Tch, ******** thing got Ryan but it looked like he was alright. "No clue, but I sure as all hell didn't expect one!" Moving to strike, the thing moved away from the sword. Damn it. "Think we can kick it's a**?"

Ryan chuckled. "Well, I guess it happens, otherwise there wouldn't be a guard post here." He shrugged, bracing himself for another attack, only to watch it strike at Marcus.
He shrugged again, giving the creature a long look. "Probably... It doesn't seem particularly strong..." He answered, swiping at the creature again, only to tear through air, as the black beast moved out of the way. It was quick, he'd give it that much credit.
"Think if we ask it nicely, it will sit still and let us kill it off?" He asked, an amused grin on his face.

"I wish fights were that easy." The monster was going down if Marcus had any say in it. "I Don't suppose you have some nifty charged FEAR attack do you?" Ducking low, he aimed for it's legs, managing to get a light stab it. "I saw it nicked you, nothing to bad I hope?"

It swiped it's claws at Ryan, letting something or a shriek out at them both. It swung high however, missing Ryan by a good foot.

Ryan snorted and shook his head, evading the creatures attack with ease.
"Unfortunately, no." He answered. "Locke is healing type. The most I'd be able to do for you is heal up any scrapes and cuts you get and if lucky stop the bleeding of anything more serious." He shrugged and took another swipe at the beast. This time striking it directly on the nose.
"What about you?"

Actually that was a pretty good thing in Marcus's opinion. Healing could save a life, and technically, they could all attack, but not everyone could heal. "Not bad, everybody needs some support right?" He certainly did. No way he'd be able to take some things on on his own. Like this monsters for one. "Dis just sprays some acid."

"I guess so." If anything, he supposed he could heal his a** if he was ever getting it handed to him again, like back in the Sahara. Just remembering that day annoyed him. He didn't want to be that useless ever again...
"Acid--from a sword? That's pretty nifty." He answered, hoping that he'd never be on the receiving end of that. He doubted he would though. This monster on the other hand, might not be so fortunate.
"This thing doesn't seem to be very strong, almost makes me feel bad for killing it..." He said, as he struck it again, this time bringing his heel down on it's back in drop kick. As bad as he may feel bad for having to end it's life, he'd feel far worse if it ever hurt someone.

"Don't feel bad for killing it, these things need to die in my opinion. Them or us, as highlighted by our last mission." In his head, Dis was saying 'do it', use the venom. As he brought the blade up, he slashed it down, cleaving the monster in half. It dissipated, probably for good with all the hunter machines working with FEAR. "That takes care of that. You okay?"

Need to die... He supposed that was true. Still, the idea of killing something for simply existing was a little sad in his opinion, but when said creatures were dark beings that killed humans, it couldn't be helped. When it all boiled down to it, it was one or the other, and he had no plans of tossing in the towel anytime soon, nor was he going to stop protecting others because of it.
So when Marcus cut the creature in two, there was no remorse, as he watched it's body dissipate into a black smoke; leaving nothing but a splatter of blood here and there.
"I'm fine." He answered. "It just scratched me is all. I've had worse from my sisters cat." The mean old thing who liked everyone except him. He did not miss it. "That was a pretty sweet attack though. Your charge attack?" He asked. Though after their recent discussion, and having seen the acid, the answer was pretty clear.

That was good, Marcus had been a tad worried that Ryan had gotten drained. Granted, he didn't look like it, but who knew. Stranger things had happened. "Cats? Egh, when you hit monster land you'll have your day with cats. Enough of em there you're bound to run into something. And yeah." Holding up Dis, the blade was practically purring in his head, asking if there was anymore FEAR to drain. Marcus just kept telling him to shut up.
"It's nice but, in the long run healing is probably better." checking his watch he motioned to the portal. "We can probably head out and get a more experienced hunter to replace us. If there is one, might be more, and-" He chuckled. "Well, figure that is enough action for me for the day."

"Hopefully not." He muttered. He didn't know what it was about cats, but they didn't seem to like him very much. Or at least his sisters cat didn't anyways.
"I don't know. I think it would depend on the situation." He shrugged, smiling. "Though I'm happy to hear otherwise."
:Me too. Nice to know that someone appreciates me.: Obviously the conversation had offended Locke.
"Yeah probably wise. At least it passed the time by." He looked down where the creature had previously been and frowned. As easy as it had been, he did not want to find out what those creatures would be like in packs and if there were any others hanging about, they would need hunters with long range weapons.
"Thanks for the calling me for the job, by the way. It was... interesting." He called back; giving the other trainee a small wave before he passing through the portal.
