When their drinks were ready, the vampire set them out on the counter, folded his arms, and smiled. "You two have a nice day." He gave a gentle nod as he spoke and turned around to clean up, only turning his head as he heard the loud clink of a happy tip jar. A wink was offered to the lupine in return.
Riyo's ears folded back and a look of irritation crossed her face when she noticed Mitsu giving the lousy vampire coins, but she said nothing of it, grabbing her drink so she could walk away from the counter. Oh, black coffee. So bitter, and so true to life.
The sad look on her companion's face made the feline realized she'd done a bad thing, though it was surprising. She had never associated Mitsu with sad (besides the fact that she was afraid of cats).
"I'm sorry Mitsu." Riyo immediately followed up the ghoul's words with an apology, her own expression turning sad. "It wasn't fair of me to ask you that question." Because if the shoe was on the other foot, she would feel terrible too. "Lets talk about something else. Whatever you want."

Mitsu lightly shook her head to the feline's apology. "There's no need to apologize." Taking up her tea she cast a small glance to the vampire but only blushed and looked away when he winked at her. That felt awkward for some reason. "It's hard to say what you'll get as an answer, I could have easily said no." Which was true, it was possible that she didn't have haunting dreams or things she tried to forget, but the sad truth of the matter was that she did.
Following behind the feline, Mitsu took a light sip of her tea. It was sweet from the berries and didn't really require sugar of any sort. As far as conversation though Mitsu was at a loss. Usually she just became part of the conversation and didn't have to come up with the topic. Trying to think she sorted through what would be something good to talk about. "Well, we can always get to know each other a little better." Mitsu offered. "I only know a couple of things about you, maybe we can share a few things together? Like....what do you like to do in your free time?"

"Yeah, but I didn't want to make you uncomfortable, and it wasn't a question I would've wanted someone to ask me." Riyo was pretty sure Mitsu was only trying to make her feel better, but she wasn't about to push the subject.
The conversational idea Mitsu offered up seemed a little... Strange to Riyo... But it wasn't like they hadn't been through hell together. Why not throw a dog a bone (lol)?
"I guess that'd be alright." The feline sighed reluctantly, swallowing down another gulp of coffee with only a twitch at it's bitter taste. "With what free time I do have-" The ghoul started into it immediately. "-I usually read a book or play the violin. Sometimes I'll do something with my cats." Like teach them to conga line, though she didn't add that part. "What about you?"
It looked like she didn't plan to stay at the shop, because instead of having a seat at the table, she walked to the door and held it open for her walking buddy.

Mitsu wasn't entirely surprised that they wouldn't be staying in the cafe. Riyo probably wanted to keep moving to stay awake for one and no doubt didn't want to spend more time with the vampire she had already snapped at. He was only being nice but Mitsu was quickly learning you tread lightly when doing so.
"Oh that's right, I remember hearing a violin when I came over one time." Mitsu recalled the tune that had been played her mind fitting the notes together in her head. "You play rather well, you should join the music club!" Though honestly Mitsu hadn't done much with the music club herself. Mainly she played her keyboard within the safety of her room.
Walking out the cafe door, Mitsu waited for Riyo to step up beside her before she continued walking. She did her best to match the feline's strides but her legs weren't nearly as long. "Oh, I play the piano...or keyboard rather." It was similar but hardly the same. Hitting the keys felt different and while the sound was very similar Mitsu could hear the subtle difference. "I like to read too or sometimes I go to the fitness club to exercise." Or train, which was what she had been doing a lot more recently.

"I'll pass." Riyo almost immediately said before lifting the cup to her lips again. "Personally, I play because 1. it gets rid of silence and 2. it takes my mind off things. Doing such in a social area wouldn't serve much of a point for me." Not that she didn't secretly wish for an audience sometimes. Ah well, the cats listened just fine.
Catching up with the lupine, the ghoul was slightly surprised to hear that Mitsu played the piano (... keyboard, whatev). "That's interesting. I hadn't pegged you as a music person." Which was no insult intended to the ghoul. Riyo simply hadn't thought about it before. Eh. She supposed this sharing information s**t wasn't as much of a waste of time as she first thought.
Another surprise, Mitsu was in the fitness club. "Oh, I'm in there too." The feline admitted. "Started not long after arriving here. What made you want to join?"

As Riyo didn't seem to peg her as a music person....Mitsu really couldn't peg Riyo as someone who would want to work out. It seemed like an odd fit but she didn't voice that thought. Instead she ran with the question given her.
"I joined not long after I got here. I thought it would be a way to help me...improve. When I got here I really couldn't do much of anything." Though it was a wonder if that had changed all that much. She still wasn't strong, she still couldn't protect her friends. "What made you join?"

So... Really about the same reason as Riyo. "That's... Actually similar to why I joined." The cat ghoul admitted. "See, I never had much time to exercise or train, nor did I really think about it... But a certain... Encounter-" Oh, no big deal, just her and Shun being trapped in an elevator, trying to escape, and almost getting squished. "-made me realize how bad a shape I was in. So I signed up." Which wasn't really easy on her, considering all the other things she had to do... Especially now.
Looked like Amity was just over the hill. "Hey... Mitsu.." Riyo started reluctantly, looking down at the now half-full cup of coffee. "Are you... Worried?" It took her a moment to clarify what she meant. "About the things you saw on that field trip." It seemed wrong to call it something so innocent-sounding. "About... If they'll happen again.. And if and when we'll see those humans again."

Mitsu couldn't say she was exactly out of shape, she had strength in her legs but that was it really. She hoped training would improve her balance and coordination as well as strengthen other parts of her body. So far it was working for the most part. If only it could help improve her sense of direction because as of current she was a little lost. The lycan had been so focused on her cup of tea she had forgotten to seek out landmarks to watch out for.
Hearing her name though Mitsu looked up toward Riyo before following her gaze out over the hill. It took her a moment to think on the question, her mind going over what had happened during the field trip, what she had learned. She even took a moment to glance around to see if any boogeymen were nearby. This was something they had been warned about, they weren't to speak of it...but still. "I am..."
Mitsu's face had turned strangely serious as she looked at the cat demon before she focused on her cup of tea. "I...really don't think its a matter of 'if'. From what I learned and from what the horsemen said its only a matter of when." It seemed a little ominous, even for Mitsu to say but the fact of the matter was Invictus said they sought out to end them. The hunters had seemed rather determined to do so and she wouldn't be surprised if they tried another attack. "But...I think we can prepare ourselves. I think we can be ready."

Silently, Riyo listened to the usually timid wolf ghoul's words. It was obvious, at least to the cat ghoul, that Mitsu had matured considerably in the time she had known her. Especially her attitude. It made the feline wonder if she had done any maturing herself.
"I certainly hope so with the way things seem to be going." With the school now in the eye of the mainstream, she had to wonder how long this would go on... At the very least, if the teachers couldn't prepare them, maybe the horsemen could.
They had made it to Amityville, and now the dorms were a short distance away. "By the way..." Looking around for anyone of significance, the Riyo seemed satisfied when the two of them were, for the most part, alone. "I wanted to say... Thank you. I don't think... I would've been as okay with everything that happened without all of you there." In other words, she would've probably been in tatters if it hadn't been for her group. Moreover, the fact that she had been so stubborn in the first place... It was just another indication that sometimes, Riyo had no idea what was best for her...

The school was right in front of them but Mitsu wasn't really in a hurry to return. This had been a nice walk, rather quiet and calming. Her attention turning to the feline a smile started to form on her face. "Friends make you stronger. Our group had its bumps and troubles but we were there when it counted."
The fact that Riyo saw them as a sort of strength was rather warming. She had come to school with a completely different outlook that was for sure. It might not have been that she was changing though but finally able to relax and show how she really felt. "I wish I could have been there more for you...for all of you. I will work harder. We all will I'm sure." Hel had taught her the value of improving, though in a very harsh way. Still, it was knowledge earned and Mitsu would be there to fight with and for her friends.

Well, Riyo hadn't meant for the whole thing to be taken down the friendship route, but whatever. No point in correcting Mitsu now...
"You did your best." The ghoul had almost been inclined to add 'when you weren't sucking on Shun's face', but somehow she managed to refrain... Probably because the lupine was one of the few she didn't enjoy upsetting (it really was too easy...). "And yes, I'm sure everyone will work harder." ... Honestly, the feline wasn't sure if she could WORK much harder with all the work she already did.. But she could always put fourth an effort...
As the demon headed towards her respective dorm, she dropped the now empty coffee cup in a trash bin on the way. "I suppose all of us will have to make our 'bests' a little bit better..."

Finishing off her tea Mitsu followed suit and threw her empty cup in the trash can. It seemed they were heading back to the demon dorms already though a curious thought hit her as Riyo mentioned making their bests a little bit better.
"Maybe once everything settles and everyone is rested perhaps we can train together." She wasn't sure about actually sparring, she had yet to try it. Safe to say she was still a little afraid to fight, she had lost her head in the canyon and was afraid to do that again. It was because she was reckless that Shun had been injured.

Riyo looked back towards the ghoul as he mentioned training. hah, what an interesting proposal. She had only trained with Jericho thus far, and he was without a doubt her superior in all things physical. "I think that'd be fine."
Used to be she would scoff and walk away, but little by little, these people that surrounded her managed to crack the little barrier she guarded herself with. There was a nice Riyo in there, and signs of it were peeking out. "Just... Let me sleep first. I'm no good as I am right now." If she ever DID sleep again.

There was a nod as Riyo seemed to accept her proposal to train together. Maybe they could learn something from one another. "Yes, I would definitely say get some rest first. There's no need to push yourself right now."
If only Mitsu knew what others had in store for her. The lycan was so unprepared for it all. "If you continue to have trouble sleeping you should let me know. Maybe we can figure something out that will ease your mind so you can sleep. Maybe music?" Music often helped her after all.

Music? Riyo wasn't sure that music would help, but she gave a short nod nonetheless. "I think..." She started, glancing towards the dorms. "I'm going to talk to Xiu about it. Her name and dreams seem to get mixed together often." She didn't say she would ask the baku for help, but in a subconscious sort of way that's what she planned to do. "Hopefully something will come of that. But before I can, I have to take that blasted exam." They always came at the worst times, didn't they? "Have you had yours yet?"
