Once Petro had Sheridan grounded, he immediately attempted to connect his fists with the dragon's face. The horse monster favored the ground-and-pound method. He had, however, failed to anticipate the combination of Sheridan's tail together with the kick from the dragon's legs. It was strong enough to stun the horse monster that by the time he regained his senses, the dragon was way out of his reach. "Good strategy y're using, Sheridan!" Petro complimented, bare feet pawing the ground in anticipation for his opponent's next move.

The moment he was free of the horse's grasp, Sheridan had put his wings to use, taking to the air with a single powerful beat. Now he circled overhead, tail lashing, eyes narrowed as if debating his next move.
"I'd have to say yours isn't bad either."
And then he dove claws first toward Petro, reaching out in a strike that may have been unexpectedly aggressive. The goal was to knock Petro off his feet and then send him crashing into the ground.
Whether it worked or not, Sheridan wasn't staying still, he would turn to the air again, deciding that a hit and run strategy would be the most effective.

The tikbalang narrowly dodged the dragon's incoming attack as Sheridan dove for him. It seemed Tro wouldn't be able to use the same technique as earlier when he tried to swipe at the other boil. The dragon had taken back to the sky. It's alright Tro, just wait it out. Sheridan is bound to give you an opening.

Though Sheridan may have been taller than Petro, it was likely the horse outclassed him in weight and physical strength. He snorted at himself, he should have known better than to try taking Petro off his feet from above, not in his student form at least.
His tail lashed, he didn't dare move in too close, if he did Petro was sure the catch him and he did not like the idea of slamming into the ground again. This time he chose to strike from a distance, taking in a breath and then exhaling a wide spray of frozen plasma in the horse's direction.
The plasma may have appeared as normal ice, but such an assumption would have been a great mistake. It was far colder and far more unpleasant against bare skin; a burning, penetrating cold. That is if it hit..

Petro had anticipated Sheridan would try attacking from a distance. Most flyers did. And after seeing the breath attack from earlier, Tro was ready to dodge. As he dove out of the way, he shifted into his real form, using his additional height, he leapt at the celestial dragon, his knuckles grazing the other boil.

Sheridan's eyes widened in surprise, oh jack he had not expected that. Petro's leap was as impressive as his natural form, and it was only through sheer luck and a rapid climb that Sheridan had managed to escape what he expected would have sent him crashing to the ground. Nevertheless that strike had stung against his scales.
Petro was too fast, he had gotten too close for a ranged attack. The dragon snapped his tail, a powerful lash aimed at the horse. Maybe if he knocked him away he could buy a moment to rethink his strategy.

Brown eyes saw the incoming lash from Sheridan's tail in time to block with his arm. In one smooth motion, he grabbed the appendage, and used his weight to try and pull Sheridan back to the ground. Petro had to give credit to Sheridan. Distance was definitely the dragon's advantage, along with his wings but Petro had fought against a certain Valkyrie before and he gotten an essential lesson when dealing with winged opponents: Grab and Lock. Sheridan might have felt a tightening grip on his tail the longer Petro held on.

There was a snarl followed by an ear piercing roar as Petro caught his tall, a cry of anger and surprise. If there were one action that would pushed Sheridan to truly fight to win, Petro had just done it. From that moment on, Petro would notice a difference in Sheridan's actions, now he was serious.
It may have been difficult to pinpoint exactly when his skull pin had been discarded, but Petro would have suddenly found he was latched to the tail of a celestial dragon in his true form, his long slender body reaching over 20 feet long.
The dragon thrashed, whipping around his full length as he flew around the gym, his tail lashing with his full force in an attempt to throw Petro from his tail, or at least weaken his grip

Seems like Petro found Sheridan's equivalent to being ridden. So the tail was a bad spot to touch for the celestial dragon it seemed. He remembered vaguely, and more of the aftermath and less the actual of his spar with a different reaper, the fury he felt and couldn't help but feel his muzzle pull into a grin of anticipation. His ears twitched erratically and gave the dragon a swift swat with his hoof before letting go to land on the ground.
The tikbalang grunted upon impact. He'd fallen quite a height.

The moment he felt the grip released from his tail, Sheridan climbed to the ceiling of the gym, his long body snaking as he reached for the point of highest altitude. He paused only a moment, turning back toward Petro, diving toward his opponent with the full stregth of his momentum. Taloned hands reached out, reaching to catch the horse, slashing at uncovered shoulders.

This was it! The chance Petro was waiting for! At the very last moment, he ducked into a crouch, Sheridan's outstretched arms and sharp talons missing him by a hair's breadth. From his position on the ground, the muscles in the horse monster's legs tightened like a coil, and with a grunt, he threw a fist right at the dragon's exposed underbelly.

All he saw was light, a flash of stars. He couldn't breathe, the force of the blow sending him reeling, crashing into the ground in a mass of coils, tail, and mane.
He was slow to find his feet, panting for breath, shaking his head to clear it, to shake the stars from his vision. His senses regained, eyes narrowed, a low growl in his throat. That was stupid Sheridan, stupid, used your head!
A snarl, his head reared back a moment before draconic jaws opened again to release a burst of frozen plasma. But this time he wasn't staying back, behind that plasma he was coming, charging with his head lowered, antlers aimed to ram the horse.
Well, that's one way to use your head...

Oh, oh! Petro knew that plasma was going to hurt like hell if Sheridan caught him with a full blast. Unless... it was a risky move but Tro wasn't really one to shirk from danger. Just as the celestial dragon lunged at him, powerful legs kicked off the ground, launching Tro up into the air. The timing to his jump wasn't perfect as the antlers managed to graze Tro's ankles. Thankfully his bracers caught most of the brunt. When he reached the apex of his jump, Tro dropped a knee aiming for the dragon's lengthy back.

Oh jack he had missed! The wall, wall, WALL! There was the sound of talons scraping and clawing at the floor, skidding as he tried desperately to change direction before he collided into the wall.
There was a sharp cry as Petro struck his back, his belly suddenly slammed into the floor, traction lost, and though he had managed to slow his forward momentum, he now found himself sliding on his belly straight toward the wall.
Thud!
He wasn't sure if he could find his feet this time, not soon enough to avoid leaving himself vulnerable to Petro's next strike. There was no time to untangle himself and take to the relative safety of the air. He had to buy himself some time, to find a moment to catch his breath, to regather his thoughts.
This time the dragon rolled, hoping to catch and pin Petro between himself and the floor.

Petro felt the give of Sheridan's flesh upon collision but the satisfaction did not last when he saw the dragon smack into the wall. The tikbalang cringed, though he hoped the blow he'd delivered earlier had helped slow the dragon's approach. When it became apparent to Tro that Sheridan was now trying to get him into a ground-and-pound position, he kicked off. Managing to avoid the coils and from getting entangled.
"C'mon, Sheridan! Use y'r FEAR on me!" Tro suggested. This was a friendly spar after all and Tro was curious what sort of FEAR his friend had.
