A wonderful movie, it was my first Smith flick (which I saw in theatres) and is still my favorite.

And the soundtrack is awsome.

From what I hear Mallrats was supposed to be Mr.Smith's first "real" movie.

Mallrats was my first Kevin Smith movie, one I used to watch with my brother when I was younger. I had it recorded on VHS and I didn't even think of it until I started going through those and found Mallrats. That's when I got involved in Kevin Smith stuff, because then JASBSB came out and I realized they were in more than one movie. >.<

I love the movie. Brodie is definitely 50% if not more the reason why I watch it. xd

I hate the editing they've made to Mallrats in order to show it on TV.... they're showing it on WE for crying out loud.... Women's Entertainment.... LAME!!!! stressed

Also it's 2 in the freaking morning... and it's cable/satellite.... I think they can get away with the words s**t, damn, and a** stressed . To boot, they needed at least a pack a day smoker to dub over Jason Mewes....
I know what you mean. I was watching it on tv at my friend's house when she hadn't seen it yet. We still remember the horridness of them making Brodie say "Bullsnot!" Even worse, "I 'met' with Rene in the elevator". Well, I'm off to go meet with someone. :XP:

It's Jason Mewes favorite View Askewniverse film-- mainly because he had the most fun, out of them all, when making it.

His favorite in terms of content was Chasing Amy.

I will say that, yes, it is my least favorite of the View Askewniverse films-- even including Jersey girl. It's not as intelligent, or as clever, or as perceptive about people, and the way they talk and inter-relate as every other film of his was.

It just... wasn't up to par, for Smith.

Mallrats was my Smith Cherry Breaker, after renting it out of being a Mallrat myself, i figured what this take on it was. I LOVED it and the interpretation of the Mallrat, perfect example of my kind. And then i realized Jay and Silent Bob and instantly went nuts looking for JSBSB, then Dogma, then Clerks, then finally Chasing Amy, i Own Clerks X, JSBSB, and Special Edition of Dogma, Chasing Amy and mallrats i burned from the Blockbuster Copies.

But yes

GREAT MOVIE, Loved the third n****e too.

I wanted to see this at the theater, but the damned thing never opened around here stressed It was worth the wait though because it is one of my favourites. i know he got roasted over it from the critics though. I remember he said something like "What can they say better about me then what they said abotu Clerks? and what can they say worse about me then what they said about mallrats?" Kevin has also noted that when doing cons and stuff Mallrats is the movie most people say is their favourite. Heck, I even got him to sign a Mallrats poster for me when I met him.

Anyway, I love Brodie because I am so much like Brodie. My friends even thought the char could have been based on me redface I thought the stink palm bit was priceless and the trip to the dirt mall was great too. I loved how the one guy couldn't see the hidden picture because I could never see those damn hidden pictures either! Also, it gets a big plus that Stan Lee is in it! Great cameo! I also love how Bob tries to use the force and he flips out in the end when he is hanging upside down and he thinks he has finally done it. The dialogue was great and Jason Lee was fantastic

I liked this movie a lot. I think it's my second favorite behind Clerks. *I like the early ones best*. All the characters are good, and I like the story. I'm glad that they carried the force joke over to the later movies. (Wasn't it in JASBSB?)

I have absolutely no idea why it got bad reviews while Clerks got outstanding ones. The humor is closely related in both, in that it comes alot from ordinary conversations and running gags- "back of a Volkswagen" etc... Anyways, Mallrats is sooo underrated.

I didn't know it rated so bad. I got into so far after it came out. I loved the gag with Jay and Silent Bob trying to break down the stage.

This is still one of my favorite movies of his. One of my favorite bits is Brody telling the story about his cousin whacking off on a plane thats about to crash, everyone joins in, plane rights itself and everyone stops and acts like nothing happened, Gil Hicks then asks if he came or not.
Brody's response is priceless, "THERE ARE SOMETHINGS YOU JUST DONT TALK ABOUT IN PUBLIC!"

I'm so intimidated. I look at everybody's post and I'm like "Wow, they really know their Kevin Smith films."

Then I realize that I know them too. eek rofl

I love mallrats. Looking at it from the romantic view, I understand it all. But I also love all the comedy.

Favorite moment... when Bob shows his amazing batman skills. And all of his toys.
