Arianna Scarlett Cross
“Ahhh I wonder if I can grab a bite to eat on the way back to the station…It is times like this that I miss my parents’ home cooking…Oh well, always make do with what you have got. That’s what mom always sa----“ It was in that moment that Arianna was rudely pulled away from her train of thought by the screeching of wheels as someone slammed down on the brakes. It was only when Arianna looked up that she noticed the danger she had no doubt been in beforehand. Her jaw dropped as she watched a car skid onto the pavement, crash into a parked car, and flip over smashing into a side of a building. “Holy----“ Running a bit closer Arianna was almost certain that whoever was in the totalled car would have be hella lucky to survive this kind of crash. If Arianna’s jaw were to hang any more it would have fallen off. Lo behold the shock amazement on her face when a foot kicked through the window. “A survivor? Well…I suppose it is not completely unheard of..” Not wasting any time Arianna broke out into a brisk jog to close the distance between herself and the possible injured driver.
“You! Yes you! What the hell happened?!” Temporarily Arianna lost her usually fully intact composure as she neared the driver. “Do you have any ideas how many laws you have just broken?! Let’s start with speeding” The fresh dose of adrenaline was dizzying and it took Arianna a moment to gather herself together “You…you could have killed someone! You could have killed me! What the hell was so important that you had to risk your life and the lives of those around you?!” She finally paused to catch her breath and took the moment to take in the severity of the situation. The car could be fixed; she could tell that it was not a complete write off as she had thought so earlier. Looking towards the man her eyes widened slightly. “A cyborg….” She muttered but was quick to cover up her words with a new set “You are bleeding. Sit down and wait for an ambulance. I will have one sent over as soon as I have contacted the police station…Ah geez…on the day I am assigned desk duty I have to deal with a reckless driver….Chief is going to have a field day when I tell her I was unable to attend the others at the sight of that downtown explosion…”
Arianna pulled out a notebook and stared at the cyborg with a business like gaze “You name, address, age, and contact number. I will also request the number of someone we can ring to inform them of your predicament. Unfortunately after you have had some treatment for your injury we may request that you come to the station for some Q&A…By the books you know that sort of thing. Of course things will be explained as they progress. Just tell us the truth and we will see to it that things are sorted out fairly.” As she finished speaking Arianna reached for her radio and spoke into it “Arianna Scarlett Rose here requesting assistance….5th Ave…the back alley behind the Global Enterprise Centre for Science…Over…” It would only be a matter of seconds before she received an answer….

The restaurant was fairly slow today, people seemed to be busy with other things to stop and eat, however this only made it easier for Remy and Lisa to order. Remy sighed as he looked over the menu, he and Lisa always ordered the same meal, but they liked to look the menu over anyway. The waiter soon came over and took their order before rushing off to deliver the orders. After a few moments Lisa reached into her bag and pulled out her Iphone. "Hey Remy, did you see the resent newsflash?" she asked as she showed him the article on his phone. Apparently someone had blown up some building, the details weren't public yet, but he was sure they would be soon. "Should I be worried?" He asked in a bored tone. She glared at him for a moment "This is serious! What about the people who died? Someone has to catch who did this" She said. Remy rolled his eyes "Lisa, I'm sure the police can handle this" He said. She let out an angry sigh "I suppose your right, but...I don't know I wish we could help" She said. Remy shook his head "Well we can't...and besides we have a quiz tomorrow we should probably be prepared for it" he said trying to get her off the subject of trouble and onto one of classes. He didn't like talking about issues like this with her, she often got super into them and he'd rather just avoid it...it wasn't his problem right?

As Nora spoke, Ingrid was thinking of several other things at the moment. When she mentioned partnership, Ingrid wanted to shake her like an unwanted child. A partnership would mean have to show power and make joint decisions. When Ingrid did business it was always a certain way she did things...still a meeting wouldn't hurt, besides she'd like to associate a face with a name. "Why yes Nora, that would be a great idea" she told her. "Please get ahold of him for me and when you do, send him upstairs to my office. I have some things I need to look over" with that being said, Ingrid began to leave the way she had came in. Appearing in her office she took out what seemed to be a blank piece of paper, the kind a map would be written on.
Closing her eyes and extending her hands they began to glow a violet like color as a pentagram was formed on the page. Muttering a few words under her breathe, a green glowing dot was seen. It was that of Remy, a patient she had seen and took interest in. A young mutant himself, she could relate to what he was going through. She had casted a dual spell. A tracking spell, and a protection spell. Until she caught up with him and could speak with him. She knew there was power in numbers and hoped for her sake she could recruit him.

Barrett raised his eyebrows as the redhead came over and started shouting at him about what had happened. He sighed and chuckled to himself, replying to all her shouting and inquiries in a calm tone, "I'm afraid that's not possible, as I am in a hurry. I have no time for questions, or being brought to the station." Barrett stood up straight and hefted the briefcase over his shoulder. Sighing, he walked right past the woman and headed down the street, mumbling to himself, "If I had known she was a cop I would have just let the car hit her jeez... Such a hassle..." Barrett walked down the sidewalk a way and stopped in front of a building with a fire escape on the side. He cracked his neck and jumped up to the fire escape, pulling himself up and over the metal railing with one hand and heading up as fast as he could. His sensors had been damaged in the crash, and he would need a vantage point to recalibrate them, he just hoped the building was tall enough. He activated his communicator and spoke to Nora through the computer speakers, "Ran into a little problem, managed to... uh... kinda crash the car. I'm heading back as fast as I can, gonna see if I can't find alternate transport." Barrett quickly cut off the communicator before Nora started screaming at him; it was her car he had crashed, and she'd need to do some quick work in order to make sure they didn't trace the plates back to her. Barrett knew he'd get an earful once he got back, but he hoped that bringing the package back in one piece would make up for crashing the car.
=====
Nora raised an eyebrow as Ingrid started to leave, saying, "What am I your secretary now?" Nora sighed as the witch disappeared and was about to go back to tinkering on something when Exadi picked up Barrett's communication. As he spoke she remained silent but as soon as he finished she started yelling, "You did WHAT!? You CRASHED my CAR!? Goddammit Barrett I swear to God I will take you apart bolt by ******** bolt until all that's left is your fleshy bits!" Nora would have continued screaming had Exadi not told her that Barrett disconnected the transmission. Needless to say, Nora was fuming, she really wanted to shoot something at the moment. She sighed to try and calm herself down, grumbling to herself she managed to keep herself from throwing a wrench through the computer screen. She figured she should contact the man Ingrid spoke of; even though she wasn't about to tell him to go up to her office. Ingrid was just a little too arrogant at times, Nora doubted the guy would even humor her if that was her request. She sighed again and started working; phone calls and the like weren't the quickest way to get to someone. Most times the people wouldn't return your call, or they'd ask you to set up an appointment. Nora knew a quicker way. She tracked the man down through the internet, working through proxies and all sorts of different hacking methods. When she finally got his location she finagled her way into his secure network, and right into his computer, which was open on his desk. She turned on her camera so she could essentially video chat with him.
Mattias's laptop screen would go blank for a moment before a direct camera feed of Nora would show up. After a moment of adjusting the camera, and working her way into his computer's systems, she said, "Hello? Is this thing working? Says it is... well I guess it is then. Mattias Kaysen? Is that you standing there? Gah the picture quality on your webcam is horrid. Well if that is you, then I suppose I'd better get to the point." Nora spun around in her chair and smiled lightly, fixing her hair in front of her face again and continuing, "I'm contacting you on behalf of Ingrid Alabri. Your competitor in the bid for owning most of the city. We propose a partnership, or at least cooperation between the two of you. I won't insult your intelligence, I can tell you're a smart man, and I understand that there's a bit of hostility between the two of you. Simply put, if you two worked together, you could effectively own the city as one, and who knows how far that control could spread. All I'm asking is for a meeting, nothing has to be agreed upon. What do you say?" Nora smiled friendlily at the serious faced man in front of the computer screen. Despite Ingrid telling her to try and order the man around, she felt it would be better to ask instead; it was also her way of getting back at Ingrid for treating her like a secretary, and passively insulting her intelligence by offering to just "conjure" a power source for her inventions.

Arianna Scarlett Cross
Well to say Arianna was shocked when the man she was speaking to simple dismissed her questions and walked away would be an understatement. For quite possibly the 5th time that day Arianna’s aching jaw went slack. “Eh…..?” She blinked a few times and gathered her thoughts together before spinning around in time to see the cyborg disappear “Now wait just a goddamn minute!!” Her policewoman instincts kicked in and this allowed Arianna to give chase. “Damn b*****d! Who the hell does he think he is!? Sure we all have things that we must attend! I would like to attend my breakfast but now I can’t!” Arianna was as nice as pie when treated in the correct way…but treat her the way that the Cyborg just did…well, she will be sure to makes sure you know that you have done wrong.
The red haired woman made it in time to see her target climbing up some fire escape stairs. It was apparent from his choice of speed at which he took the steps that he was in a hurry. “In a hurry for what?! To take in the damn scenery?!” Arianna clenched her teeth together and made to follow. She was in top form and extremely athletic so climbing over a metal railing was not a problem. In next to no time she was on the roof and standing behind the car crashing man as he seemed to finish speaking with someone“Hey you! I advise you not to run away from a police officer when they are trying to question you? It leads them to believe that you may have something to hide.” Her favourite gun was at hand should she need it…and for some reason she was beginning to think that that may be the case. Her hazel eyes narrowed a small amount as she took a step closer towards the Cyborg. “Now…I ask that you cooperate with me here and answer the questions that I ask..” Taking a step closer towards the injured man, Arianna smiled kindly “Now…if you will be so kind as to stay still…I would be highly grateful…”

Vincent stared at the TV again, his attention racked on the small stream of events that lined the bottom of the screen, a fw caught his eye but the one in particular was a fire, why it caught his attention he didn't really know. He bit down on a piece of the meat, it was tender, and delicious they didn't spare expenses when it came to their food it seemed. As he looked down his phone began to vibrate, reaching for it he saw that it was just a reminder. Touching the screen lightly he picked up his tray and began to leave he had to pick up a package as apart of a contract he started the other day. He placed his tray on a conveyer belt like device which carried it beyond a wall to be cleaned. He turned around, looking at his phone for a few more moments before he put it away. Looking up he saw a somewhat familiar face, Moa, it was hard to make friends in this sort of place, they were all co-workers sure but building a friendship was tough when everyone was so divided by their work. As he walked over he smiled and said. "Hey, haven't seen you areound the complex much, busy with work?" He asked as he folded his arms across his chest. He looked down at her cup of coffee, Vincent considered coffee the single best invention ever created. it sure had saved him his job more than just a few times. He lowered his hands, resting his wrist gently on the handle of his gun, this wasn't his way of being intimidating, or showing off his gun he had beentrained to stand like this so if someone ever tried to take his gun while he walked he would instantly be able to stop them.

While Moa was taking her time drinking her coffee she took her time looking at the window for a few seconds before turning back to lift up the cup to her lips, but before she could she noticed Vincent coming over giving a friendly greetings. "You can say that." as Moa removed the cup from her lips she placed it down gently to the flat surface of the table and gently overlapped her right leg over her left and sat their comfortably. Watching Vincent standing their she could see that he was placing his hand over his gun, and slowly showed no threat, seeing that her blade was placed on the right side of her in cloth wrapped in leathered thread. "Going somewhere? You seemed to be in a rush." as she showed a bit of interest.

The sounds of stone bursting a sound dreamt slowly makes it's mark as it punches the stones into dust. Another to his left Mani uses the Mass of Dark energy and solidifies it while charging towards the walls, making huge dents in the edges. "Not enough." as Mani punched the wall with a full blow. "I must get stronger, harder and faster. I can't let myself get any weaker." as Mani drove his fist through he began to pull it out as he dismay the dark form that he became and began to breathe while starting to feel the side effects as he felt to the flat pavement and was showing dark and white mist coming out of his body. The pain of the memory brought him back onto his knees as he struggled to stand. "Another year taken away from me.. how many more will I shed." as Mani sighed while falling on his back he looked up.

Despite Ingrid telling her to try and order the man around, she felt it would be better to ask instead; it was also her way of getting back at Ingrid for treating her like a secretary, and passively insulting her intelligence by offering to just "conjure" a power source for her inventions. Mattias had been seated at his desk with the back of the chair turned towards his computer. He hadn't exactly been that close to the screen either, so that was why Nora found that the picture was awful. It was weird that she would say that it was horrible because the picture from his webcam was one of the best on the market. Mattias stopped what he was doing and spun the chair around to face the computer and moved closer to it. His eyes narrowed when he heard the woman's voice over his speakers. He could see Nora, but her picture was a little bit fuzzy.
"Who are you to hack into my systems? It is very much against the law to do so. You are treading a very thin and volatile line, Miss. And it is your webcam that is below par." Mattias knew that there were people who quite possibly had that right level of intelligence to even try to hack into his personal system. But he tried to act surprised and irritated just for effect. "I suggest you make your point quickly, as I am extremely busy. Also, I would like to know the name of the person to whom I am speaking." It was rather irritating that someone was interrupting him in his work.
On the other hand, Mattias had actually expected Ingrid Alabri to contact him soon. He had found that his plans might require some assistance, and Ingrid was one of the people on that list. All he had to do, was make her and this person believe that the partnership was their idea, which they already seemed to think. Unlike most of the living population, Mattias had notice Ingrid's lack of aging. He had long since figured out that she might be a mutant. Indeed, he would have to get rid of her somewhere down the line if he wanted to reach his goal. For once, Ms. Alabri had come up with something that could prove useful to him. "Ingrid Alabri, you say? A partnership? What an interesting idea..." Mattias paused for a few moments as if to show that he was in thought and considering what this strange girl was asking, before continuing in his curt speaking fashion.
"While I do know much of Ms. Alabri, why should I trust the word of a computer hacker? That also begs the question of why she isn't making this call herself. Also, Ms. Alabri tends to think a lot of herself. She most likely wants me to go to her for this meeting, instead of the other way around, does she not?" Mattias didn't give the hacker the opportunity to reply though.
"I will consider the offer of a partnership. Tell Ms. Alabri to give me a call on an actual telephone herself instead of sending a cowardly woman who chooses to hack into private computer systems. In fact, why don't you tell her that when she sends someone like a hacker to do her work for her, it makes her look bad." He answered curtly and in a hurried business-like manner. He was actually telling the truth when he said he was very busy.
With that, Mattias shut down his computer and unplugged it. It would have to be destroyed so the hacker would not be able to get back into it. That meant getting a new computer for himself, which wouldn't be a problem. As for their wireless security.... that was an entirely different matter. It would have to be reset with firewalls, easter eggs with viruses, fake doors, holes, loops and other things to keep people like that facially deformed woman out of his private system.

Nora kept a straight face while speaking to Mattias, despite his various insults and other veiled insinuations. When the call ended Nora sat in silence for a moment before saying "Exadi, get me my costume, I'm going to kill this guy." Nora was so angry she couldn't even express it, it was like a nirvana state of anger; so furious you wind up being perfectly calm. Exadi, however, advised against her going to kill Mattias, "I doubt this will solve anything other than ruin your chances at making a deal with the man. He seemed to think you cowardly for using the fastest means of contacting him directly. You could show him that this is untrue when the meeting happens." Nora sighed and hit her fist against the arm of her chair, denting the metal slightly and saying, "You're right... I hate that you're always right. Why did I have to create you by scanning my brain? Oh well, I still love ya Exadi. Did you get into contact with Rissa?" Exadi explained that she couldn't get into contact with Rissa, other than her answering machine at home and her voice mail on her cell phone, and she wasn't at the station currently. Nora sighed and replied, "Alright, I'll call her after I call Ingrid to tell her that that man said okay." Nora took out her phone and called Ingrid's office, when she picked up Nora said with a tone that meant she wasn't exactly happy, "Mattias agreed to a meeting, so long as you call him yourself, quote unquote, 'on an actual telephone.' p***k had the nerve to call me cowardly for hacking through his shitty firewall and security to speak to him. It takes some huevos of steel to call me cowardly." Nora hung up the call muttering to herself. After trying to calm herself down, Nora called Rissa's cellphone, waiting for her to pick up, muttering, "Come on Rissa, pick up..."

Barrett laughed as the cop had followed him up the fire escape and onto the building. "Persistent aren't you? Well, not to put too fine a point on things, I need to deliver this case..." Barrett lifted the case up for a moment to show the cop, "...To my boss. And she needs this ASAP. So I'd appreciate it if you'd let me get going." Barrett smiled and turned around to face the redhead. "Look, no offense, I'm sure you're just doing your job, but I really don't have time to deal with the police. And besides, I don't think a cyborg like myself can really afford to be seen in the public eye very much. So yeah. See ya." Barrett stepped backwards off the building, falling down to the ground and landing on his feet. He quickly ran in the direction of his destination; having calibrated his sensors, he could see the map of the city and his position, as well as his destination. He was a ways off, so he'd just have to sprint the whole way, luckily his lungs were robotic and he could pretty much sprint forever.

A petite and young looking woman sat on the middle of the roof of a building in Steel Port. Oh Rayne, you have to do better she thought to herself. Opening her eyes she peered across the city, as she made her way to the ledge of the building. Rayne wasn't exactly normal, she had special abilities. Her eyes dilated as she activated her enhanced vision, the sounds in her ears were amplified as she listened to the city speak. She soon jumped off the ledge as she began to free fall.
Her eyes opened revealing two crimson orbs. As she approached the ground she flipped forwards as she landed gracefully on her feet. She needed coffee to process the events of the day. She hadn't spoken to her comrades either, she tended to be a loaner for the most part. Walking inside the coffee shop she ordered a caramel latte, payed for it and was soon sitting in a comfortable chair.
Pulling out an iPad she was reading up on some of the worldly news and not just the news that occurred in this city. Turning up the music on her ipad she continued to read, at least until she was called in to work.

The two college students eventually got their food and looked around, the place had seemingly emptied out even further if that was even possible. "I guess everyone is just busy today" Remy said deciding to change the subject. Lisa glared at him for a moment but shook her head "Yeah...I guess" She said before beginning to eat. While looking around Remy inadvertently made eye contact with Rayne getting an odd feeling before looking away. It was then that a customer was walking by and stumbled. "Watch it" Lisa said as she sprung from her seat. Remy's eyes widened slightly and he made a few hand motions and whispered a few words and his eyes as well as the falling girls feet glowed as he casted a spell to make her catch herself and he managed to enchant himself to catch what she was holding. He sighed as he managed to catch everything and then looked at her "You should be more careful, you could've hurt yourself" he said handing her the stuff. Lisa smiled "Wow you always seem to be lucky like that" She said before they sat down and began eating.

Ingrid was silent as she listened to Nora. She sat at her desk before she decided to dial. Picking up her phone she began to dial Mattias as she awaited an answer on the phone. "Hello, I here that you wanted to speak to me personally over the phone. Well...here I am, we can speak. Let's get straight to the business because I'm sure it wasn't my voice or appearance that you appreciate, it's the money and vice versa" she said bluntly and awaiting a response from the young man.
Rayne continued to drink and read not paying any mind to the outside world. Looking up though she noticed something. Increasing her hearing she listened to what Remy had muttered as she squinted her eyes. He was a mutant. And her job...was to catch them and stop them, however she had more tact than that. She continued the rest of her drink and proceeded to the counter paying for another one and giving back her empty mug. Seeing the two college students she smiled. "Wow she's right you are pretty lucky. I'm sorry my name is Rayne...I saw the girl trip" she said laughing a little. "Do you mind if I take a seat with ya'll, I'm here a lone and it would be nice to mingle with other people other than the people through skype" she chuckled.

"Mister Kaysen? There is a call for you. Ms Ingrid Alabri...?" Came a voice over the intercom on his telephone. Mattias stopped what he had been doing to press the microphone button on his telephone and replied to the butler on the other end. "Transfer it to my line. I've been expecting a call from her." With that, Mattias released his hold on the microphone button as the call was transferred to his phone in his spacious and rather luxurious office, where he was now. Mattias pressed the button to activate the speaker phone.
"Hello to you too, Ms Alabri." Mattias stated simply, ignoring Ingrid's impatient tone. "What? No pleasantries?" he said her casually. "Sorry to say, but you are definitely not my type." 'Nor the right age probably...' he added to himself mentally. Mattias planned to take his time with this discussion as he wanted to know exactly what Ingrid wanted from him, so that he could get what he wanted from her end of the deal. "Alright then. Business it is. A little bird told me that you wanted to discuss a partnership with my company..." Mattias started off slowly.
He paused briefly as he remembered the female hacker with the burn scarred face. "By the way, I didn't know you employed a computer hacker as your secretary. I'll have to remember that and report it to the proper authorities." He commented casually once again, to take a stab at Ingrid's ego, as he was sure that the hacker had told her about the fact that having a hacker call him in place of herself made her look bad. Mattias leaned back in his high-backed leather chair. He didn't know if this tactic would work, but it was worth a shot.
