"Yes. I had what would call a past life. I don't remember all of it except I was a bird. A bird of fire to be exact. When I died, my life started here. I've had a few others, but those are fuzzy." She shook her head a little snorting at the thought of trying to remember everything. It hurt her head to think about it. "Yes, my feathers were from there. Any form I have had, I have always had feathers. I believe I was originally born a bird. Well...at least that is what Master tells me."
He quickly clarified her questions about his herd. She understood the regular part. She had seen enough azrein who simply looked like horses. She wouldn't be able to tell if they couldn't talk with her as she spoke with them sometimes. As he explained their structure, she snorted. "Not having anything doesn't make one dumber. That is silly. Practicality calls for members who are good at what they do." At the comment of her chain, she absently looked down at it giving a cough. "I'd rather not. It simply reminds me of who I am. Each life I had, this was with me. Master says it is what marks me different. Marks me as his creation and property." Her head tilted back and forth in thought before she raised it to look at Ahadzen in curiosity. "By most, I'm sure you would be considered high up too because you are of kirin and not of regular azrein, yes?"

In his mind, the image of the bird that Pheonix was speaking of came into his head, majestic, powerful, beautiful. A mass of beauty but also fury. "Yes, I was considered a higher class and I agree with you. It's not the structure that matters, it's what's inside the azrein. Which is why I left the herd, then started hearing the voice." He regretted commenting about the pendant but did anyways. "This master you speak so much of... who is he?" In his mind, he couldn't see anyone obeying any other rules besides their own and their herd leader, but she wasn't in a herd. "And property?"

The mare gave a brief snort stretching her frame a little. "I don't blame you for leaving. I'd probably leave with you." And she was truthful about that. Being in a herd that valued those because of looks was a ridiculous sort of thing. She wouldn't want to trust her life to someone who was more worried about the style of their hair than the betterment of their fellow herd members. She perked suddenly when he mentioned the voice again. "Maybe that is why the voice haunts you. She is bitter that you left when you did. You should go back and face her. I'm sure you will know who the voice is." Pheonix meant that as well. It would be the only way he would finally be rid of the nuisance.
She blinked a little then gave a bit of a sigh. "I don't know...Master has always been in different forms. But I have always been able to find him in each life....except for this one. He has not presented himself to me. He could be anyone." Pheonix felt a little defeated that she had yet to find him yet. And he could help her how to blend in better and get what she needed done. However, she didn't think she was doing to terrible by herself. "Master created me. I am of his blood, spirit, and being. We are part of each other. Therefore, I am his property in a sense, and yet no his property." The mare gave a brief cough looking toward the horizon in thought. "I never thought myself much of a prisoner in all the sense. He let me wander wherever I wanted as long as I came back home in time for feeding. But he never let me interact with others. Said it would be bad for me. Never could quite figure out that one." The mare gave a verbal shrug simply rolling her eyes at the thought.

"I'll never return." he grumbled. "I've thought about it for a while over the few days and would not want to risk losing my life seeing the leaders once again." He looked confuse. "If its bad for you, why would you dare to speak for me? When.." he looked where she was looking too, hoping to find a sign - anything. "When is your feeding time?" This was odd, but Ahadzen knew that both of them were completely different but also practically the same. He was wild, she was too, but had a master. "Have you ever asked if he could set you free?"

"Do you not go back in fear or in anger perhaps?" The mare questioned becoming a little more interested in his plight. However, the questions shifted back to her quite quickly. "Like I said, I never could quite figure that out. And my master isn't here at the moment, now is he?" Pheonix gave a triumphant snort and nod of her head, feather shaking in a comical way as she did so. The top one bent down enough to gently pop her on the nose which caused Pheonix to jump in mild surprise. She coughed a little choosing to ignore that event. "I don't really have a time. I just eat when I'm hungry."
The last question made her pause for a very long moment. Would she dare ask him to set her free? She never thought of the repercussions that would ensue. "I...have not dared to ask." The mare admitted looking down a little. "It never crossed my mind. I guess I thought I would be without purpose if he were never here. It's a little correct...I simply wander aimlessly just looking for some sort of purpose, and I cannot find it yet." Pheonix was never taught about life and how to live. Her orders were simply whatever her master willed her to do. She never actually got a chance to socialize with others or simply be herself. And with her form constantly changing, she didn't even know who she truly was.

"I'd prefer not to state why I wouldn't return." Pretending to not notice the mare's startled reaction to her feathers, he remarked, "What would you rather eat? Grass or seeds?" He was quite interested in what her answer would be, but would be fine if she refused to answer. For if seed came out, she was still trapped mainly as a bird, or so he thought.
Ahadzen.... the voice returned, but the stallion ignored it. He was amazed, maybe he was starting to learn to leave his past as his past, he did not know. "Everyone has a purpose, yours will come to you soon - I hope. Maybe its something to do with your feathers and shapeshifting through each life." He was starting to believe that maybe Pheonix was one of King Azreth's magical creations, made to travel around the Isle alone, learning the secrets and such. "Well if the time comes, I hope you can ask your master for true freedom."

Brief disappointment crossed the mare's face which quickly flashed to one of neutrality. She wasn't a foal anymore, she should be used to people telling her no. At his question she snorted. "I eat both sometimes, though most of the time I go in search of...this fruit thing. I'm not sure what it is called, but it is around and comes in colors of red and green. I also like this other fruit with a hard outside with a sweet and tangy inside that's the color of orange. Those are really hard to find." Her stomach started to growl just thinking about the delicious treats. But grass did the trick most of the time.
"Maybe..." She didn't expect this one to fully understand, but he was doing quite a good job of acting like he did - which she appreciated more than she shared. Her tail flicked, feathers rustling gently against the wind and her tail. Her ears fell back against her head for a moment before they perked. "If I ever find him. He may already be long gone from this realm which would mean I...well in a sense I would be free." The thought never occurred to her what to do when she found her freedom. More than likely most would want to start a family. Pheonix simply wanted to learn how to...live. Strange as it was. "But I'd have to have someone teach me how to be free. I guess I can't really function without teachers and masters." It would definitely be an annoying cycle.

Ahadzen tried hard to imagine the fruits that she was describing, but wasn't able to for he had never heard of such a description said. He shook his head to say that he didn't know of those treats she spoke of. With his tail swaying from side to side, he said, "I don't mean to offend you or anything, but you sure do have lots of mood swings..." he stepped back a little wondering if the words had hurt her or not.
Cautiously re-approaching his previous position, Ahadzen was confused. "Another realm?" Then he said it. "I'll help you learn, I mean, I am still learning how to survive on my own though." he offered.

The comment caught the mare off guard. "Mood swings?" She blinked a little as if studying the stallion as he backed away. "I wasn't at all showing any sort of hostility was I?" She let the confusion settle on her face as she looked away a little more unsure than hurt. The mare gave a cough shaking her head. "I suppose I will have to watch myself around you from now on. I apologize if my..'mood swings'.....whatever those are... bother you." Pheonix stretched her frame for a moment as if in deep thought.
Pheonix watched him carefully as he spoke. "Yes. Another world mayhaps. He does that. He'll..hop from realm to realm whenever he grows bored with one. Maybe he has another that is more interesting than me." She looked over the horizon again growing a little curious as to why he would leave so soon. Pressing matters possibly...but there was the still the possibility of him being here. She was more leaning toward the latter than the former. "Well.." Pheonix began studying him again. "Help would be appreciated, but you do not have to feel obligated...maybe we can learn from each other though...Oh I'm not sure. So many things..." The mare gave a gentle snort flicking her tail a little in brief questioning. Her mind began to mull over his offer even if her eyes told another entirely different story of nothing.

"No of course not." Ahadzen spoke shaking his head. "You were not at all hostile. And I'm fine with your mood swings." he'd simply said that for he did not have any simple way for describing it to her. He looked at the clovers beside his hooves and bent down his neck to eat some for he was starting to get hungry once again.
He started to see the picture of what Pheonix had been telling him all along of herself. Yes, it was clearer to him now. In his mind he saw a figure with lots of other animals around, gathering as if he was choosing one of them. Then he saw a familiar figure which was Pheonix being sent from a bird to a somewhat equine figure placed onto the isle. He tried finishing her statement, not knowing if what he would say was what she would have, "So many things that are so different from us that we need to get used to?"

Pheonix gave a bit of a grunt as she listened to him. It was a little...well gladdening that he wasn't upset with her. It made her wonder if there were others who would be upset with her and wouldn't tell her. Then again, she was thankful that he was truthful. At least she thought he was being truthful. But as she stared into Ahadzen's eyes, she saw a sort of sincerity that she had never seen before. As he ate, she felt a little hungry herself and began to graze on the clover field that the stallion had at one point began to rampage. At least they still tasted good.
Pheonix felt another pair of eyes in her mind, but she thought nothing of it. However, it shocked her a little when he spoke as if understanding her plight. "Well...yeah. I mean...adaptation is key to survival. It's something that I've had to learn for a very long time." The mare looked toward him with a bit of a whicker. "I'm...actually surprised you voiced such an opinion."

Feeling her looking at his eyes, he gave a short chuckle. "I too was surprised that I said that."
