It worked.

Lesath let out a shrill scream and swung her hand forward, smacking Remarque as hard as she could across the face, just trying to get whatever it was away from her.

After a moment passed, she trembled and shook her head. “******** jerk! That…scared me. What did you…ugh!” Her other hand reached up, rubbing at her ear, trying to get rid of the annoying tingle and slight ringing that was still present.

Not cool. Not cool at all.

Though, now that her heart was returning to a normal rhythm…she kind of had to admit—at least to herself…that it was a pretty funny prank. She should have been expecting him to at least do something stupid.

The sharp smack across his face had been more surprising than it was painful, though it was worth every little wave of pain to have gotten Lesath to scream like that.

Even as Remarque raised his hand to rub at his sore cheek, he was laughing at her. Quite pleasantly laughing at her, in fact, with absolutely no remorse for his actions. “What, were you afraid it was some evil mummy coming to steal your soul, Boobs? It’s a museum, the worst thing in here are some dust bunnies and maybe a few rats, if you look hard enough.”

His tone was playful; he was still laughing to himself about her scream. “I didn’t realize you were so on edge. It’s not that scary in here. What, do you need me to hold your hand so you’re not jumping out of your skin like that again?” Albeit obviously teasing her, there was at least a slight bit of sincerity in his voice.

The dark mirror senshi pursed her lips for a moment, glad that it was dark for she knew her face must be as red as the lipstick she loved to wear. How dare he just laugh…though…

She gave a little chuckle of her own now then shook her head. “Not my soul, Puppet boy. I thought it was some creeper museum guard blinded by my overly large tits and wanting to cop a feel. I just wanted to be verbal and let you know I was on the verge of being molested, of course.”

Lesath laughed, then reached down, taking his hand. “But, Sure. You can hold my hand. I wouldn’t mind in the slightest. You can puppet any creepers to death. My hero.”

This was nice. It was easy.

He was so attractive. But...that's what made it even easier.

“You don’t really think I’d let some creeper museum guard just up and molest you, hmm? Besides, if we ran into any, I’m sure you’d be clever enough to drain him dry. As long as I’m here, I’ve got your back.”

Again, there was that tone—that tone, that almost made it sound like he cared enough about her to want to be there when he needed her. In the darkness, it was only slightly difficult to locate the girl’s hand; he slipped his hand into hers and promptly started to tug her along. “Anyway, the exhibit is hardly Egyptian. It’s Macedonian. Though, Alexander the Great had his fun in Egypt, so who knows what’s there? We can check out the mummies if you really want, but they’re nothing new.”

Which was more than he could say about his actions; since he’d started pulling her down the hallway into a better lit area, he’d nonchalantly begun to stroke the back of Raven’s hand with his thumb as he kept her hand nestled in his own.

Her heart had begun to pound once again, thumping hard against her chest. Well…she wasn’t sure what Macedonian was…she’d have to go look it up when she got home…if being in a stupid stuffy old museum got her this close to Remarque—to Jett, then she would have to remember to come here with him more often…much more often.

“Nah. If you say the mummies are boring, then I trust you. You’re the museum guy. The Tour guide. You lead the way in here. I’ll follow.”
She’d follow him anywhere, most likely. At least for now…he had her full and complete attention.

“I’d like to go to Egypt some day, I think. I really want to see the pyramids up close. Well, up closer than you can on TV and such.”
PostPosted: Fri Nov 18, 2011 1:04 am

“Yeah? Italy or France or Europe I could see you wanting to go to, but Egypt?” he mused, seeming thoughtful. He’d have thought the dry air and temperature would have scared the girl off—with the damage that would do to her skin and hair?

”Almost makes it sound like you’re interested in some sort of adventure. I never really pegged you for the type,” he confessed, once again with absolutely no remorse. “I figured you were just like any of the other girls on the cheerleading squad.”

Given that Raven was in the Dark Mirror Court, he’d already learned that there was something special about her. “Does that make you more than just a pretty face, or are you just saying what you think I’d like to hear?” he asked, casting her a sidelong glance.

As they walked past another mirror, the moonlight lit up his face; he was looking at her, wearing another characteristic smirk. He was still stroking the back of Lesath’s hand, though the strokes were growing weaker, as if he were weaning himself away from the action once he’d realized he was doing it.

“Hey. I’m more than just a pretty face, Remarque, I can assure you that much. Yes, I would like to go to Egypt someday. Not that I wouldn’t want to go to Europe…It would be kind of fun to visit the United Kingdom at least once. Russia too. I would adore going to Russia someday. I want to see the architecture.”

Huh. That made her sound somewhat intelligent. Cool. She always did like the way the roofs were shaped in that one city. They looked like ice cream cones or something like that.

“If you could go anywhere…where would you go?” She gave a little smile back at him, then began gently stroking the back of his hand with her thumb, not wanting him to stop his actions. She liked the closeness that the two were getting, and not just the physical closeness. It seemed almost like Jett was finally opening up to her…treating her like she was something other than that one girl from high school.

Remarque, quite honestly, was not one for physical contact. He wasn’t shy or uncomfortable, just wasn’t very driven by the little things like hand-holding or cuddling. He had allowed it in this instance with the excuse of pulling Lesath along so she didn’t get lost, though once she was brushing her thumb over his hand, he realized what he’d been doing.

Lesath had smooth skin, something his subconscious had been admiring. His mind drifted to that moreso than her question, so it took a few seconds longer than he’d anticipated to answer. “If I could go anywhere? I don’t know.”

Which was a lie; he had a list of places he’d rather live, but the truth of the matter was that he wasn’t going anywhere for a long time. He had obligations to fulfill, particularly in regards to his mother. She’d never leave the house he’d live in for all of his life, and he wasn’t going to walk out and leave her on her own. Him being gone for six weeks when he was in the Surrounding had struck a cord in his mother; she was clinger and more overprotective—something he’d been unable to chastise her about.

He was an adult, though had loved his mother dearly; he’d have been fine out on his own, but when moving out had been an option, he’d promptly disregarded it in favor of staying to keep his mother company and take care of her. It would have been an awkward answer to say, ‘I guess I could handle going anywhere as long as my mother’s there,’ so he took a few seconds to say, “I’m torn. I’d like to visit big cities, where things are always happening, but I’d take a trip just about anywhere, probably. One day I’ll get out of this town. Make it as some big fancy businessmen, and I’ll have everything I ever wanted and more, but,” he shrugged. “…No rush. Things just started getting interesting around here, anyway.”

He didn’t have to gesture to his outfit to assume Lesath understood what he was getting at. Even if she missed his transition of topic, he made it clear what he was speaking of when he asked, “How are you adjusting? Any senshi or knights giving you a hard time out there, or are you doing all right?”

She did have to agree with him. Things had just started to get interesting…and to be honest, she enjoyed that fact. Interesting meant that perhaps it would be quite some time before life returned to its normal mundane and boring pattern.

“You’re right, Remarque. Things have really gotten interesting, and I honestly love it when things are interesting. Senshi or Knights? No, I haven’t run into any yet. I’m hoping to keep it that way, to be honest. I wouldn’t want to break a nail or anything.”

She was joking, of course. She wouldn’t mind a good fight one of these days, in fact, she sort of welcomed one. One with that stupid knight from the surrounding would be nice. That b***h that had come around after Mary had died…she would pay. Lesath would make sure of that.

Sure, grudges weren’t the best things to keep, but she kept them, and kept them well.

“What about you? Any bothersome brats impeding you on your travels?”

PostPosted: Fri Nov 18, 2011 7:23 pm

A wan, slightly annoyed smile twitched onto Remarque’s face. “I wouldn’t say they were impeding me so much as just annoying me. No one very impressive or worth mentioning. Some watermelon chibi, but she was easy enough to get rid of. Oh, and Albireo, ran into her. But I don’t really get how she could have had a hand in beating Leto up like she did. She was annoying, sure, but…I don’t know. I guess I expected her to be a little more difficult to deal with. She gave me a headache…if you see her, watch out for honking…something.”

He reached his other hand up to rub at his temple as he remembered the headache the super scout had given him that had lasted well into the morning.

Dropping his hand back to his side, he glanced at the girl, eyes drifting to her chest for a moment as the moonlight reflected off her skin while they walked. His managed to pull his eyes away from her flesh and focus on the hallway in front of him before he spoke again. “I tell you, though. You look better in that than in any cheerleading outfit I ever saw you in.”

Or maybe it was just because now he could sense her aura—her power—and power had always been a thing that attracted Jett. Before, she’d just been Raven. Pretty girl, but not really anything special to him. It was only now that she was involved in the Dark Mirror Court that he had really started to take notice of her. Even if in the Surrounding, she’d been company but not much else—despite the fact that he’d still risked his life to save her up there.

He had run into Albireo? Huh. Well, it seemed Remarque had fared a lot better with his meeting the senshi then Leto had. Wait…what did he just say? “She honked? How lame is that…” Lesath shrugged then gave a grin as he complimented her outfit.

She knew she looked good in it, and she was glad he had noticed. It proved to her that he wasn’t blind.

“Well, thanks. I’d say the same to you…but…Your outfit is so bright…though, I do like how it shows off your arms.” Lesath paused in her walking and reached up to Remarque’s left arm, running a finger down from his shoulder to the edge of his gloves. “Even if it is kind of a loud costume…it works for you, Remarque. It shows off what people should see. “

And what people should fear.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:15 pm

Remarque couldn’t help but be pleased with the praise; it just wasn’t in his nature to not like to be appreciated. “You like it?” he asked with the smallest of smirks. “I’m getting used to it. Still feels like a costume, but I’m not complaining.”

Even though he really should have. He wasn’t one for flamboyant colors, and it was getting pretty damn cold the later in the year it got. Still, he had gotten used to it, and with all the extra time he’d spent dealing with mirrors, it was sometimes odd when he looked in the mirror and wasn’t wearing it.

If Lesath was flirting, it had gotten his attention and he stopped walking, turning to face her. They were closer now, faces perhaps only a few good inches apart. “But you will have to tell me,” he said, voice a bit softer and taking on an almost sultry tone, “Just what it is you think people should be seeing.”

Lesath reached her hand from his wrist to gently caress his face, eyes bright with happiness, and a bit of mischief. “Well, your strength, of course. The way you’re always able to turn a situation around to how you want it to be. Most of the time, anyway.”

Her hand slipped from his face again, going to nestle in his hand once again. “They should see that you’re stronger than they are. You have an advantage that they don’t have. They should see that you were smart enough to start out on the right side of this war…and they would be lucky to get the chance to come to our side.”

Of course, that’s not how it was supposed to work…it was supposed to be tell them why they were on the losing side, blah blah blah, but, that didn’t matter. Raven was still angry with the senshi for bringing them up into space to begin with, and of course, that made Lesath have a personal vendetta against all of the White Mooners. They weren’t fit to remain on the planet. End of story.

Remarque wasn’t one to turn down ego stroking, so he let Lesath deliver her praise without any protest. When she finished speaking, he couldn’t help but feel empowered. Sure it was one thing when you thought highly of yourself, but it was completely different when some pretty girl was telling you how awesome you were.

”Well, now,” he mused, clearly satisfied with her answer, “I didn’t know you thought so highly of me, Raven.” He had no qualms over using her real name; they were alone and there was a phenomenally low likelihood that anyone else was here in the museum anyway. He leaned closer to her, gently pressing her against the wall.

He took both her hands, lacing fingers with them as he pinned them lightly to her side; his hip nestled snuggly against her. Remarque leaned close, nuzzling the side of her face just so slightly. “…I like when you talk like that,” he mused, tone a mesh between conversational and flirtatious.

He had never been this close to her before…never of his own volition, at least. Sure they had this incident in space when Raven’s hormones had gone through the roof or something and they had that lovely few minutes of kissing—but, this seemed to be more than that. And much more real than that as well.

The blonde senshi grinned, giving his hands a little squeeze. “Well, I’ll make sure I alert you to your good traits more often then, Jett.” She gave a little laugh.

Now, this was how to have fun in a museum. Pinned against the wall by an incredibly attractive, powerful guy that you’ve been crushing on for years.

Yup. If patrolling turned out to be more like this more often, she’d be out on the streets more often.

“Though, I wouldn’t want your ego to get any larger than it is already. I figure you already consider yourself to be almost God like…or am I wrong about that?”
