Ah Mort, he didn't notice one bit that bringing a living creature in a sundress to someplace cold might make the person uncomfortable. Because, well, food! 8D "Brain too please," he told the attendant, and the yeti nodded before going to start up the mixers. He placed the appropriate amount of seeds (which now made his wallet pitiably empty) on the counter before turning to face Chuppi, leaning a bit against the counter behind him. "Is all good. Mama sends seeds once in while," Mort told her with a smile. Whenever she got a good paycheck at least.
"First, play." He pulled out the poster from his pocket to re-read the available parts. "Has sugar pumpkin fairy . . . rat king . . . prince . . . Syberhouse c-couple . . . Cloodia . . . N' some spots for no speaky: fallen angels, snowflakes, r-rats, dolls, dancers . . . weeds."
Weeds? Mort blinked at the word.

"Must be nice. I get nothing from home, except maybe a letter and a photo once in a while. We live off the land very much." Chuppi was pretty sure that if Amityville wasn't a free school she wouldn't be attending because well...monsters didn't have jobs or money. She was very lucky to be able to speak and read such as it were and that made being in school so much more easily for her. She'd never had clothes before coming to the school and her Thermos had been given to her right as entered, but . . . . .she didn't wanna dwell on that too long.
Instead she looked at the shake that had been handed to her by the yeti ghoul, the monster's face clearly pensive. Was this really safe to eat? If anything she could stew on it for a while and let the talking happen since Mort seemed content to talk. "What do you think you will try for?" It made sense to have a roll in mind when going to auditions, right? At the very least you could try hard and then always end up as a weed. Whatever that was.

His face fell a bit. A letter or photo every once in a while? That didn't sound very homely at all, as far as the definition was in Mort's mind: a warm welcome if/when Mama was home, a monster of a hug from Gregory, story time during dinner where they would exchange the day's happenings . . . What did "living off the land" even mean? Regardless, the zombie concealed his musings and put them away for another time, thanking the clerk as he took his shake and began to swirl it around some with the straw.
"Is safe. Watch!" With a humorously intense look on his face, Mort put the straw to his lips and began to suck that brainfreeze right up until about a third was gone in one go. Within seconds, that chilling sensation which had earned the milkshake its namesake surged through his body. Delicious, delicious pain.
It wasn't normally to force brain freezing to occur, but for Mort it meant a brief reprieve from his ever-electrical brain. Despite a small shiver running through him, the zombie grinned. "Aaaaah~ Okay. P-Play? Was thinking . . ." He swirled the contents of the cup around idly. "W-Was thinking prince, maybe."

"Prince? Is that one of the main roles?" Chuppi looked at her drink after watching Mort take a huge swig of his and she frowned, unsure if she really wanted to drink it after all. Mort was making a weird face as he sipped at it and she didn't really want to think she could make something similar. Perhaps just a little bit longer in waiting wouldn't hurt anyone and so Chuppi continued to try and press on the conversation. "Do...don't you think you'd be nervous?"
Auditions were way different than actually performing, even Chuppi knew that, but she'd had to go in front of an audience before during battle of the bands. That whole period had been a blur considering she cried the whole time and she ended up getting knocked out by a drum before it was all said and done. If Mort though was going to be brave enough to try out for a part, maybe Chuppi should as well. "Maybe...I could be a mom. Is there a mom role?"

Mort nodded at her first question. "I-Is main role, yes. And very nervous, yes."
Did Mort look very nervous that moment? Beyond the stuttering, not so much. Would he on stage? Sweet Sally yes. It was a mix of the goal (free kisses, possible spike in popularity) plus the brainfreeze (mmmmmmldkaldksa that hurts so good) plus a slight adrenaline rush at the thought of performing. He would need to get his act together, so to speak, in order to become a Death Knight as an alter ego.
Also, being a prince would be a nice change scenery.
He took another sip. "B-But will be worth, methinks. Is Mrs. Syberhouse for mom part," Mort said as he showed her the poster again, should she need a reminder of what parts there were to pick from. "Methinks will need practice d-dancing . . ."
Ho boil.

"Yo puedo bailar. I can dance." Chuppi's comment was soft and sincere, not really a whole loud declaration or a sudden offering of anything. It was true she could dance, but it was more or less the traditional dances of her people and involved tails and kicking and smashing spikes against one another. Ballet? She'd never heard of the word and from the sound of it....it could be edible. Ballet, hmmmm. "And...if you do try out then I will try out too, so you do not try alone." At very least if you make the part I can support and help you practice if you like?"
Chuppi wasn't really sure what she'd do for an audition, but she was going to give it her best shot. Playing the roll of the mom didn't sound so bad but maybe she'd look into Cloodia. Not because she wanted to play opposite a prince and do whatever that would do, but because. . . .a chance to get more confident maybe? To not be so nervous? It did't matter, and she still really needed to try this shake. At the very least one sip could appease her companion, he'd spent seeds on her after all, and the monster placed the straw between her lips. She took a deep breath, exhaled, and then took a sip.
. . . . it tasted horrible.

"Yesyes!" Helping whoever got in was a wonderful idea. Now if he could just go and bug his other friends into joining . . . It would be awesome! Like LARPing, but with a script and better costumes and strict plot and music and a legitimate audience.
Now the cherry on this good turn of events would be Chuppi trying out the shake.
Straw to lips. 8D
Bloodfreeze into mouth. 8D??
. . . And then came that face. That face. DDD8
"N-No good?" He didn't know blood tasted all that different warm or cold - but then, he was more particular about flesh anyway. "Was worth try, 'cuz now know. Could try other place?"

"No no, it's fine." Chuppi was lying through her closed mouth, her tongue forcing herself to drink more of the bloodshake. It had been paid for, she was not going to shame herself and act rude by wasting it, so no matter how bad it tasted it was going to be completely devoured by her. If she threw it all up later on (could she throw up at all she didn't know because she never had) then at least she would do it away from him and maybe he'd never know. "Just first taste is weird and shocked is all. Not used to cold things like this, the blood I drink is always warm."
The monster finished the shake quickly and tossed the empty cup into the trash can, her face a little pale and her forehead and nose tingling from a cold and sharp pain. She assumed this would be that 'brain freeze' thing people sometimes talked about when eating something too cold too fast bu Chuppi had never thought such a thing would happen to her. It was a strange and very unwelcome pain so, even if Mort was nice and offered to buy again, Chuppi would not be partaking of a bloodfreeze ever again. "So to think again and say again, you are the prince and I the mother? Should we have second parts in minds too, just in case?"
Research into every part was actually a pretty good idea.

"Aaaah. Yesyes, can do sometimes." He found a safe spineless patch on her shoulder and patted it. Both chilled blood and warm blood had their pros and cons - again, Mort wasn't taking into account what it probably felt like to a living creature when brain freeze occurred. "Thanku!" he told the yeti with a wave before they left; he kept his half-empty cup still, slurping a tad as he pondered over a reserve part.
"Mrrr . . . C-Can do that?" the zombie asked, blinking. "Thought could only do one. If not get, be understudy. B-But if have pick, would say . . . Rat King." A lesser goal with no kissing (that he knew of). "N' if not that, be rat."
To be honest, if he didn't get the prince part, Mort would probably not have his heart fully set in the play; well, unless he got to see boob again. But to not seem shallow or hypocritical in his enthusiasm, he listed the two extra ideas to Chuppi. "Can be what want~ Methinks dance skill will get any part for you."

"Rat King sounds pretty fun, but I think since it is a king girls would not be allowed. Otherwise do you think it would be fun for me to try as well? We could compete, but friendly of course." A competition between two people never really hurt, right? Chuppi actually had never tried out for anything or competed in anything (track had stopped before the season had even started) so this whole 'against other people' thing was quite a bit new. She doubted she would like it but everyone said competition was healthy and she needed to get healthy. "But also maybe you're right about only one part each, so then should make really sure I try for what I am wanting."
When it came time to part ways she'd make sure to go to the library and read up on everything she could about the Cracker of Nuts. . . .and also pick up all the books she'd taken out to begin with. Spending time with Mort was not going to distract her from the original task at hand, which was studying and getting lost in a world of fancy . . . just not necessarily in that order of course but still. "And sure I can dance, but can you? I can always help teach if you want and such."

Hmmm . . . Really, he supposed, it would all come down to how many students even showed up! Perhaps even if they only auditioned for one, "Mr. Ringath" might allocate them somewhere else if they were not as good as their competition.
Gulp. Competition.
"Friendly, yes. B-But no have teach," Mort replied before slurping a bit more of his brainfreeze. "Should do homework n'ways. Have to scare with . . . beans, n' write essay." >> That was going to be a challenge, one the zombie wasn't sure would be fun. "A-Also do research for play. But thanku!"
Besides, Mortimer wasn't sure any amount of dance lessons so close to play time would aid him in the end.
"Also, thanku for coming with," the boil added with a smile. "W-Was good seeing face. 'N curves. N' dress. Need hang out m-more."

Curves? Mort wasn't the first person to really mention Chuppi's curves and the monster was beginning to wonder if they really were a problem. For someone to just bring them up in conversation wasn't a normal thing to do, or so she understood, so perhaps asking around later to a few of her female friends would yield the answer she needed. Either way for now she just smiled timidly, her cheeks blushing from the obvious compliment about her dress.
"Home...oh, homework, yes. you were in acting class too, I have homework from there as well. Perhaps we can meet up later and get it done? I have vials of fake blood and face paint, though I am not so sure how good I can be at scaring someone." Chuppi only knew the blood was fake because the teacher had said so. . . it wasn't like she'd tried to taste it or anything. Not at all. That would have been silly (and it tasted bad anyway). "I think doing lessons and homework together is much better than alone, anyways."
Also he'd said he wanted to hang out more so that would work in her favor. Mort was good company at the very least, even if the food he'd bought for her was nasty. "And yes too! I will make sure to have done research when we meet up again so we can talk over many things."

"Yesyes!" Mort agreed happily, clapping his hands (and brainfreeze cup) together. How Chuppi managed to get so many boxes from the teacher did not concern him - the fact was she was willing to combine her much better selections with his crummy one was more than enough for him. Which reminded him: "Know someone with bad pick too. All can work together maybe?" Edel was certainly polite, so he doubted the ghouls would have problems with each other. Plus, well, she had beans too - nobody should be left behind with just that to make something scary.
"Will text when get answer?" Mort fidgeted in his pockets for a moment before producing a slip of paper torn from somewhere, which had a skellyphone number on it. "You, um . . . has skellphone, y-yes?" Or would he have to endure another Herryk?

"Um...I...do have a skellphone." It was very old and ugly and entirely out of date, but Chuppi did have a skellphone that she'd managed to buy on her own with what few silver seeds she could scrounge up here and there. "And okay, it sounds good to work in a group. The more the merrier and we can get it all done faster." She took the slip of paper from him and tucked it behind her ear, seeing as her dress really didn't have pockets.
Chuppi smiled as she turned to look at Mort, ready to part ways. "I am going back to get my books, I will see you later then." There wasn't much waiting around for a good-bye as she turned on her heels and started off towards the library, really hoping all her books were there. Some of those were important.
