Chara coughed and sputtered as he stood up and quickly made his way to the water. He was moving better now, he felt a lot better too. That dream was awful! he thought to himself. He calmed himself and slowed his breathing. His sides slowed as his breath returned to normal and he looked up at Nailiah. "Sorry, bad dream" he said calmly and went to graze a little. Now that his body was rested up his stomach wouldn't leave him alone. He could eat a whole tree of apples and still not be full! He stretched and shook the dust from his pitch black coat before he began grazing again. "Did you sleep?" he asked Nailiah in a soft voice.

Nailiah tilted her head then went back to feeding. Her tail flicked behind her as she watched him with concerned eyes. She nodded in sympathy for she too had a horrid dream, but it was one that she hoped would not come true. The mare was careful not to snag her hair as her mane and tail dragged along the ground as she ate. At his question, she nodded finishing up the last bit of flora. "Yes. I slept fine."
Nailiah noticed the change had not went away since they slept. She realized she would have to ask him out right. "Chara, something is apparently bothering you. Is it the fight with the humans or something else?" Her head tilted looking toward him with a blank stare. She wasn't sure how she'd be able to handle him if he would continue being like this.

Chara lifted his head and tilted it slightly to the right. "Something bothering me?" he thought a while before he opened his mouth to reply 'It certainly isn't the fight....that seems light years away now. It's in the past and I don't want to go there again" he said. He didn't want to remember the mistake he had made. He hurt Nailiah by running off and it may be irreparable.
"I guess I am just worried that I was stupid enough to leave you once and it may have hurt our relationship so much so that trust cannot be obtained again." this thought hurt him and tears started to well up in his eyes. He looked away and began to graze again, blinking quickly as to keep the crying to a minimum. He lifted his head up again to say "I'm sorry Nailiah, I know saying it over and over again can't fix what I've done but...I can't live without you. You're beautiful, sweet, kind, you light up my world. I dreamed I lost you, that you left me for another and didn't say a word to me. I don't ever want to feel that again. It was absolutely awful!" he spoke clearly, his voice once again strong and decided. If she rejected him then so be it, but he wanted to let her know just how much he cared about her.

The white mare watched him carefully. Her ears flicked a little trying to catch the tones of his voice. So she was wrong about it being about the fight. The mare didn't think that it could be anything else except what had just transpired between them...
Which of course it was. Chara was apologizing again. This time with a lot more to say. Nailiah felt she was being constricted, but she supposed this needed to be said. She had asked for time, and the most he gave her was a nap. Did he truly care for her so much? The mare looked away for a moment before looking back toward him. "Chara, you are who you are. I am who I am. We do things because it fits us. You wanted revenge for your family and to protect others. I understand that. I, however, could never so such a thing. You know why." and he did. Dark was her chosen, and she couldn't even comprehend the thought of losing her dearest. The fact that he was crying did not make things better for her. At all.
Nailiah took in another deep breath continuing. "What I do for my life is for me, Chara. You flatter me with your praises, and you know that I consider you a strong, valiant, loving, and handsome male. I am sorry that your dream hurt you so much, but you know that I would never not speak to you. You're close to me." It pained her that he would ever think that she would abandon him. Especially when he did it to her. She pushed her growing anger to the side speaking more calmly.
"Chara, I care for you. I do. However, I see that maybe we walk different paths. This obviously won't work if I don't trust you to stay with me, and you don't trust me to be happy with you." It pained Nailiah to play the diplomat, but it needed to be done. She honestly believed that there was no way to salvage what this was without a lot of space between them as well as time for her to think things over. "We need to...separate for a while. I think it would be best for us."

Chara cleared his throat, nodded solemnly and bowed deeply. "We will meet again. I am sorry that I pushed you again so soon. You know how I feel about humans. I know they're not all bad, as a matter of fact I found quite a few kind ones in my recent travels." he turned to walk away. He had upset her, he knew that. It would be best if he just left her alone. He turned around and said "The dream didn't mean I didn't trust you, it meant I was afraid I had hurt you bad enough to make you walk away." with that he started slowly into the forest.
He enjoyed the scenery and had loved this forest the last time he came here. Besides that he knew that this was the only place Nailiah had known to find him. So he would stay there until she decided that she didn't want him anymore, which he feared might be soon.

Nailiah watched him as he left hearing what he had said. However, in her heart, she knew that she had made the right decision. Chara was a good friend fir her, but she realized that in a mate, she needed someone who would speak to her. They needed to be a team, and make decisions together - no matter what. She wasn't the type of mare to want to sit on the sidelines either. And what if humans wanted to extract revenge? Find her and Chara and the others? Nailiah shook her head not bearing the thought.
With a sigh she turned and began walking back toward home with her chosen. Maybe things would turn out for the better or for the worse, but at least it would be her choice. Her tail flicked a little as she went along, her mind full of things unsure.

Chara sighed as he heard her hoof steps slowly dissipate through the forest until he couldn't hear her anymore. Her scent still lingered in the air and he took it in happily. He hoped she would forgive him, at some point in her life. He was sure that she had given up on him. Chara didn't blame her at all, he left without talking with her at all. He had not considered her or her feelings at all.
He sighed, and whinnied quietly to himself as he kicked at a rock. He had fallen for her when he first laid eyes on her and he thought she had felt the same. However this little stunt had driven her off. He was determined to not let this bother him enough to keep him from sleeping. He laid down again looking at a flower nearby and slowly his eyes began to close. His whole body ached, and his heart cried out to not be alone.
