"Oh my God," Camelot said, not in fear, but in utter disbelief. Was he the only man his age out there fighting enraged, laser shooting cats? How did he get into this mess?
He pulled his shield in front of him, the laser hitting it instead of him, which he was thankful for. He was sure she had been aiming for his face, which was already scratched and bleeding from her claws.
This was one of the fights he was just not going to tell anyone about. Ever.
"Alright, you two. You know you're not normal cats and I am not a heartless person! Stop shooting your lasers at me, damn it! I don't want to hurt you but I am also much bigger than you and I have it in mind to use my shield or my crystal now. Do you really want to see what it would do to you in your tiny cat bodies?"
He didn't like cats as much any more. He knew there was a reason he preferred dogs. Hadn't considered it was because cats were literally evil and hated him, but at the moment it made so much sense. He was trying to run them off, his already wounded pride not wanting to give up and run himself. Still, he wished things had gone differently. Right from the start he wished they had. He didn't want them to be his enemies, but the more he tried, the deeper the hole he had dug himself got.
There was no fixing it at this point, he was sure. Not short of proving to them that he meant everything he said. Which wasn't going to happen at the moment, with all three of them as frustrated as they were.

Navi's attention flicked away from the squire very briefly as Leto bumped her head against the side of her neck, and she spared the other DMC the shadow of a smile before she glared back up at their opponent as he shouted his frustrations.
Leto's laser was looked on with hopeful expectation, but it crashed harmlessly into that accursed shield, and the bi-colored cat was left cursing under her breath.
He was shouting at them again, and Navi's eyes narrowed as he went from assuring them that he wasn't a heartless b*****d to threatening them in the same statement. "I don't know how you expect anyone to believe that nonviolent preaching when you turn around and threaten them in the same breath." She sniffed sharply, tail lashing wildly behind her.
"And size isn't everything." Though even as she said it she stood her ground. If he was actually willing to use that crystal on them then they might have a little problem. He might have been a b*****d, but he had a point. There was no telling what that thing would do to such small bodies, when it had done such a serious number on Navi's human one.
She cast a sidelong glance at Leto, silently asking the other cat what they should do.

The energy that it took for her to shoot her laser at Camelot nearly exhausted Leto, and the fact that she could only do it once and failed miserable just upset her even more.
She would however, admit that this was probably the most ridiculous fight in the history of ever. Did two cats with one shot each at using their forehead-lasers really have a chance in hell against a Knight? Obviously not. But apparently they both thought it was a good idea anyway.
At least at the end of it, she had the satisfaction of knowing that she drew blood.
A low growl rumbled deep in her throat as he threatened the two of them with his stupid shield-crystal-ma-bob. She took a defensive step to position herself in front of Navi when she glanced at her.
While Leto knew very well that she didn't stand a chance against him or his crystal, she was stubborn and proud and there was little he could do or say to make her stand down. So instead of doing the logical (and safe) thing, she remained in front of Navi and hissed at Camelot.
"Bring it on, a*****e. I may be a cat right now, but I'm sure as s**t not afraid of you or your precious crystal."

Told off by a cat. It was probably not the saddest or the most embarrassing thing to happen to him, either. The worst part was she was right.
He couldn't just go around threatening them, then trying to tell them he was peaceful. If he didnt want to fight, he couldn't fight. It was getting harder and harder. Not just because the Chaos agents he ran into so often liked to fight, but because he was getting more confident. More capable.
And sometimes he just wanted to know what it was like to win.
Except right now.
"Goddamn it! I don't want to murder cats! And I certainly don't want to hurt you two! Can't you just run off like reasonable people-turned-into-cats? Why do you have to be so hopelessly stubborn? What are you accomplishing, exactly, beyong putting yourself in unneccessary danger and risking your lives for nothing? Can't you see that this is exactly what I'm trying to prevent? This is exactly what this war makes kids like you do, and it's pointless! Cats or not, you're always helpless, never safe. You just don't see it."
He lowered his shield, shaking his head sadly.
"I can't attack you. Not like this. I'll find a way to help you, to cure the chaos that corrupted you. So go."
And that was his answer. Simply not to fight. He didn't know what good it would do, but it was the only thing he could do.

"I wouldn't call it being stubborn," she countered stiffly, sinking down and curling her tail around her toes, though the tip continued it's irritate twitching. "It's determination." Vageuly blind determination perhaps, but it still counted. They had a mission, and they were intent on seeing it through.
That might be a little difficult with them stuck as cats, with nothing but claws and teeth as weapons now that they'd both used their lasers. While Leto taunted, Navi considered.
He wanted them to go, to end this ridiculous battle, and thought she was loath to do anything he suggested, she couldn't help but see the pointlessness in what they were currently doing. "Leto, let's go home." She didn't sound happy about what she was saying, but there was a certain resolve to her voice.
Getting back to her feet the bi-colored cat turned, took a step away, then paused to glare back up at the squire. "I would much rather strangle him with my bare hands then take him down as a cat. There's no satisfaction in it for me."
It wasn't that she didn't think they could beat him. Even cats, they were still members of the DMC and as such they were a hardy bunch. Eventually he'd tire. But it would be a long, drawn out battle, not to mention comical, and when they did finally bring him down they had dainty claws and needle teeth to kill him with. It was not an appealing idea. "Leave him for now, we'll come back when we're human again."

The low rumbling continued inside of Leto, growling while both Camelot and Navi spoke. It was only when her teammate mentioned leaving that Leto stood from her crouched position and turned to look at Navi.
Her ears lowered and her eyes studied Navi for a moment before turning back to Camelot. She sighed heavily and took a few steps backward, feeling defeated. She had never walked away or backed down from a fight before (besides being seriously injured), and she hated that she would start now, with Camelot of all people. But Navi was right, and Leto knew it, so she nodded in agreement.
"Fine." There was nothing else that Leto could say. She took a few more steps backward, not wanting to turn her back to Camelot just yet.
"You can't help someone that doesn't want it, Camelot. I was already a White Mooner once, there is no going back for me, no cure. Sorry, old man."
With that, she turned her back to him and padded away.

Camelot watched as the cats agreed to leave. That was a relief, at least, though he was left stinging in the wake of their words. He shook his head, slowly, opening his mouth to speak but finally realizing that anything he said would just make things worse.
Drag things out. He shut his mouth again, giving them a sorrowful look.
He would not give up, not just because she told him she didn't want a cure. Maybe if he could believe that, but at the moment he couldn't. From what he understood about Chaos, it was a corrupting force. She didn't know what she was saying: she was brainwashed.
He pitied her.
relaxing, he let them run off and did not give chase. He slumped, lowering his shield and almost dropping it, if it weren't attached to his arm. Shaking his head, running a hand through his hair, he turned and began to head home, powering down half way there and wincing as the cuts on his face began to sting.
He doubted he would be able to sleep once he got home.
