My mom gave me a $20 gift card to Meijer's (a grocery store) for my birthday. She didn't even give it to me on my birthday because she threw herself a graduation party (she graduated from college). So, I spent my 20th birthday alone at home, sleeping because my family was gone and my fiance had to work.
I know I should have been grateful for it, but the added circumstances just stung a bit.

For my birthday last year my mother gave me $50. Two days later I had to give her $70 for my cell phone bill. I was livid. Like, you couldn't take 10 minutes to go to even a pharmacy and pick me up some makeup I always say I like? Or something I could actually keep and call a birthday gift? I don't care how much it's worth, it's the thought that counts. That was just thoughtless. stare

yes my mother in law gets me gifts and i absalutly dont like them almost all the time and i just dont wanna hurt her feelings but i tell her my taste and she dont listen i think she gets me the stuff on purpose
