Cal rocked her head slight with her good eyes blurring almost as much as the other. She could see that Panther was in pain trying to comfort her. She moved herself slowly to lay Panther back in a comfortable position. Instead of him straining himself to hug her, she put her arms around him in an attempt to console him. It may just have been for her. She sobbed into his shoulder with heavy breaths. Her eyes turned red from the tears that soaked into Panther's shoulder.
The greater good? She didn't feel like hearing those empty words. Panther's move to console her fell on deaf ears. Maybe if she had been on the mission she would have understood, but right now all she was concerned about was the loss of a friend.

His words didn't seem to do anything. She was crying too hard but she laid him down again, and that helped with the pain. Maybe she knew Alia, maybe better then he did, and he just broke hard news. But it was hard news he had witnessed.
He wrapped his arms around her as best he could without upsetting his own injuries. The warmth of another human body felt good, even if she was crying. At this point anything was better then bearing the loss alone anymore.

The tears seemed to stream endlessly. They both remained embraced, awkwardly, with the brown eyed girl's hiccups breaking the soft sobbing every so often. She untangled herself from the awkward hug being as careful as she could be. She wiped her red eyes with her sleeves and tilted her head up to Panther. "You need to rest." Her voice came through cracked and coarse. "Try to feel better. I'm not gonna go anywhere."
She rested her chin at the side of his bed. She watched is green eyes until she couldn't stand to hold back her tears anymore. She tilted her head away from him and let her tears fall quietly until she drifted off.
