shout, said, "Try Ice Beam again! Don't let it miss!"
Unfortunately, the distance between them was easily lost. The other Rattata caught up to her, a blur and streak of purples and creams. She struck Leto with a powerful blow that showed little harm on the outside, but terrible lowered her strength within.
Shaking herself and leaping away, she tried an Ice Beam, hoping the line of ice and cold would hit their mark.

Leela breathed a sigh of relief when the ice beam missed Pookie. It looked like it had been really strong. She hated to see Pookie get frozen over and over again. It must be so unpleasant. "Use super fang Pookie!" She hoped that it hit. Pookie was faring better than the other Rattata so far but things could change fast. Another ice beam could end it for them.
Pookie watched as the beam of ice went past her. She then went back at the other Rattata. This time she opened her mouth to show that her teeth could be powerful if she wanted them to be. She bit down, hoping to leave some damage behind.

Genesis was glad when the opponent's attack missed, but she couldn't hope for another chance like that. "Keep trying!"
Leto scrambled, panicked lips halting the ice beam in favor of uttering a sharp shrill at the other's attempted Super Fang as she darted to safety. Eyes laid back and fur bristling, she tried Ice Beam one again.

Leela bit her lip when Pookie's bite missed. She was really hoping it would hit. She closed her eyes briefly when the other Rattata hit Pookie with another ice beam. That move was really a pain. The ice didn't look that thick though. Hopefully Pookie could break free soon.

The attack was successful this time, but the ice hadn't been as laid as thick as she would have preferred. At this rate, the Rattata would break herself free, and the advantage gained would be for naught. And so, she persisted.
"Try again!"
Leto, hoping the other's pause, no matter how short, would aid in her accuracy, tried another Ice Beam.

Leela watched as the ice around Pookie was starting to melt. She smiled but then the other Rattata hit Pookie with another ice beam. This time the ice was thick. She wondered how long Pookie would be stuck in the ice. She felt so sorry for her poor Rattata. It must suck to be frozen so much.

The Ice Beam was much more successful now, and Genesis sighed with relief. It was thick enough to hold for a few attacks she reckoned, and she called, "Rock Smash, now!"
Leto chirruped her success, tail lashing, before she ran at the other with a dangerously speedy paw.

Leela held her breath as the other Rattata hit Pookie with another rock smash. If another one hit like that, Leela might have to forfeit. She didn't want Pookie to faint while frozen. That would be too much. The ice around her didn't look like it was going to melt anytime soon either.

After the first hit, she jumped back warily, but only slightly. When it became apparent that the opponent wouldn't escape after a single blow and her trainer offered no new moves to perform, she followed up her previous hit with another Rock Smash.

Leela watched with a sickening feeling as the other Rattata hit Pookie again. She had to stop it. Stepping forward a little, she called out to Paula, "Wait, I forfeit!" Pookie was still frozen on the field. She pulled out her poke ball and recalled Pookie. "You did good," she whispered to the ball.
She waved to Paula, "Good battle!" She would remember this experience and hopefully learn from it.

As soon as the other trainer announced her forfeit, the Stadium returned back to normal and the field was smooth and untarnished once more.
"Thanks," Genesis called across the field. "It was a close match, too. I didn't think another Rattata would be able to get her weakened so much," she admitted with a laugh.
After recalling Leto, she waved at her opponent and turned to leave, calling before she did so, "Thanks for the battle!"
