"We're full of history, I guess," Davey shrugged when Evie said she'd wanted to visit England. "And bad weather. Don't visit during the rainy season. PS, it's almost always rainy season."
Davey loved his country, don't get him wrong. He'd been willing to die for it - still was. But that didn't mean that they didn't have some of the worst weather in the world. The natives were used to it - tourists, not so much.
"Maybe we'll get vacation leave at some point," he suggested. He wasn't sure he believed it, really, with the people in charge being who they were. The chances of Caelius and Dr H letting people take holidays seemed quite slim.
He eyed the clip on Evie's hair with interest. "You might be the first trainee to have a healing ability," he said. "Though that makes us complete opposites - Azrael's ability is poison."
The sleepy weapon stirred in Davey's mind, as though he knew he were being discussed.
They were early enough that there wasn't a line in the cafeteria. A few people sitting at tables, but the room was mostly empty. Grabbing a tray, Davey wandered over to the food, eyeing the things on offer.

Eva couldn't help but laugh at the comment about the rain. "Good thing I like the rain. I'll keep that in mind though, thanks!" And she certainly hoped that they could get vacation leave but...ah, probably not. Their superiors just didn't seem like the type to let all the Hunters or trainees go off and relax, and there were other issues with that too, like...
...Well. Eva supposed that visiting her parents would be out of the question. She wasn't sure if the organization actually told the families anything--whether they fabricated stories that they had gone missing, died, or something of the sort--but it just didn't seem like a wise idea in general. She just hoped that her mother and father were actually living out the now-peaceful life that she had intended on them to have.
"I might just been the first trainee who can heal that you've met," Eva replied with a grin, following his lead and grabbing a tray, "I think there are a couple in...er, the Hatchling group." She grew silent as she eyed the choices of food with a little grimace--it could have been worse, she supposed, but she had yet to get used to the food here.
An idea popped into her head as her gaze slid back to Davey. "Will you be training again after breakfast?" Maybe...a spar? She could always use more practice.

"I suppose that's a good thing," Davey considered as he loaded up his plate. "It can never hurt to have a few 'medics' in the field."
The older trainees had been mostly on their own, dependant on the few bandages that they received per mission. To have another option was reassuring. The few healers might find themselves in high demand when the next mission rolled around.
Food chosen, Davey made his way to an empty table - there were a lot to choose from - while making sure that Evie kept up. He grimaced before taking a gulp of the horrid coffee that was always available. Burnt, as per usual.
"Yeah, I'll be heading back out to train after this," he said. Evie had caught him before he could do anything else this morning, so Davey wouldn't slack off twice. "Why do you ask?"

"True! Though..." She hummed thoughtfully as she filled up her own plate, taking only what seemed safe, "You'll have to bear with us being newbies for a bit, I guess. So there aren't any experienced medics around here that we can get some guidance from?" Eva couldn't help but frown a little at this. It was going to be a lot harder if they were left to fend for themselves...but she supposed that was just how this place was.
She slid into the seat across from him, poking at her food with a fork before she turned her attention back onto her fellow trainee. "Oh! Well I mean, did you have anything specific planned? Or would you mind a spar with me--good god."
She took a bite of one of the lumps on her plate and promptly choked at the flavour. Eva made a face, and it was with a great deal of effort that she forced herself to swallow the piece. She didn't even chew it--she just swallowed it quickly and began to cough.
The rest of that particular foodstuff was pushed off to the side of her plate.

Davey shrugged, tucking into his food without tasting most of it. "If there are, I don't know of them. Your best bet is probably to ask D- Clarice," Davey changed his mind mid-name. Yes, definitely better to ask Clarice than to bother the resident mad doctor. "If there's anyone you can learn more from, she'll know. Or know how to find out."
The offer of a spar had him glancing over in surprise - just in time to see Evie try... something not even Davey could identify. He warned her, "Never try anything with the words 'surprise' or 'special' from a cafeteria. I'd also suggest avoiding anything you don't recognise. The simple things might be the best to start off with."
There was a reason Davey usually stuck to ceral, toast or fruit for breakfast. Well, and the coffee sludge, but that was only because tea wasn't provided.
"I'm always up for a spar," he offered. "Make sure you get enough to eat, then. I don't need you fainting on me from hunger."

"I...I'll keep th--" Cough. "--that in mind fo--" Cough. "--for next time." Despite the fact she was having a coughing fit (and her mouth was coated with a disgusting flavour) Eva seemed kind of...amused, as it looked like she was trying to laugh. She picked up her glass of water to wash away the taste, and it was only after about half of the water was was gone did she finally sighed in relief.
"I'll stick with the safe foods." She agreed, pushing anything that looked questionable to the side of her plate. Honestly though..."Are they even allowed to serve some of this stuff?" Eva made a face at the lumps, dropping her fork in favour of picking up a piece of plain toast and munching on that.
Mmmm. Something edible.
Swallowing her bite, she grinned brightly at Davey. "Excellent--thank you, Davey! And I guess I better throw this stuff out and get something I can actually eat. Be right back!" She held her piece of toast in her mouth as she stood up and lifted her tray. Before she could go and toss everything away, though, she found that her gaze was rather fixated on her plate with the lumpy food. Hmm...she wondered if...
Setting the tray back down, she picked up the plate and eyed it curiously. Without warning, she suddenly turned it upside down. The "food" stayed cemented in place.
...
"Good god." Eva mumbled again, voice muffled by the bread. Brows pulling together, she dropped the plate back onto the tray and head for the garbage can. Time to pick out a slightly more healthy breakfast.Kalindara (( <33 If you want to post a wrapping post, we can end this there? And if you'd like a spar, I can start something up! Otherwise, if you don't have the time/aren't in the mood for it, we can just assume that they went out and sparred for a bit. C: <3 *has all the free time in the world now that finals are done* ))

Davey almost smiled. "You'd be surprised at some of things that are served in cafeterias or mess tents. Sometimes I think that anything short of poison or rusty nails is allowed."
That being said, even Davey was surprised when Eva's mystery food remained stuck to its upside down bowl. He was suddenly very glad for his boring, unadventerous tastes.
It didn't take long for Davey to finish his toast, fruit and caffeinated sludge. He waited for Eva to return before pushing to his feet. "I'll be in the gym. Come find me sometime if you'd like to spar."
It hadn't been a bad breakfast, even if it was more social than his usual. Eva was more grounded than some of the other recruits, which Davey could appreciate. She wasn't bad in battle. Overall, Davey was looking forward to seeing what she was made of.
"Thanks for breakfast," he said with a nod as he left.
