The fist hit her like a train, knocking all of her breath out of her even as it sent a wave of nausea through her gut. She had little choice in the matter of where she went as he pulled and then shoved, sending her stumbling. With her brain on overload from pain, her feet did their best on auto pilot, but eventually she stumbled into a wall and fell. Her shoulder leaned into the rough brick as she slid down roughly, landing flat on her rear end.

Her breath was coming in short bursts and the nausea was swelling behind it, so much of both that she could barely see. It continued that way for a long time, subsiding only as the voice she could only label as 'the jerk' began to speak again.

After a long moment and still with long, unsteady breaths, she shot her bright eyes up to stare at him with a look of loathing. Later she might look back on it as a learning experience that she sorely needed, but in the moment she was only pissed off.

"I'm beginning," she drew in a breath to steady her shaky words, "to regret this agreement. Aren't there any less violent trainers?" For the moment she wasn't even bothering to stand up. She figured it was safer on the ground where he at least had to get to her level to do any serious harm.

Chaonis watched her as she fell. Of course he didn't expect her to beat him. He didn't expect anyone to beat him, obviously, but when he was doing something like this there was more reason behind it than his usual 'awesome' excuse. He was just seeing how she did, what her choices were, whether they did good for her or not. She didn't have to win to show him she was capable of it.

"You think there are less violent bad guys out there? What's the point of training if it goes easy on you? Your enemies won't. You take the p***y way out and train like a wuss, then you won't push yourself and won't get anywhere. If you wanna learn how to really fight, then you really fight. Start off hard, and nothing will surprise you. I hate to break it to you, but we don't get much of a learning curve out here if we run into the wrong bad guy."

He had his fair share of impossible opponents, especially when he was just starting out and he'd run into Generals and try to pick fights. He wasn't going to attack her when she was down, but the hand he offered to help her hand was suspicious for that reason.

"I'm not going to hurt you bad, if that's what you're worried about. We both needed to see what you can do. Outside of whining. Seems we're both aware you're good at that." He grinned at her in a way that was almost good humored, but still entirely untrustworthy.

As much as she hated for anyone to teach her a lesson when she wasn't looking for it, she hated it even more that it was this self-important a** that did so. Still, as much as she hated it, it was still a lesson learned and a point proven.

"You have a point," she stated, acknowledging that his speech had hit home but trying to keep the you are right feeling in her words to a minimum. She had a funny feeling that this guy definitely didn't need anymore boasts to his ego. As she stared up at him she had to wonder if he had started out that cocky or if he had just earned it with those ridiculous butt wings.

Her eyes fell to his hand as he held it out to her in an offer to help her up. She felt just as suspicious as it looked. Yet, his previous words weighed heavily on her mind and she was left asking herself an important question. Did she want to be a snob and ignore him, thus possibly refraining from further injury if he was about to play an awful trick? Or did she give in and accept it as part of her training if he did?

Damn it, it had been a really good speech.

"Don't make me regret trusting you, punk," she said through almost-clenched teeth, placing her hand in his.

Chaonis watched her, liking the stubbornness he saw on her face. It wasn't that he particularly liked seeing 'bits of himself' in others, but he did know what to look for as far as senshi who would succeed. She had that spark in her, he felt, that would at least keep her alive and interesting.

"Punk?"

He gripped her hand and pulled her up suddenly, getting her to her feet and swinging her around a bit just for fun. He didn't let her go, though, and didn't resort to punching her or tripping her. He held her captive for a moment, though, be the hand, dark eyes fixed on her.

"Maybe you need more punks in your life. They get s**t done, and know how to fight for it. Nothing's handed to a punk like me, right? I have to know at least something, if I've kept my a** from dying so far. You don't p***y out, and I won't make you regret whatever trust you're offering. Deal?"

He watched her keenly as he released her hand, tilting his head to the side as he did so, arms folded over his chest in a way that was almost signature to the senshi of danger now.

Her eyes widened slightly in alarm as he pulled her up to her feet so quickly and then spun her. The hand in his tightened around his fingers and held on, as if she were afraid he might spin her right into a wall. It was often that she put herself in a position to control her, but as her feet came to a stop and she was left staring up into his dark eyes, she was suddenly glad that it has just been a bit of jest and not a punch.

But again, he was right. If she'd learned anything in all her days of social climbing and playing the scene, it was that the boys with street smarts were often the ones that knew how to survive when it really mattered. Even if she stood by the semi-insult, it was only because the implications of it shined in him.

"I never quit," she said confidently, tilting her chin up a little in defiance and propping her hands on her hips in her own signature stance that mirrored his. "So we've got a deal."

Chaonis grinned at her, especially after she situated herself with that look of defiance. That was what he wanted to see, in some way, though he sensed she was also mocking him a bit. He was alright with that, too.

"Good," he said, with a laugh.

He took out his phone and made sure to get her information in it, even if she hadn't offered and he certainly had not asked. he rarely did. What was the point, when his phone did it automatically anyway? It's not like she could block him, so asking for permission was just a nicety. And he didn't deal in those.

He looked at her, getting a little more serious, if that were possible. Really, his cutting grin and mocking air ebbed a bit, and he nodded at her coolly.

"Stay alive until we meet up again, eh?" He waved his hand over his shoulder as he turned to walk off, apparently deciding that was enough conversation for one day. He would call her again, probably when she least wanted him to because even his unintentional timing was obnoxious.
