"It can kill them if you take too much. We try not to. Well. I try not to, anyway. A lot of random murders and deaths that can't be explained get a little suspicious, and put too many people on edge. if you drain them just enough they'll pass out, and wake up later feeling hung over. They'll come up with their own stories, or you can set some up if you like."

She chuckled.

"I'm a fan of set ups. I like making little stories for them to wake up and ponder. Most of the time, they won't remember the ten or so minutes before their energy being drained, either."

She looked at him, her jovial and playful face getting just a little serious, though not as much so as when she had corrupted him. She pointed a finger at him.

"Whatever you choose to do, you will keep your identity and our mission at your heart. Sharing with civilians or, worse yet, Senshi and their friends will not be tolerated." She seemed edgy about that, but she did not explain further. She smiled at him again, clapping her hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure you'll do fine, of course. I wouldn't have picked you if I thought you were just going to fail on me."

"Right, don’t take too much unless absolutely necessary."

He nodded

"And no sharing. Sharing is bad. That seems simple enough."

He looked down at his plastic katana.

"Do I use this for energy harvesting?"

If so, this was going to be harder then he originally reckoned. Even against an unarmed civilian, he would have a rough time trying to get in on them without taking a fist to the face. Plastic swords aren't the most useful in a fist fight... or any fight.

"How about you find yourself a target, subdue them, and I'll tell you the next step when you're that far? No point knowing how to drain energy if you can't even catch a target, right?"

She grinned at him.

This was going to be fun. She loved having people around her who wanted to please, or who were motivated to learn and get stronger. She had no doubt he would excel in every part of this new job. And the fact that he was closer to her age than most was nice, too.

Just because he was older, though, she wasn't going to go easy on him.

"Hop to: get down there and get us a target to drain. I'll join you when you do it, or if you need help. Use your brain and do what you think is best. I'll be sure to let you know if you make any mistakes." She gave him an innocent, even sweet smile, but she meant it.

Magnetite chuckled. Mistakes. Sure.

"Let’s see... subtle would be better I suppose. Let’s try this."

He hopped onto the fire escape, taking it down to the bottom floor. He hopped off the escape onto a dumpster, and jumped from the dumpster to the ground.

"Can’t earn teleportation soon enough."

He shook his head. He made his way over next to the dumpster and over ended it with his toe. He sifted through the garbage that came out of it, pulling out a broken broom handle.

"This will do nicely."

He pulled a blue tarp out of the top of the dumpster and placed it on the ground, placing it over the broom handle and fashioning it into a sort of mound of air.

"Stand back and watch the magic happen."

He took a quick lay out of his surroundings, the area he’d set his trap was shadowed and couldn’t be seen from the street. He made his way to the street and waived down a woman walking by.

"Ma'am! Ma'am! Please! I need your help! It’s my cat, she was playing around in the garbage back here and a rat attacked her. She’s hurt and I need help carrying her to the car so I can rush her to the vet."

The woman eyed him, not fully buying his story. His outfit clearly didn’t help him seem inconspicuous.

"Your cat? What is she doing out here?"

Magnetite pointed to a nearby apartment building.

"She got out my window. Please, she’s really hurt."

The woman didn’t look quite convinced but nodded. Magnetite led her down to where the tarp had been placed.

"She’s right under this tarp-"

As he said it, he pulled the broom handle out from under the tarp and baseball swung it right into her face. She dropped to the ground.

"Like shooting fish in a barrel."

He chuckled. She started to roll over onto her hands and knees, Magnetite frowned.

"Oh no you don't."

He snarled, bringing the handle down in a two handed strike across her back, then turning her over and hitting her in the head again. She stopped resisting, passed out.

"Much better. Must be something wrong with this stick."

He tossed the broom handle aside.

"That shouldn't have taken two hits."

Painite watched as her new Lieutenant set about getting his first target. She smiled at his eagerness, and approved immediately of his use of what he had available around him and his decision to make a physical trap. These were all things she was very much a fan of.

The acting part was always harder, but it didn't matter if a target fully believed them or not, so long as they gave in to their curiosity and followed anyway. She watched the woman, sizing her up. It didn't look like the civilian was particularly keen, and when Painite saw her nod she almost laughed.

Typical. People were idiots, she found, and that worked well for the negaverse.

When he hit her with the broom she winced. Ouch. Not the most subtle thing she had ever seen in her life, and his repeated attacks made her shake her head. She appeared in the alley in short order, reaching out and catching the stick.

"That shouldn't have taken any hits. What if someone saw your shadow, swinging a weapon around like that? And did you fail to see that was a girl? How rude! Not a gentleman, then," she grinned at him, tapping the broom against her shoulder. "Why did you use this and not your weapon? Alright, that was fine for not knowing better. Here." She took his hand and pulled him down with her, kneeling by the unconscious woman. She put his hand on the woman's arm.

"It doesn't matter where you touch them. You just have to be connected to them with a touch. Now focus on the energy you'll be able to feel in her, and see if you can draw it out with you will. You want to gather it into your palm, and the more you take the easier it gets. When you stop feeling it pulling back against you, take it as your cue to stop. She'll have nothing more to spare at that point. Draining energy will tire someone out, and make them far more manageable than having to smash them in the face."

She grinned.

"I mean, unless you really like doing that. That's up to you."

Magnetite touched the woman’s arm and felt the energy flowing into his hand. If he'd known he only had to touch the woman he wouldn’t have 'subdued' her at all. Not that it bothered him too much to do it.

He pulled his hand away when he felt the energy stop pulling back against him.

"I don't mind doing that, but I can see how it would be hard to be subtle with such a tactic."

He looked at the broom handle she was tapping him with.

"Would that attack have been nearly as effective with my plastic katana? At best I would have scratched her face. Not really a tactic for subduing anyone. Not that it seems to matter much, if I could have just touched her in the first place."

He looked down at his palm.

"Now what do I do with it?"

"Give it to me," she said, holding out her hand. "And I will deliver it for you. When you're a Captain, you can do this for your own team members, and for yourself. All lessons we'll get to in time. Don't want to overwhelm you on your first night out."

She grinned at him, nodding her head.

"So, we've learned a couple things here. You're a natural at taking energy, which is very good. You have a keen mind for planning things out, which I am very much a fan of. But you don't yet have any faith in your weapon. So, next time, we're going to do some battle training."

Very briefly, she explained to him about their negaspace, mentioning the Rift in passing, and explaining how weapons can be banished and summoned at will from their individual space pockets. She segued into their communication crystals, holding hers up. They all had one, and they could 'call' each other if they were both powered up.

"Whenever you power up, give me a call and I will come to you. But we'll meet tomorrow night, by the community theatre down town, around midnight. Is that okay for you?"

Not that she was really asking his permission. They had training to do, after all. But she already liked him, and she had the idea that he would not be satisfied with the limitations of a lieutenant for very long. Ambition would get him far, but it was her job to make sure he had the skills to back it up.

And she would certainly not fail in her job.

While she spoke, Magnetite experimented with banishing and retrieving his weapon while she spoke. He'd never been one to frequent community theatres, but he knew where it was at least.

"Its perfectly fine, I'll be there. Now about being captain, you mentioned something to the effect that promotion would eventually become possible. How long does it take an AVERAGE agent to achieve said promotion?"

Magnetite said average with the knowledge that whatever figure she gave him would be at the long end of what he actually wound up taking.

"Average? I don't think you're average. I'll give you a month to prove yourself to me. Within that time, I want you to fulfill your energy draining quotas, and fight effectively against our enemies of the White Moon."

Order, as they called themselves, while the Negaverse were Chaos. She felt that was a little pretentious. Call her a bad guy and have done with it: she'd rather play up to that title and get her job done, knowing she was no such thing, then beat around the bush.

She grinned at him, knowing that a month would be a very tight squeeze for him to do as much as she expected of him. But it was more to get him fueled, for him to expect more of himself. Drive, ambition, dedication. These were the qualities she looked for in her Lieutenants, and she would not be let down.

"If you're really good, you'll bring me a starseed. But that's another lesson. Not too much on your first day out, now, or you'll take over the whole Negaverse tomorrow." She laughed lightly.

Magnetite nodded, also smiling. He liked this General, he was pretty sure he could get along with this woman. Especially if she kept complimenting him like this, he preferred leaders who could acknowledge his abilities.

"Be careful, I might just do that anyway."

He chuckled.

"But I will meet you tomarrow night, midnight at the community theatre. I'll come and bring some energy with me. This time I'll skip the brutal beating for a more subtle approach."

He practiced summoning and dismissing his plastic sword again. He could not wait for this weapon to upgrade into something useful. He was a swordfighter, and a plastic sword simply wouldn’t do for him.

Painite nodded her head and smiled, agreeing to their meeting and glad he had taken mental notes on his orders. She would step things up with him the next time they met, and see what more he could do.

For now, it was late, and she was tired from corrupting him.

"Alright, you can power down with just a thought. Always make sure to check for any auras, and use your eyes for any civilians that might be hanging around. Cameras. Things like that. Before you power down, anyway." She waved her hand, stifling a yawn.

"I need to get some sleep, or I'll be a wreck tomorrow."

She gave him a pretty smile, then patted him on the arm before she made to saunter off. She teleported a moment later, just so he could get a look at her walking away before she vanished. She was all about the show.

Magnetite smiled, watching her go. He looked around keeping an eye out for civilians and all that jazz. There were too many people around though, so he used the fire escape to get back to the roof.

He really couldn't wait to be able to teleport like that, this walking up and down buildings seemed tiresome.

Once he was sure he was out of sight of ANY prying eyes or electronic recording devices, he focused on powering down, and turned back into Garethon. From there, he walked back to his desk to get his things.

"And so it begins."

He smiled.
