When i was 5 years old i saw previews on television of the Musical ^^; so my parents bought me the musictape and listened to it all the time.

((Without knowing what it was about ^_^;; and since the Dutch version is a little bit more perverted than the english, i sung when i was that age about orgasms O.o ))

And when i was 6 my Grandfather died and at the Funeral i sang the Dutch version of "Wishing you were somehow here again" ^^;

When I saw the trailer for Phantom of the Opera (I am on le phone) my mom kept talking and talking about it. It sounded pretty good, so I went to go see it with my cousin Gary Jr. and we both fell in love with it. Then a month after it came out I got the book and began to read it, a few hours later I bought the soundtrack. I am still looking for a way to see Phantom of the Opera without my work getting in the way, as well as my visits to my lovely Uncle and Aunt (they won't leave me alone!!). Some how I'll have to keep my cousin in his seat as we fly across, and he'll have to keep me from freaking out. I be afraid of heights... sweatdrop

When I was little, I was visiting my Aunt and Uncle in Baton Rouge. They had the TV on and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was on. So while my Mom did errands with my Aunt I sat and watched it. Among one of the commercials was one for Phantom of the Opera. The overture struck up and I immediately loved the music. I kept the title in my head and everything, but never acted upon getting the music.

Then in middle school, I raided my school's library for all of their biggest and oldest books. I loved reading all of Victor Hugo's books, but I found some other authors. I remember reading a list of "if you like this book then read.." in the back one of them from the publishing company. I found the title The Phantom of the Opera and decided to check it out. I bought the small Signet Classics version and read that within a week. I didn't get some of the things, so I read it over and over until I was obsessed with the story.

Couple of years ago I bought a CD that had a buch of ALW songs on it done in piano (simply because I like the music) and one of the songs was the PotO theme. So I downloaded some MIDIs and then finally an mp3 with Sarah Brightman and Steve Harley. Later on I downloaded the OCR version with MC and Ms. Brightman. And so on and so forth up until the movie. I haven't seen it onstage, but it hasn't come to Louisiana in years.

When I went on my 5th Grade trip to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, I remember seeing a sign for Phantom of the Opera. I don't know why, but it struck me as something I really wanted to see. That was about six years ago. Every once in a while, I'd ask if my family would take me to see it, but they never answered.. So, I sorta forgot about it for a little while, until Youko-chan reminded me about it. I got the music for the Original Cast, and being the music geek I am, I was hooked on the music. A bit later, I got the movie songs, despite never getting to see it in theatres.

Anyway, I'd had an idea for a while to go see a Broadway play for my Sweet 16. I was torn between Wicked (which my friends had gotten me hooked on a few months earlier) and Phantom. Well, my friend ended up taking us to see Wicked (XD Where I got the music book for that), so I decided on Phantom. I had to beg my family to get the tickets for us, but they did. Only the fourth show I've seen on Broadway, but totally worth it. BTW, I got the music book for this too. heart

As for the books, I have this odd fear of libraries, so it took me a while to get into one for the book. I went after I saw the play, and took out the original novel, and Susan Kay's Phantom, and read both in a little over two days. I also managed to get the ALW Movie the day it came out, and I found the Englund version in Blockbuster (D: They don't have any of the other versions). At the moment, I'm trying to persuade my mom into buying me at least the original version, since I know Kay's version is a bit hard to find, and I love rereading things (which is why I want to buy it. D: I hate libraries). I'm getting there, as she's more worried about my school-required reading than anything else. @.@

When I was in grade 12, I went on an art trip with my school to Chicago. While there we experienced many artsy things, including a trip to the theatre. Conviently, the play that was on, was PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. I had never seen it before, but was excited none the less. Once it began I was enthalled until the very end. I sat staring at the stage in a pure hypnotic stare. After that, there was no turning back. I now own three different versions of the movies, the original novel, and three different adaptations. I have written book reviews for the school newspaper promoting phantom, and have been known to listen to the music quite often. My CD was stolen out of my car though, and that was a very sad day indeed.

Ok well... when I was little I never really knew the phantom story at all... all I knew was that he was a creepy old guy who lived under an opera house and played the organ.
My mom had the original london cast soundtrack and would listen to it when I was little, and I listened to whatever she did. I didn't notice it was Phantom, I just knew it was music I liked (The Ovature was my favourite, I clearly remember that). Although "Christine" (Sarah) I didn't like... lol When I was little I didn't like voices like that at all... but now I like her ^_^;

At that point I wouldn't call myself a phan, not even a fan, lol...

It wasn't until the movie came out, and my friend Becky wanted to see it in theaters but no one would go with her. She begged me to go, and gasp, I said I didn't want to but went anyways. As soon as the Ovature struck in, and everything was converting into colour... the organ pounding away in my head, bringing out the old music from my mom's cd player. The trumpets shouting triumphantly.. everything! Not only was it a flashback in the movie, it was a flashback in my mind! The movie brought out my inner phan, and since then I have read Leurox's novel, purchased the movie and its deluxe soundtrack [and got the piano book as a gift], and enjoy everything ^_^ I love Phantom! *does a jig* heart

Well, when I was 14, I was helping out at Solo and Ensamble (a thing my school hosts every year where kids all from the state who play a musical instrument can come and play for a judge, and the judge critiques them and if they get a 1 or a 2, they get a medal. The orchestra and band kids are made to work it each year and I'm in orchestra, so, wee! lol) and it was my first year working it. So, me and my other freshmen friends were sitting there. The two I was working with in the room left for lunch, and my friend Vince came into my room for a second. He put down his C.D. player and said, "Listen to this." Then, he left for lunch. So, I pressed play, and from the head phones came this beautiful music, and soon after beautiful voices! I loved it all immediately. So, Vince burned me a copy of the C.D. and I listened to it practically non-stop and even had to burn a few others because I kept ruining the C.D.s by listening to it to much! Anyway, I had no idea what the story was about, so Vince told me a little about what it was.

Two years later, back during spring break, my aunt took me to see Phantom of the Opera at the Masonic Temple. AMAZING!! Rebecca Pitcher and Gary Mauer were amazing as Christine and the Phantom!!! Since that night, my Phantom obssesiverness has continued. Three days after that, I saw the movie, then I read Leroux's novel, then Forsythe's novel, and soon I'll be reading Kay's. ^__^

I talk about Phantom all the time. When I was in school and kept making refrences to it, Vince looked at me, then at out friendsz and said, "Never burn her a C.D. Three years later, she's obsessed!" rofl Good times, gooooood times. 3nodding

I was introduced to the musical in choir, when we did a medley from it including the title song, angel of music, all i ask of you, and prima donna. I sang Raoul's part in all I ask of you since there were no guys in the choir at the time. Anyways, after I'd heard those and stuff, I wanted to see the whole thing. Luckily, it came to my city like a few months after that, and I went to see it with my then-bf and absolutely loved it. I read the book (which I've since become somewhat addicted to) and soon was introduced to the strange world of phanfic, which I read all the time now and write occasionally (one-shots mostly. I can't come up with a decent plot).

My best friend has always loved Phantom of the Opera, and she did a program highlighting the best songs from the musical for George Szell Society (my high school's classical music lunch group.. it's a long story. Google George Szell if you're curious about the name). I asked for a copy of her CD, she gave it to me, and I was hooked, having already had a soft spot for musicals. I read the book later, though I can't say I had the best of copies..

When I was nine (or ten. can't remember), my grandparents in NY moved down to Florida so for Thanksgiving we went to visit them. On the way there (we drove), me, being soooo bored, pulled out this old tape that my mom had in one of her...tape cases, or something. I don't know, I can't remember where I got the tape. x_x;

Anyway, I got it, and I stuck it in my new tape player that I had just gotten (a "Goosebumps" tape player), and listened to it the whole trip there and the whole trip back. I completely loved it, but halfway on the trip back home it was ruined and I just cried and cried and cried until my mom ordered me the CD. (T'was the Original Highlights CD with MC!Phantom, in case any of you are wondering.)

I forgot about it after awhile...Then, last year in June, me and my friend were sitting in my room just kinda talking and I just happened to be sitting by my CD rack, and I found that CD again. After my friend had gone home, I put it in my stereo and blasted it real loud and instantly fell in love with MC all over again. heart

Been a phreak ever since. Friends, teachers, parents, and my brother all want to strangle me, but eh! ^^

(Oh, and apparently I had seen it when I was two in CA onstage and had completely loved it, even if I was a baby. whee )
