Success! Chloe's heart gained back that glimmer of hope as she saw Shadow stop in her tracks. It worked! "Now go for another thunder bolt!" No more playing practice-the-kicks, now was the time to hit the enemy as hard as they could.
Bandit panted and shook, a sigh of relief leaving his body as he saw that Shadow was unable to strike the ground again. Taking this opportunity, he obeyed his trainer and let out a powerful bolt of electricity rather than the soft, paralyzing bursts.

Socks closed his eyes. "Nonononono," he repeated to himself in a mantra. He didn't want to se this happening. He hated seeing his pokemon get hurt! But surprisingly, he didn't hear any groans of pain.
At the last minute, Shadow's nerves seemed to obey her and she rolled out of the way of the damage. Now on the ground, with electricity still cackling around her, Shadow seemed like quite a sad sight. But the empoleon was full of determination - she could see victory in her reach.
"EMPOL!" She shouted, trying to order her body to slam yet another wing onto the ground.

Chloe growled under her breath as the Empoleon seemed to tumble out of the way at just the wrong moment. What horrible luck. She wasn't taking that risk again if she could help it. Still, she was relieved that the opponent still wasn't moving, and they were free to keep attacking.
"This time use Shockwave!"
Bandit nodded and altered the power of the electricity he was sending out, somewhere in between the power of Thunderbolt and Thunder Wave, and with deadly precision. The smaller bolts arced all over the ground in all directions, several of them making it into the opponent with a crackling sound.

The attack struck with dead accuracy this time and Socks really should have looked away but he could not help but look on in sick fascination as his empoleon groaned in pain.
Shadow refused to stay down though and struggled back onto his feet. She quickly glanced assuringly at her master. She WOULD win this! She wanted to prove to him, to prove to the world, that she was strong. She once again willed her body to move and attack.

"Again, quick!" Chloe tensed up as the Empoleon stood up. Were the effects wearing off already? "Hit her with another Shockwave!" Even if they were wearing off, she was still too slow to get another attack in before Bandit could use Shockwave again, that much she was sure of. Could they win this? Really? It was going to be close either way, she knew it.
Bandit's breathing began to settle after going a while without being hit so hard. He knew it couldn't last though, not unless he could finish this fight quickly, and so he continued pumping out wave after wave of electricity in all directions. There was a part of him that wanted to just use his Thunderbolt for more damage, but he resisted. Obeying his trainer or not, he couldn't risk missing another attack this late in the game.

Shadow let out another cry of pain as it was, once again, hit by a deadly accurate shockwave attack. Still, Shadow refused to budge from her upright position. She could feel the effects of the paralysis wearing off, it wouldn't be long now until she could knock that horse down and into a ditch forever.
Socks could sense the ominous angry vibe hovering above Shadow and gulped. His pokemon sure seemed angry.
Letting out an angry grow, Shadow tried to force her body to move.

"It's working!" Chloe cheered, "Keep going, Bandit, you can do it!" She hesitated, unsure of if Shadow could move yet or not. Oh well, they had to keep going with the damage if they wanted a chance. "Shockwave again!"
For the first time in his life, Bandit disobeyed his trainer's orders. He knew something she didn't, he could sense fine changes in electricity and this Empoleon was about to have freedom of motion again, which meant more earthquakes and more pain.
Not if he could help it.
The electric pulses once again became soft and deliberate, focused directly on his opponent.

With a yell, Shadow thrust out her arms and shook off the last of the electricity. She felt triumph for a moment before yet another thunder wave hit her. Socks groaned at the turn of events. He didn't want to see his pokemon get hopelessly beat up any further.
"Shadow, do something, please! Please end this, I don't want to see you hurt any more!"
Shadow pitied her trainer for a moment. He cared for her so much. But she couldn't help but enjoy the thrill of this battle, despite her bad run in with the electricity. She redoubled her efforts to command her body to launch another earthquake attack. For the sake of victory - for the sake of her trainer.

"No!" Chloe couldn't help but be angry with Bandit, he had deliberately disobeyed her order, and not only that, it didn't seem to have worked! But that wasn't important now, right now they just had to get through the battle. She could talk to him about his behavior later. "Thunderbolt!"
Ok, so maybe using Thunder Wave again wasn't such a good move. Bandit had the pain to prove it. His vision began to blur as he struggled to right himself and send another bolt flying at his opponent.

Shadow felt that she was once again in full control of his body. There was no more stinging electricity to halt his movements. This was her chance.
Fearlessly, she rushed head on at the thunderbolt attack, wing glowing white in preparation for her most accurate move.
"Shadow! WIN!" She vaguely heard Socks yell in the background and felt all the more empowered.
"EMPOL!" She replied, more determined than ever. The electricity meant nothing to her now when so much adrenaline was building up. She finally got close enough through all the electricity to land a good hit at the Blitzle and took a swing.

As Bandit crumpled to the ground, unconscious, Chloe was already running down off her trainer's platform to get him. "Bandit..." She cradled his head in her lap as she knelt beside him. "You did so well, go ahead and rest. I'll take care of you when we get home." She cooed, though she knew he couldn't hear her. She pulled out his pokeball and recalled him to it before standing and facing her opponent and his Empoleon.
"That was a good match, you both are very strong." She offered a kind smile that hid her irritation quite well. "We should battle again sometime." And with that she turned and headed out of the stadium rather hurriedly, wanting to make sure everything was alright with Bandit as quickly as possible.
