Remarque was still considering being called 'punk' when he experienced the stinging, numbing sensation from the blow. Whatever the bokken had hit, it hurt. The tips of his fingers felt like they'd fallen asleep, and left him with an annoying tingling sensation that he couldn't shake off.

He didn't fall, though his body went rigid and he stood there for a good few seconds before he managed to turn around.

"...Seriously?" he demanded, wondering if he could get close enough to this guy to wrap his still tingling fingers around his neck and choke the life out of him. He craved some sort of retribution--to pay the male back both for letting Lenka get away and for hitting him, though realistically he was just too stunned to react.

His interaction with the Negaverse had been slim, and while Benitoite had left a favorable impression, Remarque wondered how much trouble he'd be in with them if he massacred this moron. He was barely able to refrain himself from lurching at him, and it was mostly the bokken still pointed at him and the remnants of pain still rolling through him that had him still only facing him.

"...I have no problem breaking that little ******** toy of yours and shoving it up your a**," Remarque said icily. "Are you working with her or something? With Lenka? Because, we might have a bigger problem than I thought."

Magnetite watched Remarque's tirade with cold calculation. The girl was gone, this he knew, and even if she hadn't gotten away by now any chance Remarque might have had at catching up to her was now gone. He was definitely sure of that.

Lenka. He rolled the name around in his head. So the senshi were employing little girls. How annoying. Attacking earth was one thing, corrupting its youth was another. That would be a particularly difficult task considering he might have to actually work against his own allies to achieve such a task.

But right now, there was an angry chaos servant in front of him.

"We don't have an issue, not anymore. Who I choose to protect, or why, is none of your concern. Just don't let me catch you threatening any more children, and you'll find your quality of life greatly improved."

He took a step back.

Remarque did not, in fact, care who this Negaverse agent chose to protect or why—as long as it didn’t affect him. In this case, it had affected him, and left him rather perplexed and enraged. The last he’d heard of the Negaverse was that they hated all of those aligned with the White Moon Court—Chibi senshi included.

“We don’t have an issue?” Remarque pressed, hands curling into fists once more. “I’ve still got an issue. You let her get away. Butted into business that wasn’t yours, and let her get away. She started this whole thing! Do you think I go around picking fights with stupid little girls?”

A question he didn’t really want to hear the answer for, he continued, “And you—who the hell are you, just waltzing around attacking people? We’re on the same side, aren’t we? Or are you with the senshi?”

…Or was he just interested in stalking little girls dressed in semi-skimpy clothing and interacting with them when they were at their most vulnerable?

Magnetite sighed. This conversation was going nowhere fast.

"Again, none of your concern. Shouldn't you get back to doing... whatever it is you do?"

He looked the man up and down.

"Finding turquoise dye or something? Just try to leave the kids alone and we won’t have to see too much of each other. Or any of each other. And that should make us both happy, right?"

He didn’t know about this guy but he DID have more to do tonight, and keeping this stupid sailor chibi alive had cost him a little more time than he was interested in giving to this particular confrontation. He had actually been on his way to the liquor store to buy a bottle of jack and seen what was going down, so he changed and intervened. His war movie was still waiting in the dvd player at home and that bottle of jack wasn’t buying itself.

Remarque’s eyes narrowed once more; this hadn’t turned out to be a good evening, he decided, but he wasn’t going to let it end with him being the only one with a bruise. “You hit me,” he said rather pointedly, voice laced with bitterness. “For no ******** reason. I’m not going to roll over and take it like a dog.”

He offered no further warning before he tensed and lurched. Whatever the cost was, he wasn’t going home without reciprocating a hearty dose of pain to the man who he deemed very rightly deserved it. His hand curled into a fist and he darted to the side to try and avoid the bokken still aimed in his direction.

Remarque thrust his fist upwards, aiming with a vengeful precision towards the male’s jawbone. A fist to the face was the quickest way to make a man eat his words, and while on many days Remarque might have chosen to be more loquacious, tonight he had succumbed to the call of a simpler desire—to make the man bleed.

The step Magnetite had taken back gave him a slight moment to think about his options. The man was bobbing, a good move, but he was underestimating Magnetite. He'd have to take a hit if he was going to hit Magnetite.

Magnetite knew he couldn’t block this hit. Limbs had an annoying way of snaking around static defenses like bokkens. He could have probably pulled some force off the hit, but he still would have been hit.

Or he could just swing back. He'd still get hit, but he might be able to end this battle with one strike. He’d done it before.

Magnetite’s target was pretty obvious to him. He wanted a good, downward swing to do enough force, so it would have to be head or shoulders. He didn't want to hit the man on top of his head, which would be painful but not debilitating. There was only one shot from his position that might end this battle just like that.

Collarbone, base of the neck. Magnetite knew the stat, 8 pounds of pressure to snap it. He would have a lot more behind this hit, enough to shatter it he hoped. It would take alot of gumption to keep coming without a collar bone.

However, the strike was slow. Remarque’s fist was connecting with Magnetite’s jaw mere moments before his own shot would have landed , and threw his aim off. The blow instead landed on the meaty part of Remarque’s shoulder, a lot less dangerous, more likely to just cause a little soreness.

Magnetite stumbled back. He could feel the little trickle of blood coming down his lip. He wasn't sure how that had happened, the blow had connected with his jaw and Magnetite had thought hed had his mouth closed. He wiped the blood off with a finger from his left hand, looking down at the red liquid on his fingertip.

"Gutsy" he said, sounding impressed. And he was. To charge someone with a weapon unarmed required some willpower, especially considering how much damage Magnetite could have done with that strike.

"Feel any better?" It sounded half taunting, half... interested? Magnetite was starting to have a little respect for this guy, or at least for his bravery.

Remarque’s hand fell to his side after the blow. Despite the pain radiating from where the bokken had made contact, he was satisfied. Sure, he could have strung him up and had that advantage, but used to working with his fists, it was far more satisfying to exchange blows like that—even if he knew he was going to regret taking that blow in the morning.

He stood up straight and took a single step back, growing more aware of the pain from his shoulder. “…Yeah,” he answered, finally. He felt a lot better after giving the hit; he might not have paid the man back in full now that the Negaverser had two hits against him and he’d only delivered one, but then again—he’d made the man bleed, so that had to count for something.

“Night,” he concluded; he’d had enough of the man for one evening. He’d gotten his blow in, had spilled blood, and certainly wasn’t opposed to the concept of going home and being done with gathering energy for the evening.

Not fool enough to turn his back on the man after the first incident, he took a few steps back, still facing Magnetite. When he had gotten a good few steps away—far enough that Magnetite would have had to step to hit him with the bokken again—he turned on his heel and began to nonchalantly head home. He didn’t see this as fleeing a battle, so he had no need to worry about further damaged pride; tired and still confused over the evening, he was more than ready to go home.

Magnetite watched the man until he was a good distance away before he made his way back the direction he had come. Once he was in the shadows and sure he wasn't being watched, he changed back into his civilian form. His lip was starting to swell, but he resumed his way back toward the liquor store. He'd just put some ice on this lip before he had anything to drink.

His mind wandered back to the little girl he'd let get away. He hoped she'd made it home all right, and hoped more that shed think twice before coming back out here and picking fights. He couldn't bail her out all the time.

And that went for most of them. He knew he'd get in a little trouble for what he did tonight and had no wish to make this a constant thing. Still, he knew that if he saw someone threatening a little girl... He'd cross that bridge when he got to it.

Maybe next time he'd just claim he was 'confiscating' the child. That he had important business with him or her. He could then easily release the kid somewhere else.

That did risk giving people the wrong impression about him.... another bridge to cross when he got to it.
