Magnetite rolled his eyes.
"I've got more than a few tricks up my sleeves, it depends on the mark. Last night I convinced a blonde idiot I was a corporal in the Salvation Army, and when she shook my hand I drained her. A few days before that, got myself mugged so I could steal the muggers energy. Tonight..."
He reached behind his back and pulled out a clipboard with some fake information on it.
"I was going to be collecting signatures for a petition to build a veterans hospital. Giving a pat on the shoulder or a handshake isn’t hard when you're ‘doing good deeds’."
He shrugged.
"But its warmer than I thought it was going to be. I have to relocate."
He was growing tired of repeating himself to this nega, and growing more and more impatient in the current conversation. He tried to keep his growing aggravation off his face though and keep the conversation moving, he didn’t want to upset a general. That wouldn’t be good for rising in the ranks.

He could always leave. Judging from Ilmenite's own expression, he wasn't much impressed with this new Lieutenant, wasn't horribly amused by the way the guy always had to needle and try to prove he knew everything. Lieutenants didn't know anything, especially not newbie lieutenants stil trying to get their feet under them. It had been the better part of a year for Ilmenite now, hadn't it? And he was still picking things up. Still learning.
This General had little place for people who thought they had nothing to learn.
He didn't answer for a moment, just stared at Magnetite, tapping off the end of his cigarette in a familiar, somewhat ritualistic manner. Bit down on retorts and watched the man, his own usual good humor leaking away to almost nothing.
"What did you say your name was again?" His tone was absent, at least, still mild, not moving from his place against the wall.

"Magnetite."
He looked up and down the street, keeping an eye out for anyone that might be approaching, predator or prey. They were still alone, however, partially to Magnetite’s dismay. He had been hoping to score an easy mark while he was talking and get back ahead tonight.
"And unfortunately my night is not my own, or I could stay. Painite isn't very sympathetic to subordinates who don’t make their quota's, and thus far the weather has put me behind tonight."
He shook his head at the thought. Not a good way to get ahead.
"But perhaps we will run into each other again?"

"Who knows." There was something dry behind his tone, something that implied 'probably not' more than anything else, and Ilmenite finally straightened away from the wall. He flicked his cigarette, watching the smoke trail as it went, and then fixed dark eyes back on Magnetite.
"Lieutenant Magnetite." He could have made up a mocking nickname, he could have called him 'Maggie' or pointedly mispronounced it. He didn't Ilmenite thought that was a sign of maturity and growth, or maybe he was just annoyed enough not to feel like playing games. He waved, one hand raised briefly.
"I'll remember it, anyway." ...maybe not entire done with games, considering the faint rush of wind as he disappeared, teleporting away toward home and leaving the Lieutenant to collect energy on his own.
