One of Erebos' ears pivoted, keeping track of Ark while the other focused on his target. He was lithely built, good for strength but better for speed, but he was much larger than the Zorua who, he noted, had her own slew of skills. Well used to adapting in such situations, he modified the speed and direction of his gait to prevent the two of them from crashing or having to slow if they neared at an awkward angle, all the while gaining upon the perpetrator, and gaining fast.
He went swiftly, as quick as the wind, as silently as the falling of a leaf, his cold gleam of fangs reflecting small traces of moonlight from under his raising lip. With little warning, he prepared to strike--
"Rattata!" Leto screeched, hoping the attack would be enough to halt her pursuers. She drew herself up indignantly, furiously licking her paws and rubbing her face and whiskers as she did so, her tail straight and alert. "<<What was that for?!>>" she asked the two, her irritation clear in her voice.
"Very," Genesis agreed. "But then again, Eros here isn't that old, so th--"
Before she could finish, she was cut off by a terrible screech. One hand clasped the map and went quickly towards her ear while the other holding the flashlight arced the low beam of light across the field, searching for the sound. When it landed on the small perpetrator, she nearly face-palmed.

Ark quickly disappeared in a patch of tall grass. She began circling around so she would be behind the strange pokemon. She flinched a little a the screech but quickly began moving again. She came up on the indignant Rattata from the behind and cocked her head. They got all worked up over this little thing? <> She asked moving closer to sniff Leto.
Archie was still on Doyle's shoulders but nearly fell off when the screech sounded. He looked around and soon spotted the small Rattata. "Chen!" He squawked settling again on Doyle.
"I suppose he isn't. Just looks older from all the scars." Doyle replied a moment after the screech. He helped make sure Archie didn't fall off as he got settled again. "Is that a pokemon you know?" He asked seeing the small perpetrator and Genesis' reaction to it.

Erebos wrinkled his nose at the Rattata, contemplating his next course of action. He recognized the Pokémon as Genesis', but he also knew she had run away shortly after her capture. By cutting off her ties from his trainer, she had lost the only foolproof protection she had against him. But now, here she was, acting as if she belonged.
With a huff, he took a step back and waited to see what Genesis would do.
"Yes," Genesis replied, after some pause. "She's mine. Or at least, she was." She frowned, remembering the experience.
After the Jirachi incident, a Rattata had followed her -- or, more specifically, Erebos. She still had her Poké Ball and threw it as a joke, but the rat Pokémon had wanted to get caught, and purposely went inside. But after she had been named and let out from the ball, she had run away again. Genesis hadn't thought much about it -- the gain or loss of a Rattata wasn't going to have a huge impact, after all -- but she didn't she'd see her again.
Perking up at the question and turning quickly to face the one who addressed her, Leto perked her ears, pausing her twitchy motions.
"<<I'm Leto!>>" she explained, standing on her tippy-toes to nose at the much taller Zorua, as well, the previous near-death apparently forgiven. "<<What about you?>>"

"She was? Did you release her permanently from her pokeball? Or just let her out for a little bit?" Doyle asked. There was quite a difference between the two. Mostly the fact that if anyone else tried to capture this Rattata it wouldn't work if Genesis only let the pokemon out and not permanently released her.
Ark glanced at Erebos with the corner of her eye and saw his reaction. Apparently he didn't like this Rattata very much. Giving the smaller pokemon her attention again she tilted her head the other way. <> She replied. She heard Archie squawk again and turned to look at her trainer. It seemed like the humans had stopped moving when Leto appeared.

"Eh," Genesis said simply, the tone implying she didn't know but that she didn't care much, either. "I let her out for a bit and she just ran away. Dunno why, but I guess she decided to come back."
Without checking to make sure Leto did intend to stay this time, she rustled the map and opened it again, to remind them both of their original purpose.
"As for this place," she continued, thumbing Inhinx on the map, "It's pretty abandoned now. There was some sort of riot from the Pokémon, and few dare go near it now. But it makes for a good hiding place, if you can avoid some of the still Pokémon that are still bitter towards humans, that is."
Erebos silently watched Genesis, sensitive towards the small quirks and nuances of her motions and actions that betrayed her emotions. Still, he could not find anything that showed she harbored any ill-will towards the Rattata, and didn't even seem to mind her presence. He wondered about her decision but did not question it. Her decision was all he needed to know.
With another glance towards the Rattata, he resumed shadowing his trainer, now attentive towards Leto, as well. As long as she remained a possession of Genesis' (for he could not see the relationship between his human and another Pokémon as any other -- to him, Genesis would always be the higher being, and her Pokémon merely tools to aid in her goals), he would have to make sure, at least somewhat, that no life-threatening harm came to her, or that she would threaten their plan.
Leto nodded at the Zorua's question, her ears large ears flapping with the motion.
"<<That's a pretty name,>>" she declared when Ark spoke, nodding her head again as she said so, as if it would add weight to her claim.
"<<Is your trainer nice?>>" she suddenly asked, her words quick and excitable. "<<I thought mine would be, but as soon as I looked away, she left! And look! There she goes again!>>" Looking even more disgruntled than before, she clambered upon the larger Pokémon's back without warning, then stared intently at the two humans, willing her new steed to follow them.
Such behavior more likely than not hinted towards the truth of the story. She had seen William, a Rattata friend of hers, perch on Erebos' back like a wizened king when they had all been stuck in the mansion. She and William were old friends (rivals, onlookers might have said, but Leto would always insist they were just the opposite), and upon seeing the small Pokémon "tame" such a large, rare, powerful being (in reality, Erebos simply had better things to do than to worry about a light weight on his back), she had rushed up to the same Lucario when he had left the mansion, insisting on doing the same and proving she was better than her friend (all in good jest, of course). It was then that she had been caught, and she had been so pleased, thinking it was her strength that had appealed to her new trainer, not boredom. And she had run off to gloat to William, and such was when the misunderstandings began.

Doyle kept quiet about her explanation of Leto. "Huh." Was all he said. When she rustled the map and began walking again he followed. He looked at the map and nodded. "Does sound like a good place to hide if you can avoid the hostile pokemon." He paused and looked around on the map, "Anything else you think I should know?"
Ark noticed a movement out of the corner of her eye and looked to see the trainers and Erebos walking away. <> She replied getting ready to follow everyone else. It was then the rattata climbed on her back. Ark froze and turned her head to look at Leto. <> She said sharply. She quickly shook herself to rid her back of the rodent pokemon. Once Leto was off she quickly passed the humans using her Agility.
Archie turned his head to watch the other pokemon. When the humans began to move again he squawked at them to let them know. <>

Genesis pressed her mouth into a thin line as she contemplated. She wasn't quite sure what Doyle would need to know exactly or where he would go or how long he would stay, and she didn't to waste his time, or hers, with irrelevant information. In the end, she simply said,
"This place is dangerous -- this is safe -- this is a good spot, but there are little Pokémon," while her finger traced Carona Coast, Zatao Grassland, and Clockwork Wasteland on the map respectively, hoping that the rest of the locations would speak for themselves (Pilkiras Plain and Seatence Valley were relatively protected, for instance, due to their proximity to the inhabited towns; the mysterious heights of Kesfas Mountains were largely unexplored due to their unconventional location far away, with Inhinx in the way; and so forth).
She handed the map to him then, a quick, "you can keep it" signalling the end of their discussion. She turned off the light shortly after and returned it to him, as well. They were getting close to Howling Forest.
Erebos' eyes adjusted quickly, his red irises almost glowing in the night. Still, it was merely a subtly play of the small pinpricks of light above, unnoticeable to those at a distance, and it did not compromise their location.
The scents of the forest and dark feelings in the air grew as they neared their destination, and he tread along the trainers even more carefully now, wary of the numerous Pokémon and the abilities they could use to ambush them.
As they walked, he assessed their current strengths. Genesis was the only one he was certain of -- everyone else was new to him, a downside that he hoped wouldn't be too much of a drawback. The Rattata was smaller than the rest, and could prove herself useful so long as she listened. The human male did not appear to lack the brain so many others of his kind apparently replaced with rocks, which he was grateful for, for both his sake and his trainer's. The Archen was powerful without a doubt, but his training was questionable due to the limited time, and Erebos thought it best to remain wary around the small Pokémon. The Zorua... was fine, compared to the others, he finally concluded.
Annoyed, Leto did as Ark requested, twitching her whiskers with the form of exasperation only a rat could muster. But it was fine, she consoled herself. Soon, she would prove to them all what a blessing it would be to have her on their backs!
Quick on her feet, she ran and caught up to the others, hissing towards the Archen as she did so. (Apparently, she was still in a temper.) When she was beside Erebos, she maintained the same speed as him for a moment before leaping onto his back, resting and panting with the exerted effort once she had positioned herself to prevent from falling.

Doyle nodded and listened to her point out several more locations. "Good to know.... and thanks." He said taking the map and the light. He shoved them both in his bag and began to look around. They had to keep on their toes now that they were close to their goal. His eyes didn't take too long to adjust to the dark and he was able to make out some tree shapes coming up.
Archie hissed/squawked at Leto as she passed him. Stupid rodent. Didn't she know that he could eat her for breakfast? Sensing a change in the atmosphere Archie perked up. His eyes narrowed as he looked around. Where were they?
Ark was glad when Leto got off of her. She narrowed her eyes as the Rattata hopped on Erebos but didn't say anything. Instead she disappeared into the darkness going ahead to scout the forest. She noticed at Hoot Hoot up in one of the trees but it was no cause of concern. It was only when she found some broken branches and crushed bushes did she sound out. "Ruuu!"

Genesis remained silent as they neared, her steps carefully controlled to allow as little noise as possible and her clothes tightened so that they wouldn't rub against one another.
When she grew used to the dark long enough to make out some trees, she lifted her hand, two fingers outstretched, the others curled, and was about to make a gesture when she realized Doyle didn't know her signals. At all.
It didn't occur to her to go over a few before they reached the place. Having spent most of her time with Erebos and the rest in solitude, save for brief moments of socializing, she hadn't had to do so before.
Sighing inwardly, she figured she would use the common ones everyone understood somewhat. But before she could try, Flint's Zorua called, and she whipped her head up, both because the tone implied something was up, and the sound could have been heard by another.
Erebos didn't mind Leto's presence, surprisingly. In his mind, it was almost better this way, so long as she didn't prove herself an nuisance. She barely weighed a thing to him, and he could better keep track of her movements now.
Suddenly, his ears pointed towards Ark and he began to lengthen his stride to reach her faster. Lacking the noise-causing attire humans often wore, it was easier for him to do so without so much as a whisper being heard. His toes were wide-spread to leave less of an impression on the ground, and he sniffed the objects of Ark's attention curiously.
Now perched comfortably on her throne, Leto glared at the Archen's expression towards her, ignoring the destroyed section of forest that so held the others' attention.

Doyle saw Genesis about to signal and tilted his head. What was it she was going to try and signal him about? He didn't know any of her signals so if she tried to use hers he wouldn't be able to properly comply. Hearing Ark's call he began walking towards the sound. He saw the Lucario dart off probably going to see what was up.
He soon reached the spot just a few feet into the forest. There were quite a few broken branches and many of the small bushes were trampled to death. It looked as though something big came through here, just taller than himself. He looked to Genesis and pointed to the broken branches. "I wonder if this is part of the pokemon attacks." He whispered very quietly.
Archie caught the glare as he was looking around. His eyes just happened to go past where the little Rattata was and it was then that he saw the glare. His feathers began to get ruffled as he puffed up in agitation. He was soon scrambling down Doyle. He was about to make a squawking noise but was hushed by Doyle and Ark. So he settled with a glare.
Ark waited until Doyle and Genesis showed up and pointed to the broken branches and bushes with her nose. She then began sniffing the ground going along the 'tunnel'. For there was a big path of broken branches that led deeper into the woods. She looked up when she heard Archie climbing down Doyle and hissed when she saw he was about to make noise. "Zoooo"

"Could be," Genesis returned, just as quietly. They didn't have enough information to be certain, especially since they were in Howling Forest, after all, which was known for its fair share of Pokémon. But who would destroy their own home? This had been done by either a Pokémon gone mad or one new the area, and it was as good a clue as any.
Following the path it seemed to make, she searched for any clues, whether it be in the form of a print or crack or tuft of fur, that would help them identify the culprit.
Erebos ran at Ark's side now, his lope steady and controlled, his senses searching. Whatever had damaged these trees had had friends to help or, if it was but one, was larger than the both of them combined. He had fought such Pokémon before, and often, too, and if there had been anything he learned, it was that they should watch out for surprises, for a blow from such a creature could knock them down quickly.
Leto, still happily oblivious to the situation, stifled a laugh at the Archen's reprimanding. She leaped off, intending to climb Doyle's other leg to claim Archie's old spot, when she felt Erebos grab her sides and then continue on, holding onto her like a baby Meowth. She huffed.

Doyle nodded and continued down the new path. If it led to the new base it would point towards it being part of the attacks. If not then it was just a random path that some pokemon or pokemons made. He also looked around but didn't see anything. He continued going until they had walked quite a ways. "Where exactly is the hideout?" He asked quietly while pausing.
Archie followed after everyone silently laughing at how the rat had been caught. Served her right! He spotted some tuffs of fur sticking to some bushes and broken branches. He didn't pointed them out though. After all if the humans passed them up the tuffs must not be important.
Ark was investigating the path as they continued down it. She wasn't surprised to see Erebos keeping up with her. In fact she was a little glad. It would make looking for clues a bit easier. She spotted some fur stuck to a bush and stopped to point at it.
((Feel free to find clues. I can't wait until they discover the cause. XD ))

Genesis remained silent after Doyle's question, her frown expressing her troubles. Finally, she said, "Right where this leads, it seems."
Before she could continue, she spotted something strange. It was the very tuft Archie had seen, illuminated in the dark by small flecks of moonlight filtering through the leaves.
Pausing mid-stride, she crouched to peer at it, then, making a low, barely audible sound with her breath, she motioned for Erebos to come.
Erebos, too, had seen the fur, and he dropped Leto and pawed her to the side before thrusting his nose close to it. He did not touch it, however, for he suspected the moist surface on the pad of his nose would damage the evidence. He got in only a single, vaguely familiar sniff before he heard one of the signals Genesis used, and immediately he turned away and approached her, checking to see why she had called him.
Spotting the tuft easier than she had with her human eyes, he stood on his rear legs, his forepaws resting against the trunk for support, and lightly brought his nose closer, exhaling as he did so to spread the scent particles around. Immediately, it became clear to him that they belonged to the same owner, and one he had met before.
Leto, happily free to move on her own, darted towards Doyle before anyone could stop her, and made a mad dash towards the cuff of his pants to try and climb her way up.
((Same here. XDDD If all goes well, Leto will have sufficiently distracted them enough for the culprit to run past, and they can all think it's a ghost for a while. emotion_awesome -shot-))

It was Doyle's turn to remain silent. This didn't bode well if this big tunnel led right to the new base. He was frowning and staring at Genesis. He then noticed the tuffs of fur. He was about to say something when something began climbing his leg. He looked down and caught a glimpse of Leto before she moved to the back of his leg. "Get off!" He said shaking his leg. He didn't want the rat pokemon on him at all!
Ark watched as Erebos sniffed the fur and then went to his human. She also followed him and saw more fur. She was about to sniff it herself when she heard Doyle. She turned to see Leto trying to climb her trainer. Ark's eyes narrowed and she quickly darted over. "Zoru...." She hissed before putting her front paws on Doyle and trying to n** Leto.
With everyone suddenly busy with the fur or Leto, Archie was the only one to get a clear view of something darting past them. It was tan and orange with a little bit of black. It was moving so fast that it had to be either Agility or Extreme Speed. "Chen!" He cried out taking a step back.
Having been at the base trying to get someone's attention a certain someone had been yelled out and chased away. As he was running he heard new voices. Peeking out from behind a large rock he spotted two people he knew. He got a bright glint in his eye as he moved out from behind his hiding spot and rushed past the humans and their pokemon with Extreme Speed. Maybe this would get their attention?

The commotion attracted Genesis' attention and, seeing the cause of it, irritatingly plucked Leto from her position on Doyle's knee, holding her by the scruff of her neck. She knew the sudden stirring of noise that could have compromised their position was, in part, her fault, but Arceus she didn't think Leto would be like this to anyone other than Erebos (whom she knew could take care of himself) and the Rattata's size and speed, along with the heightened senses that came with being a Pokémon, would have been valuable assets on this mission.
With a glare and a finger to her lips, she silently warned the Rattata before dropping her to the floor. She continued on to better observe the clues they had already found, but the sound of a soft, speedy gust of wind from behind, along with Archie's warning cry, stilled her in her tracks and she whipped around to see what had been the cause of the noise.
Leto chittered excitedly, adding to the noise. What an exciting adventure she was having! Her nemesis, the Archen, was away, and she was soon about to perch his high throne made of the shoulder of his human servant. Along the path to her goal, the servant who was putting up a desperate fight, but her earlier steed seemed to be coming gallantly to her rescue.
She waved a paw at the Zorua, trying to let her know she could take care of it herself, but was suddenly lifted from her place and taken afar by her trainer's hand.
Unharmed but alarmed, she attempted to give a few words of protest but was silenced and dumped unceremoniously on the floor. She would have made vocal her complaints to such treatment had she not heard the passing of a large creature and, ears twitching, she excitedly wondered what enemy was out to get them today.
Before Erebos could place the familiarity, he, too, heard a sound that called for attention. Unlike Archie, he had been absorbed in his work and was unable to catch sight of the culprit, but he had certainly herd the noise it had made and he bristled dangerously at the prospect of an enemy. From the sound, he had deciphered that it was an extremely large Pokémon, one that would tower over him and Ark both, and the description matched the physical indicators they had found thus far, from the high broken branches to the easy decapitation of bushes.
Choosing to act before the safety of his trainer could be threatened, he rushed quietly towards where he had thought he heard the enemy go, his fangs gleaming coldly in the night.
((Pffff omg. xD This can only end well. 8D -shotagain-))
