JB looked a bit uneasy when she took out the little trinkets she had to show she could catch a runaway mokai. Well, if she insisted.
He knew he needed the help, or would so need the help. With the people not selling out their culls these days for the training pits, and his human help dwindling fast (Carlson seemed still rather peeved the first training session he had with Ai, when his striped mokai had ripped the leather glove without much hassle to it), he needed a new training plan, and fast.
He listened as Lous spoke to her own mokai, the one that resembled Inali somewhat, just lighter in color and missing a horn.
Outside the walls you mean? Inali asked hopefully, his tail barely giving way to a little wag.
“James is fine.” Although his friends called him JB or J Boyd usually, he didn’t mind the proper use of the name.
“I too, have mokai who have not lost a fight. I understand though, while some training methods work for some, others need a different approach.” Ai was undefeated, and even Inali was, with his 1/1 under his belt.
“Give me a time and place.”

Aea nodded to him slightly and smiled, tail swaying behind her back and forth, Yes, it is fun there, you will like it. Though Aea felt guilty she did not tell him about Lous, what she could do to keep him...here, but, perhaps if he went with them as a group, trained there, he would find a sense of loyalty if not to his human, to the settlement, perhaps...to new friendship. Act excited, she said nosing to the large man human, maybe he'll ease up on you till we go?
It was worth a shot.
Lous smiled at him, satisfied.
She looked to the sky, the clouds, and back to the woods.
"Give me...four days, to prep the area in case he is a little hostile, even then. I'll pull out all the stops for ya to make sure he is kept in your stead. But remember, it will be as much for you as for him," she said with an affirming nod.
When she heard of James having a mokai, also undefeated, she smiled, "Perhaps someday we'll find each other in the pit, but Aea is still young, I want to train her well to know how to handle yourself. You other mokai must be quite skilled, you should be proud."
Lous looked to Inali again, and took out another fruit, this was, barely touched, not bruised on the surface at all, and set it down on the ground towards him again.
"You'll be proud of Inali too, if you give him the chance," she said smiling.

Excited? Inali blinked, looking back at his tail as it wagged slightly. …Like that? He obviously still needed a lot more work to be done for her.
“I am.” JB announced. His winning mokai meant more income for him and his wife. (and with the small child in the family, their incomes surely would be flying out the window even faster than Leticia’s spending habits. “Maybe we will see each other in the pits,” JB was quiet not to mention the underground battles. He didn’t know how others may react to them. “Though, I’ll let you know who my bet stands on then.” He flashed an arrogant smirk, his true personality slowly showing up.
“Four days it is then.” His dark eyes looked towards his mokai, who was again inching himself towards the fruit. He shook his head when Inali had taken it, giving him a small pat on the head.
“Well, I best be going. The wife,” a typical term for James to use when Leticia wasn’t around, “doesn’t want him here, so I need to get him to his stall. Until then, Lous. Aea.” JB was quick on his feet as he tugged his resenting mokai towards the compound. Lesson one before they would even think about battling would be to teach Inali better understanding of the leash.

Aea held in a giggle by biting her lip and could only shake her head in a nod. Surely, he didn't know what fun was. She'd have to show him. He needed to see the other side of things here, he hadn't the chance to see, perhaps she could be his eyes and lead the way.
Lous nodded to James as he and Inali walked off, and Lous gave a little wave to Inali as they went.
As they were a good distance away, Lous looked down to Aea and stroked the fur atop Aea's head, "Good girl. Should've been faster with the knot though eh?"
Aea only smiled.
"We'll try to help him, besides," she said as they began walking towards the gates to head outside, "What we teach him won't only be good for the pits," she smiled, thinking, but to help him someday if he wishes to take the outward step.
They had work to do.
