Once again he found himself blushing like a little filly for reasons he could explain or wrap his mind around. She was dead on with them probably being long lost friend, in fact he was sure that must be it. And then he found himself completely caught off guard by her compliment him this time. He knew though that she meant by the intensity in her words. When she stopped he stopped right a long side her and waited for her to finish speaking, wanting to make sure he heard everything she had to say. "Maybe we're soul mate." He said with a smile. It wasn't like soul mates meant they had to be together, it just meant that their souls were destined to be together in any shape or form. Desmond felt very comforted by this idea. That someone could and would accept him for all he was and that he could be himself without others picking on him or bullying him or like so many others, shunning him. Desmond found himself holding back tears of love and acceptance. Two things he had felt from only two others his whole entire life. "Zoey, nothing you say is silly. You always know the right thing to say and have a way with words that I can't compete with." He said with a shy smile. Feeling that she needed comfort once more he wrapped his wing around her body, caressing her in a warm embrace. He felt so much love towards her in this moment he thought he might very well burst from over whelming emotion, yet somehow he stayed in tact. "I lo-- Thank you." Desmond said finally as he rested his head gently on her's.

Soul mates. Those words stopped all of Zoey's thinking. Perhaps they were, it did seem like they were meant for each other. Just as she saw his eyes well with tears, her eyes soon followed suit. His wing provided comfort, one that she accepted eagerly, leaning into his body as if she couldn't stand on her own. It all proved too much for her, her tears escaped her eyes. "No-thank you. Perhaps we are soul mates, I have never given much thought to the meaning of that though. But it just feels....right. Like that perfectly describes the short amount of time that we have spent together. Maybe its nothing, maybe we're just being love-" Shocked at the word that came out of her mouth, she immediately hushed. "Could it be? Could it be love?" She asked wondrously, the word love tingling her tongue like a forgotten memory. Her eyes, still over-flowing with tears, were now filled with awe as well.

Desmond started to cry right along side her when he noticed her tears. He didn't like seeing her cry, for whatever the reason may be. Quickly he pulled her closer and wrapped his other wing around her front in order to cover her fully in his wings. His head lowered so that it met her cheek evenly and he began to move his head to nuzzle her, making sure to be careful that is horns did not hurt her in any way. As she uttered the words about them possibly being in love he felt the air flood into his lungs. Us in love? Desmond thought carefully to himself. Could they be in love? And in such a short time? It must be the work of their souls being destined to meet.
With a gentleness, Desmond pulled his face from hers and stood there next to her, wings still draped over her body with a gentle caress. Something within him felt different. What had happened to him? What had she caused to stir within him. His mind couldn't fathom what had happened to him in just the short time that he had met her. "I love you." He said with finality as he laid his head lovingly on hers. Desmond wasn't sure what this would mean for him or for her or for them a whole down the line. But he did know that he meant it.
