Altair noted her ears droop, he understood secrecy, there were many many things he couldn't tell her, in fact his name was one of the very few he probably could. "Velvet... you have a little something on your face" he said in an amused tone as she munched on the apple, some juice had escaped her jaws and was dribbling down her chin. She seemed cheerful enough now, he wasn't quite sure what to make of her yet but at least he was talking... wouldn't Ezio be pleased

She leaned her face closer to him, not able to see it and there was nothign to look in like a puddle near by. "Where?" Her eyes a bit to innocent for the rather flirty gesture and unspoken suggestion.

Altair brought a hoof up and wiped at the dribble with the fabric of his sleeve "There" he chuckled, not seeing the situation as anything flirty. "Maybe take a smaller bite next time" he said with a smile.

She smiled. "Thanks..." Blushing again, not used to someone like him, most would have teased her for that. "Yeah maybe, but tehn.... I... I'm used to havign to eat fast." She usually bolted a food as if anyone caught her from her family it would either be taken or she would be teased for eating fruit.

Altair shrugged "better than messing up that fluffy chest fur with apple juice" he said, catching her look "why would you have to eat fast? is there not plenty of food where you live?" he asked, confused. He didn't know her family history so he wasn't likely to understand. No matter how hard times got the were always well fed back home.

Velvet shook her head. "No, there is plenty of food, its jsut my family.... Its very much the survival of the fittest..." Though she had been finding lately that she was eating more than usual.

Altair twitched an ear, this family where only the fittest survived was familiar but this mare shouldn't have to put up with that sort of thing, she wasn't an Assassin after all. "Well you are always welcome to graze around here uninterrupted if you wish, i can organise for someone to make sure there is food for you here" he offered, they had plenty and could easily barter for more if they had to. For some reason he didn't want the fluffy, quirky mare to have to suffer hunger, true that he hated anyone going hungry needlessly but that was besides the point.

Velvet blinked at him and beamed brightly, planting a spontanious kiss on his cheek. "That's really sweet, and thank you but I've watched out for myself a long time, but its really nice that you would do that for me." She didn't know many (if any) that would have done that for her.

Altair blinked, her affection was not what he was used to at all, at least not from a stranger, he wondered for a second whether this was the sort of thing Ezio said to mares, ""It's nothing" he said modestly "I see no need for a family not to make sure all memberes eat well enough" he said, this was true in the Assassins, while they had to be fit to survive, in the creed you were family and while not everyone looked out for each other like he and Ezio did, they worked as a team at times, worked as a family.

She looked at him and blushed again. "Sorry... I seem good at upsetting stallions...." She had been told off for calling one handsome before, she didn't understand it, he had been handsome. Sighing softly, lowering her head a little. "And don't get the wrong idea.... my fathers a skinwalker, hes not that bad really but he can be kind of harsh, but mostly it comes down to my sister taking more after him than me or my brother..." Not that her brother was really any better. Shifting to look at him again, having made some distance between them.

Altair smiled warmly "You didn't upset me, it's just... i'm not used to strange mares kissing me" he said with a soft chuckle. He tilted his head as she began to move away then nodded in sudden understanding "I see, well.. just because he is a skinwalker that does not make him bad, after all you are here and have siblings. It's not always a blessing to take after one parent over the other" he said with a silent sigh. "Most parents are harsh but some are harsher than others" he added, memories of his own father flashing across his mind as he looked at her. He understood what she must have gone through as a foal growing up. Perhaps this was why he felt a mild urge to want her to be safe. Safe and looked after like he and Ezio never were.

Looking round at him, a radiant smile lit her face. Were she more elegant she would be beautiful, but her clothing was too unusual, her hair too boyish. As it was she only ever managed to look cute. Her smile cooling, becoming more sweet than a big grin. "Your kind, and your foals are... or will be very lucky to have a father like you." Not knowing his status, but covering her bases and still managing to speak her mind without really thinking.

Altair smiled widely, she was smiling, that was much better than the hurt look she'd had moments earlier. "I am far from kind Velvet and i have no foals, no do i plan to have any" he said, perfectly true. He had no set plans besides taking care of the brotherhood, foals weren't in his future for the time being. "I raised my brother from a young age, that was enough" he said in an attempt to be jovial, his mind clouded with the things he had done in the past, yes he was far from kind, he was probably closer to her father's nature than hers. He had to admit, she was a rather sweet mare though even if she was.... spontanious most of the time.

Velvet shakes her head, leaning in and peering into his eyes, a thoughtful look as she considered, shaking her head again. "No.... You might not be all sweetness and light, but we all have a dark side... But your good... I don't know what you have don'e that puts that look in your eyes but.... You didn't do it because you enjoyed it... I'd stake my life on that." Nodding decisively, pretty sure of what was in the end a guess. He had guilt in his eyes, if you did bad things and liked it you didn't have guilt.

Altair shook his head, letting the hood cover his eyes in darkness again while leaving most of the rest of his muzzle exposed. "We all have our secrets Velvet, it's better not to talk of such thigns" he said, not trying to be mean but his voice hardened a little. She was perhaps only half right, it was true that he held onto some guilt but those he had killed had deserved it, he killed for services traded. If the target was honestly innocent then yes, he returned with the 'job' unfinished but those that were guilty while he hadn't taken pleasure in the actual kill, he felt no remorse for it either. The one thing he enjoyed was the chase and the trailing and tracking, getting the target into the best possible position for the final assassination. "It's best that we talk of other things Velvet, i have no wish to discuss this further" he sighed.
