Unfortunately for Mandy she wouldn’t be able to ‘smack the distraction out of him’ as she was too busy being smacked around herself, Wests’ blow making her head crack round painfully as she slammed against the ground. Mandy was really coming to appreciate the difference in power between the Years.

Which is why instead of hot headedly rushing West to retaliate for the smack down he just gave her she did the smart thing and woozily took up a defensive position. At this rate she knew she was probably going to lose, West only had a single bite mark for damage on him.

Damage: None
HP: 10/30
Effect: Mandy will block 3 amount of damage from Wests next attack.

Example Battle!

In this post Mandy has gotten sick of being beaten up and is now defending instead of attacking. Defending like everything else is affected by your Year. You roll one die of different sides depending upon it. Whatever you roll is how much damage you block from your opponents next post. If they do not attack successfully in their next post then your defending DOESNT carry over to the next attack after that! You would have to defend again for that to happen and you would have a new amount you have blocked.

As a Year 1 Mandy rolls one four sided die.

West rushed forward again, striking Mandy with a determined grunt. He jumped back and seemed to return to himself a bit as he blinked and stared at the ghoul and her defensive stance. Resisting the urge to fire off a mocking remark, at least temporarily, West took in her somewhat battered form and tried to recall the punches that had gotten her there. He could, but it seemed to him like he had only watched someone else give them to her.

"Givin' up?" he said with a smirk. Yeah, the mocking remarks had definitely only been on hold for a short time.

Damage: 12-4-3=5
HP: 37/40
Effect: West's FEAR has run out!

She knew she wasn't going to last much longer but she wasn't giving up yet, there was something to be said for pride.

"I aint done in yet. Besides I can't let you get away with so few wounds."

That said Mandy lashed out with her hands, clawing West's shoulder.

Effect: None

His eyes narrowed as her claws raked across his shoulder. No, this wasn't done yet, but if he had anything to say about it, it would end now. His fist began to glow again, but instead of the hint of apprehension that had been in his eyes previously, West's grin rapidly spread across his face, lighting his eyes on its way. Very nice. The FEAR he wasn't afraid of.

The boil didn't question the fact that he wasn't feeling particularly drained after using the other one, he just lashed out with all the strength he could muster, feeling the backlash that came with this sort of punch. It was a lot less than last time. Maybe he was getting better at it.

"How 'bout now?"

Damage: 8
HP: 37-2-2 = 33/40
Effect: West has used his Y1 FEAR ability.

Example Battle!

West's Year 1 FEAR is an offensive attack based on The Gambler's Chance.

Die 1: 11 (8-12 is a hit)
Dice 2 & 3: 4 + 4 = 8HP (their sum is the damage West does to his opponent)
Die 4: 7 (2-7 is an 80% backlash damage multiplier)
Dice 5 & 6: 2 + 1 = 3 * .8 = 2.4 (rounded down to 2)

"....Yeah. I concede. I know when I'm done. Thanks for the battle, you live up to your hype."

The smirk that accompanied her statement was ruined by a harsh cough that ended with a little bit of blood on her hands. Jack Wests last attack had done a number on her. She was feeling kinda wobbly, like a strong wind would knock her over and she'd be out.

"I should, er, probably go see Nurse Cricket." there was a slight grimace on her face, she didn't want to see the Nurse. One class with her was all she needed to know to stay away. Still wounds where wounds.

Mandy turned and started to walk unsteadily towards the exit, leaving her wide open to West if he decided this wasn't the end of the fight.

Damage: None!
HP: -3/30
Effect: Mandy is attempting to flee and has lost her FEAR sheild!

Example Battle!

Mandy's HP has slipped below 0 which means she is no longer immune from serious permanent harm. She can now be knocked unconscious if her HP hits -5, be seriously maimed as according to RP or killed if she hits -10. As she is from Halloween this death wouldn't be permanent but it would be unpleasant.

Because of this she has smartly decided to flee her battle. If you wish to flee you have to roll one twenty sided die. Your opponent can then either let you go or also roll a twenty sided die, if they do that and then roll higher than you your attempt has failed and they get another turn to attack you before you can try anything again.

West chuckled at her words, but like he had with Damien, he let her go. He found himself disinterested in beating first years when they were down, but kicking all these Snot asses would hopefully get them riled up enough to fight him when they had more power.

He would have offered to give her a hand getting to Cricket's office, but he figured she wouldn't appreciate that at all.

"See ya next time," he said, turning and heading off the field in the opposite direction, on foot this time.

Damage: 0
HP: 33/40
Effect: Mandy fleed! XD

Mandy called back over her shoulder, “You bet! Next time you’ll be the one heading to the Nurse’s office!”

With that she left the arena completely, the only sign of her left behind was a few splatters of blood on the dirt floor. Next time, she liked that – she’d been a bit worried her awful showing would deter him from wanting to fight again. Not to worry though, next time she planned to be a lot stronger. After all she couldn't let they're score sit at anything less than a tie.
