User Image "You make a splendid pretend ghost!" ...well she was the most splendid pretend ghost of all the ones she'd seen, which was one. Double-Stripe needn't know that though. Unblinking Eyes may blurt things out without thinking them through and occasionally after a bit of thought -- it wasn't unheard of her for her to think before speaking, it simply required that she had to find her mind blank first -- but she could keep some things to herself. Usually.

Turning to Bird, she smiled. "See, it's all right." After a slow blink, she turned to see the green doe moving her hoof. Could she not talk with her mouth? She would have asked but the doe started to move forward and she bounced, excitement start to bubble through her. It didn't take long for the other doe's display of courage to wane it seemed and Eyes quickly rushed forward.

"I'll go first! To the bones!" she announced as she led the way. Or -- "Where were the bones?" she asked as she moved forward.

River Stone entered the room, tail swishing behind her slowly as she adjusted her eyes to the steam of the spring. The darkness was bad enough, bu she could identify the shapes of other kimeti in the room already, looking in the direction of something on the ground. Not wanting to draw too much attention to herself she shyly walked around the edge of the room and made her way to the bubbling waters.

"Do you... think a ghost could live here?" She turned to ask Humble, peering down to try to see if there was anything in the dark depths. When the steam rolled away and revealed the bones she gasped, a little frightened but mostly excited that maybe a ghost really was here! River scooted out of the way so that her partner could see. "It's not a complete skeleton, but... Maybe they drowned."

So the acha was intent on following him, and with the canine as well, the buck guessed by the soft sound of panting coming from beside the chattering acha. He could feel other kimeti in the room, all centered around something in the middle-- He decided to stay away from it, thank goodness... The buck might have well fallen into the pit in the center... And could have become a skeleton himself, should he have drowned.

"Sing..." Well, if the acha was intent on following him, at least he could use the other as his eyes for a little bit to possibly try and avoid any mishaps. "What is in this room?" The buck actually had no perception of light and dark, though he could tell when it was light outside by the warmth of the sun. Unfortunately, this far into the cave, he was unsure of anything. Perhaps there was a source of light from somewhere-- Not that it would matter to him. All that he could do was smell the others in the room, picking up light scents of fear, and listening in on some of their conversations. A ghost? That was silly. Ghosts never did talk like that, did they?

Blinding Light wouldn't know.

He had been blind since he had crawled from his sac.

"I suspect a ghost might certainly live here. It's warm and cozy, and if I was a ghost I would want to be somewhere warm and cozy." Well, it was true... He wanted to live somewhere warm and cozy ALL the time. As River scooched aside, Humble blinked, staring down at the bones.

"Whoa..." Suddenly things were not quite as pleasant as he had thought before. Bones sticking up from water... Water that they were far too close to for comfort. "Yikes... I don't know, River. If you were a ghost, would you want to hang out around your own body?"

Or crushed by a cave-in, or stomped on by hooves!” Having skulked on the edges of the main cavern and succeeded in finding dirt, rocks and more dirt, but not her beloved foxbun, Nocturne of Shadow finally entered a room. A busy little room, if the amount of kin in here was to be believed. It was unlike the doe to not be thrilled by company, but her worry and overactive imagination were dampening her natural enthusiasm.

Bones? She heard something about bones. Twining around kimeti without a word, Nocturne trotted further into the fog, closer to the burbling water. She was an odd sight, her nose to the ground like a canine’s, wanting her eyes to be on foxbun level to better find her pet. Her nose hit bleached bones, and she eyed them closely. “You, pale bones, are not my Jolly! Why do you deceive me? Even a cave-badger, a swamp-monster, could not have picked my Jolly’s bones so clean in such a short time!” Childishly, the grey doe stamped her foot, finally turning to talk to the others in the room. She invaded the personal space of one doe, a dark grey beauty with green markings and eyes of a similar gold to her own.

“Have you seen a foxbun? My Jolly has gotten away from me, and I cannot simply enjoy this cave of joy without my Jolly! I worry that he has been eaten, or taken into another world by ghosts, or maybe he has drowned in the water or been attacked by monstrous fungi! Jolly, my Jolly, where are you, my Jolly?”

Click to show.As they entered the cavern, Sing You Home did not stop her forward progress towards the middle group until Blinding Light’s words brought her up short. “What is in the room?” She trotted back over, peering closely up into his face and looking for some recognition within his gaze. She got nothing. “My apologies, cousin Light! I did not realize you could not see.” The Acha turned back to look at the gathered Kimeti. “I will be your eyes today.” She announced proudly.

“There are currently nine lovely Kimeti gathered around what looks like a bubbling pool of water. Better not fall in there. Hang on let me get closer…” Sing trotted towards the group. “Excuse me, excuse me, cousins!” She looked down at the neatly arranged pile of bones. “They are looking at a skeleton.” She called back to Blind, sounding quite pleased and not at all perturbed.

Leave the dead thing alone!” Her sudden exclamation was tempered by a very fond look at the sand dog that had wriggled up alongside her. Cuddles waggled her tail happily and looked out at all the gathered Kimeti, a bone clamped firmly in her mouth.

Her attention was snatched by a newer entrant to the cave and Sing smiled pleasantly at Nocturne. “Perhaps I could help you. My Cuddles is a hunting dog from a very find lineage. I’m sure she could locate your Jolly.”

Backing up a step when he felt the acha nose up in his space, he tripped over a formation of rocks, sending him crashing to the ground on his rear, just in time for Sing to call attention to him from across the room. He was rather flustered, and now he was alone, pressed up against the cavern wall, his head aching from all the noise from the chattering Kimeti, and the prospect of actually being in the same room as a skeleton. Dear Motherfather-- Was there an actual skeleton in a pool of water?!

"O-Oh! I see... Thank you. Well... I will be sticking to the side then. Please do go enjoy yourself." Shuddering slightly as the blind buck stood, his heart thudding heavily in his chest as the acha offered help to a newer entrant of the cave, hoping that he could just stay quietly in the corner-- or whatever side of the room he was on-- until the rest of the souls left, leaving him room to investigate without potentially knocking one of the others into the pool. Unfortunately enough for River Stone, the blind buck had backed into her, bumping rears with her as he jolted in surprise, hoping to the Motherfather that it wasn't some fearsome creature waiting to eat him.

User ImageWings blinked almost fearfully as a strange kimeti walked up to her, before a Cousin interceded. Oh, thank goodness, she thought to herself, letting her head hang slightly in relief. She hated it when kin questioned her directly. She couldn't answer, and that meant a lot of complication.

But the kimeti that the green cousin had been talking to... he was backing up, and bumped into someone, seeming totally bewildered. She blinked, stepping over. "..." Let me help. She walked up to the buck, clicking her hooves in a very obvious, way (she hoped it was a nonthreatening one) and, pressing herself shoulder against his, so that she could maybe guide him to one of the empty parts of the foggy cavern.

River counted the hoofbeats behind her as Humble joined her at the bank of the pool, wanting to enjoy the company while it lasted. When her partner seemed to be less than at happy at the sight of bones her head tilted with a little confusion. "I guess it would be nice to live here... if it weren't so damp." Her coat was beginning to feel sticky and she didn't exactly like it. She was thinking about the answer she was going to give to the blue buck before suddenly someone or something ran into her.

River Stone let out a cry of surprise but held in the instinct to kick whatever had touched her, instead whirling around to find the dazzling kimeti from earlier suddenly there. "O-Oh! Are you okay?" She asked in a small voice, although her heart was beating hard in her chest from nervousness. Talking to two kimeti in one day... it was very strange for the doe. Others seemed to avoid her because of her melancholy nature so even being bumped into was surprising contact.

So many words, thoughts, sounds, feelings... All of them flooded through Blinding Light's mind, and first and foremost, he nodded an apology, beginning to shake from all of the contact. Maybe coming to the cave hadn't been such a good idea after all..? Who was he kidding. He knew it wouldn't be, and yet, he had been drawn to it like a fly to honey.

"Y-Yes... I am sorry." And when the other doe silently pressed up against his flank, the buck nearly flipped, but upon feeling her friendly energy, he was immediately pacified. This doe was strange. He could not feel the hum from her throat like the others... Could she not speak? Upon being backed up away from the water, he let down a portion of his guard, his eyes blindly searching for the doe's face, and when his mind focused on the shape of energy that was most likely her head, he nodded a thanks, his voice low enough for only the female to hear, as to not embarrass her.

"Do you not speak? ... My name is Blinding Light." How was the doe to relay her name, then..?

User ImageIt was a relief, to have the buck follow. But once she had gotten him in the room, he asked her a question.

It was reasonable, not insistent at all. Wings paused, frowning. How to answer to a blind? If he had been sighted, she could draw a bird, and show him the wings, until he made the right conclusion. But this... the language barrier... it made things much more difficult.

She brightened as inspiration struck, and she pursed her lips, clicked her hoof so he would know it was her, and whistled, making a birdcall, then another, then another. Quiet, and short, but the intent was clear.Thrush. Owl. Songbird. Pheasant. Birds. Think Bird.

The noises were simple. They reminded him of the songs he heard the native creatures sing-- The winged ones. The birds. Was she trying to tell him her name? The energy the doe gave off suggested such, and so the blind buck played along, actually enjoying the female's company, where he would normally feel guilty for burdening someone with his lack of sight.

"Bird. Is that all?" Blind wasn't sure if Bird was her actual name, or just part of it, but either way, he knew that was what he would call her by from now until they parted ways. His tail swished gently as his ears perked up to the bubbling noises coming from the water, and he sighed, knowing that he would have to investigate further, but... it would be rather terrifying to be that close to the water with all of those bodies around. Knowing his luck, he would get knocked in, and drown.

User ImageThe female would have nodded, but it would be pointless. Still, he was looking about the room. Was that all of her name? No, but trying to tell him anything else would be an almost impossible task without her friend's companions about. She blinked as she looked about, then paused. She wanted to show him the bones, but there were so many kin milling about... she couldn't see a way that she could get him to the water's edge without risking him falling in.

It was a conundrum, for sure.

She paused as an idea hit her... she didn't like it, but she could try, at least. she pressed her nose against his back and pushed down, trying to gesture that he should sit, should wait where he was. Wait here.

Double-Stripe found herself pushed forward with the sudden influx of arriving kin before she could reply to the silver doe's compliment. Soon, she was close enough to see the skeleton clawing out of the bubbling pool - the bleached white bones weren't a terribly gruesome sight at all, really, and only mildly interesting. "Oh, there is a skeleton here!" she cried, unfazed, and turned to the newcomers. The green Acha, apparently called Sing, aiding a blind buck and scolding her lovely little dog for making his fortune of the decorations. A brown and blue doe and a dark blue buck kept close on the edge of the crowd, and soon the mute doe and the blind buck separated as well. A gray and violently purple doe nosed about in the steam for her Jolly? A pet, it could be assumed. Double-Stripe waited on the edge of the crowd and watched.

If Double-Stripe was feeling overwhelmed, it was nothing compared to the fierce panic rising in Twostep's tiny heart. He didn't know what was going on, or where his friend was, who any of these people were, or why it was so wet and hot. He buried his head in the nearest leg, sad and confused and scared.

Mm. So Bird it was. It was funny-- Or not, really. Depending on how you looked at it-- Blind felt quite at ease with the doe, somehow taking comfort in her inability to utter the spoken language, almost comparing it to his disability with his blindness. Perhaps Motherfather had cursed her too... Or maybe she was blessed for a purpose that Blind was certainly not aware of. When the doe pressed down on his back, he shuddered, the feeling of a creature actually touching behind his line of 'vision' so it were, quite strange, though he took the message immediately and sat, hoping that the doe would come back to him and keep him company.
