"Then you can be sure we will. Just have your dragon bespeak me or Dynith. We'd be happy to spend time with you." Optheli loved being around others. Particularly to make them happy. She had a hunch that neither dragon nor rider were happy with current curcumstance. Who would be? Though it was for their safety.
Slowly she wandered through the field, picking flowers here and there. What was it like really? Really a lot different than her life now at the Weyr. A soft voice entered her mind. Do you like your new life Mine? Are you sad about leaving the caravan? The green's eyes whirled anxiously. She didn't want to made Her's sad. Optheli had to smile. Yes Dynith I love my life here, and I love you. I wouldn't change anything. Sometimes I miss it, but then I have you. She turned to Narisa. Her eyes focusing once again.
"Yup, the Camrann Caravan to be specific. It was exciting. Never staying too long, but long enough to make new friends. There was always something new around the bend. Sort of like with the dragons. There's always something new when you fly." She grinned. Her arms were full of flowers. Optheli knelt down and started to craft them together.
"If you don't mind my asking, what's it like being a vintner?" She hadn't learned much about wines being a spice apprentice. Well except they tasted good. Optheli joined Narisa when she giggled. "I wouldn't be surprised. It was all over the Weyr. Scarath likes his treats, and particularly dainties, fresh as can be. Which means right out of the oven. When he was smaller there wasn't too much of a problem as long as S'kor could keep him in the corner."
"Well S'kor told him to stay put outside, but Scarath got impacient and tried to go in. He didn't realize that the reason he was told to stay out, was because he'd been growing. Scarath quickly realized he didn't fit in the tunnel anymore." She gave a nod. "Yeah. Walked right up there past everyone. At least Dynith didn't do that. She just came to the edge and called up to me. What about Cepheith?" No rider could resist talking about his or her dragon, Optheli had learned.
Dynith, once reassured that her rider was happy, settled carefully down beside the gold. It was slowly becoming easier to relax. She looked up at the gold and blinked. I think I am alright, and Mine is fine. She is sad that everyone is sad, but she tries to help them. Tries to cheer everyone up. Like she was cheering Cepheith's rider right now. She loved how Hers did that.

"I will definitely keep that in mind!" Narisa said with feeling, meaning it. She did not really have many here she could call 'friend'. It was a nice change to meet someone like Optheli, who didn't seem to mind hanging with the gold pair. Or at least treated her like the girl she was and not some royal person or something. A snort reverberated in her mind and Narisa internally sighed. That was one thing she was still trying to get used to, even after half a turn or more of being a rider. The 'status' that came with being bonded to a gold dragon made her feel small and doubtful of her ablities on many different occasions. But Cepheith had faith enough for the both of them. And then some to spare.
Narisa trailed along with Optheli while the dragons went to lay somewhere they wouldn't trample the flowers. "It sounds like it was pretty exciting! Must have been pretty nice traveling around and seeing different places too." She smiled, sitting down next to Optheli. "Never ventured past my home and the market. That's one of the things I can honestly say I truly enjoy about being able to fly with Cepheith." Narisa glanced up towards the sky almost wistfully. She wished they could be flying right now. "I get to see so much more than I ever would have back home." There was a warm agreement in the back of her mind from the gold as well.
"Bein' a vintner?" She tilted her head thoughtfully. "Busy. Lots of things to learn. Always experimenting with ways to grow the fruits used to make the wines. Like best fertilizer, better to keep plants indoors or outdoors. Best time of the turn to harvest them." Narisa leaned back on her hands, arms stretched out behind her. "Then there was the actual brewing process. Crushing and pressing grapes was fun. We also all had to some minor woodwork for carving out corks. Bottles and jars we'd get from this really nice family of smiths that specialized in glasses."
Now she was laughing at the image formulating in her mind. "That is...ridiculously adorable in it's own way." She admitted, laughing at the snort from Cepheith. "Did he get those tasty treats he was trying so hard to snatch?" Okay now she definitely wanted to meet this bronze pair. They sounded fun!
"Cepheith?" She glanced over at the gold, a loving expression flickering across her face before she turned back to Optheli. "Well, it was pretty intense when she finally hatched. There was a small fear that maybe she was a dud egg. But she hatched and made her way through the girls. Though there was this one girl that foolishly snapped at her. Got right under Cepheith's hide." They had all thought there would be blood shed. "Thankfully, nothing happened beyond bruised ego's."
She couldn't remember this, but was able to pick the images from her riders mind. Then that foolish girl deserved to learn her place. The gold rumbled quietly, rubbing her nose along a foreleg. She extended a wing to partially rest over the green beside her. Yours does a splendid job at it! She is very kind and sweet. Just like you. Cepheith tilted her head to eye the flowers nearby. Lowering her head closer, she sniffed delicately at the flowers. They had a nice scent about them. These smell nice! She said cheerfully to Dynith, feeling much more relaxed being out here in the sun.

Optheli realized she needed to spend more time with the riders of Trine. It felt like she didn't know many of them. Well that was something she could easily rectify. Dynith might be shy around the dragons, but that could change. She glanced approvingly at the green sitting with the gold. It was a very, very good start.
"It was. Though it could so easily get dangerous too. The Holdless, felines, weather. I think what I loved best about it, was being there with my brother. Now it's better cause I'm still here with him." She laughed. Eagerly she listened as Narisa spoke of making wines. Her fingers worked quickly with the flowers in her lap. "Mmmmmm-hm. It's amazing to fly. So much faster than our caravan went."
"Wow, I had no idea so much work went into them. I suppose each craft has that; I didn't know how much know-how one needed for dragons. Sometimes we transported wines too. There we are!" Proudly she presented the completed flower crown to Narisa. "Oh that would have been dreadful, fearing a queen egg might be a dud. I thought all duds were small. Well I have to say Cepheith is a wonder beast, no matter what that girl thought."
Dynith tried not to shrink away as the gold extended her wing. Oh dear was her own wings folded in tightly enough? She didn't want to get her wings tangled with the gold's. It surprised her as the broad gold wing rested over her. For a moment her eyes whirled yellow, then the gold's thought came through. She did a half croon. Even Cepheith liked Hers.
If Dynith could have blushed, she would have. Thank you Cepheith. Curiously she watched the gold sniffing flowers. Oh that looked interesting. Spotting one nearby she lowered her muzzle to it and inhaled deeply. She jerked her head back with a surprise sneeze, then snort when the flower wound up her nostril.

Narisa nodded. Yes, she imagined that for all the excitement and places you got to see being part of a caravan, there were definitely dangers involved in it as well. She offered a soft smile at mention of her brother again. Narisa didn't have any siblings and those that were around her age back home were too busy learning their craft. Like she had been.
"I bet you both were really shocked to find you both Impressed." She said kindly. "I know I would have been! And that's totally awesome that you both were able to and could be at the Weyr together."
Mention of flying again had that smile appear that any rider who had ever flown could understand. Yes, it truly was amazing to fly. "I have to be honest, I was a little scared at first. But Cepheith insisted we try flying once she was strong enough. I was so nervous as I strapped on her flying gear and mounted. But after that first shock of taking flight....I've been in love with it ever since." They just didn't get to do much flying right now. Something that Cepheith was scheming to protest in some way. Which Narisa had been using extra energy to keep her from doing anything rash.
Narisa laughed. "Aye, there is a lot more that goes into things then we all suspect. And I know! I had no idea how much I really needed to learn about dragons - especially golds!" The goldrider blinked at the crown and gave Optheli a big grin, delicately taking the flower crown to place atop her own head. The scent of the flowers drifting down from it were relaxing. "It's lovely! Thank you."
The gold rumbled her appreciation from where they lay. Thank you, darling. Cepheith responded before Narisa could. She had noticed the slight tense and uncertain posture in her green companion. At least Dynith hadn't bolted though. The gold felt this was a very good accomplishment!
You are welcome. She watched Dynith mimic her and lower her nose to sniff at the flowers. A soft rumble of a laugh followed the surprised sneeze and snort. Cepheith leaned over and licked the green's snout gently. Perhaps they are just not meant for a dragon to smell! She said lightly, almost teasing, the tip of her tail flicking. Cepheith was rather happy being in the company of Dynith.

Optheli flashed her fellow rider a grin. There was nothing she knew that could describe the initial feeling of Dynith reaching into her mind. She could feel a flow of love from the green even now.
“Well we hadn’t been Searched, so there was no hint that we might. I think everyone hopes, but it’s truly a surprise when it happens. If S’kor had Impressed and I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been upset. Though I would have surely missed him.” When the bronze had made his way up into the Stands and settled beside Silbakor, Optheli had been beside herself with delight. Her brother had Impressed the beautiful beast that had passed by all the other candidates. How could she have been jealous of that?
“There is nothing like it is there?” She shared a glance, rider to rider. That feeling as a rider flew with his dragon was reserved for the privileged few; Optheli wasn’t sure passengers ever truly understood. She felt so free on Dynith’s back soaring through the skies. A grin crossed her face. “Oh I understand. I felt so ignorant on dragon-everything as a very small cotholder does in a huge Hold.” Dynith had helped a great deal at first, and it didn’t take long for Optheli to settle into her new life. Even her brother seemed to adjust well. As if Scarath would let him step wrong.
Optheli watched Narisa put on the crown critically. Yup, it fit just right; she still had it. “It looks great on you!” She blinked as Cepheith spoke to her and laughed, “Your both welcome. I’ll need a lot more flowers for yours though.” Her eyes twinkled with mischief. Brushing her skirt she rose to her feet. “Help me pick some more flowers. The longer the stem the better.” Optheli moved into a patch thick with flowers and carefully started picking them, making sure she got the stems long. Occasionally she would pause to smell them. The gold and green would be the envy of all the girls.
Oh not me Mine. Dynith couldn’t imaging that having a couple flowers would make the boys any more interested in her. Now the gold…… the gold for sure. She was already so pretty. The green turned her attention shyly back to her companion. Embarrassed she’d witnessed her flower inhalation. They are more fragile than I thought. I understand now why Mine wanted us off them. She sounded a bit chagrined.
Non-sense, you’re as every bit as pretty as the golds.

Narisa smiled, nodding at the other rider. "I guess I was lucky in the sense that I got Searched. Though it was a huge shock when a rider came by the hall, that was for sure. I was pretty nervous when they offered me the chance to come to the Weyr." She flashed a grin at Optheli. "But I'm glad I did."
The look that crossed her face was a knowing one. "There really isn't." Narisa replied with a longing gaze sent up towards the sky. "I don't think I'll ever tire of flying." She grinned back, a small laugh escaping as well. "I know, right? I would like to think I have gotten better. Understand more than I did before. Especially about how the Weyr works as a whole. But I'll be the first to admit I have a lot to learn still." A small part of her inwardly cringed and felt anxious. She was worried about Abigail still. Very worried. Narisa tried to shove that anxious feeling back down for now. Cepheith helped there by feeding her those warm, fuzzy feelings of affection.
"Thank you!" Narisa carefully adjusted the crown so it wouldn't fall off while she moved. And when she inhaled, she was pleased to find the scent of the flowers floating down from the crown. "The flowers smell so lovely as well!" Nodding, Narisa got to her feet, brushing off her pants in the process. "Right! Longer stems." She followed after Optheli to the thicker patch of flowers and carefully moved through them as she examined the stems while snatching up those she thought would work. "I'll take a wild guess, and say we need a lot of flowers?" She giggled and shot both dragons an amused look.
Very observant of you, Narisamine. Cepheith said in dry voice, eyes hooded in contentment. It was lovely out and the sun felt wonderful! Her tail flicked at the tip while she listened to Dynith. Yes, but there are so many of them! I'm sure a few trampled flowers won't be too sorely missed. Cepheith paused and, sifting through some of Narisa's thoughts, changed the topic to something else. So what is your favorite thing to do, Dynith? She asked curiously, tilting her head slightly towards the other dragon.

"Welcome, it looks good on you." Letting the goldrider gather more flowers, Optheli looked at her armful and settled down in a small patch clear of flowers. Her fingers worked quickly to make the start. "I think everyone feels inadequate. Don't be too hard on yourself Narisa." Optheli encouraged her fellow rider. They had to be strong for the dragons.
She giggled glancing at the two dragons. "Well I can do one big crown or a couple small ones to fit around her head knobs. Which would you prefer Cepheith? If there's not enough long stems I can always work in some shorter ones once it's done." Optheli had learned early to work with what she had.
Ismay puffed herself up. Everyone was talking about the fluttering things in the wind. She could do stuff too! The little green took off from her perch on Dynith and hovered over the field. Soon she spotted a pretty flower. Grabbing it her mouth she flew back to deposit it on the gold's foreleg. Dynith watched Ismay startled. Hers had infected everyone with a flower bug. Distractedly she wondered how one could taste. Looking back up at the gold, Dynith froze. What did she like to do?! She couldn't remember! Her eyes whirled yellow with panic. Mine! Miiiiiine! Cepheith wants to know what I like to do! What should I tell her?! She was definitely panicking.
Optheli looked over to her dragon worriedly at the first call sensing the worry. She relaxed and smiled as the green explained. Well you like to sunbathe and getting your hide oiled. Spending time with me and Ismay. Quietly she encouraged and calmed the dragon. Dynith had stretched her neck as far as it would go to get her head closer to her rider. As the answers came, her eyes slowed from their frantic whirling. Sunbathing is fun, and I like when Mine oils my hide. Or spending time with her and Ismay. What about you?

Narisa smiled, a big warm thing that felt nice having the chance to use it. It felt like lately, she'd not had much of a chance to smile. Maybe a small one here and there. But like this? No. It was a nice change. As was the fact that even her dragon was feeling so on edge and uptight. Really, they both had just needed a small break. And what better way to accomplish that then spending time with a sweet rider and her dragon!
"I try not to be." She admitted sheepishly, picking several more flowers up. "And Cepheith tells me the same thing every day." Narisa threw a fond look back over at her dragon before glancing at Optheli again. "Still need a lot more flowers?" She asked, walking back over to deposit the bundle she'd picked.
As lovely as a big crown would be, I believe a couple small ones would be fantastic. And much easier. The gold mused, hooded gaze glancing down at the flowers. They were so small! And the 'crown' that Dynith's rider had made for Hers would probably be much harder to make for her golden head! And speaking of flowers, Cepheith watched the little firelizard swoop in and snatch a flower then place it against her leg. A soft croon of thanks was given as well as happy thoughts. Carefully, Cepheith lowered her snout to bump the little green in a show of affection.
Sunbathing is indeed fun and nice! She agreed, head cocked while she listened and considered what she herself liked. This required sifting through thoughts in her rider's mind first. I also like sunbathing. And flying too. And very much enjoy the time I get to spend with Mine. She paused, thinking (and borrowing her rider's mind). I've also found a fascination in organizing things. Like Mine's stuff. This was said with an amused snort. It had been much easier to do this when she was smaller, but she still found ways to continue doing so. Like telling Narisa where to put that shirt.

"Sometimes it can't be helped hm?" Optheli nodded sympathetically. "And those males are utterly useless too I'd bet. Typical narrowminded males. Still she gave the goldrider a broad grin. "At least Cepheith understands. I've never had a friend like Dynith." She sent a fond glance toward her dragon and thoughts of love.
Optheli looked at the flowers in her hands and a quick glance at the gold. "Nope, bring those over here and I'll finish these up in a jiffy." Her practiced hands made short work of stringing the flowers together, and she nodded gratefully to Narisa when she handed the remaining flowers over. In moments the two loops of flowers was complete. "There you are." She cheerfully handed them over.
Ismay trilled at the gold happy her work had been acknowledged, then fluttered her way back over to Dynith. The green had to agree with Cepheith about spending time with her rider. Hers never minded having a green shadow, usually right underfoot. Dynith tilted her head at the thought of organizing. Mine is always neat. She says there's not a lot of room in wagons and a little clutter makes a biiiig mess. But she's not in a wagon now, but a proper weyr with lots of room. Mine says old habits die hard. Why would they die hard?

Narisa chuckled, agreeing for the most part, with what Optheli said. Though to be fair, Narisa had to admit she hadn't had as much contact with some of the males (or bronzeriders really) as everyone else might think. Sometimes having a gold that was grumpy from being cooped up too long came in handy. Still...she wouldn't be able to avoid them forever. Not with Cepheith growing every day.
"Those poor males won't know what they are getting themselves into until Cepheith sets them to cleaning the Weyr!" She laughed, glancing towards her dragon. "And yes. She very much does understand." A soft smile formed along her lips.
She did as she was told, bringing the flowers over and watching as Optheli worked her magic again, making it look like a simple process. Narisa was positive, though, that if she attempted to string the flowers together like that, it would look like a flower explosion. "Wonderful!" The goldrider took the loop of flowers, holding it up gingerly to show Cepheith. "I think this will fit around your paw."
It looks lovely. Thank you. Cepheith crooned softly in thanks to Optheli, head tilted as she regarded the string of flowers her rider held. I think you are right, mine.
Cepheith watched the happy little firelizard flitter back over to Dynith. Such a happy little creature. And sweet, like her green companion. Mine just says I get too bored. But sometimes things just look out of place and need to be moved around! She cocked her head to the side slightly, considering what Dynith asked. I am not sure. Perhaps it is similar to that phrase I've heard before..... Cepheith paused for a moment, searching through her rider's mind for the phrase. The bigger they are, the harder they fall? But how do habits fall? Or die? Now she was confused. Humans say strange things. The gold concluded.
