It was the day almost a century from the time our heroes received a prophecy from the goddess Martel, and exactly a century since the reunion of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. There were celebrations big and small around the singular world, now named Aselia, to mark that day.

Instead of gathering together to celebrate, our heroes agreed to station themselves all over the world to cover wherever the threat from the prophecy may emerge. Though they had not yet seen anything out of the ordinary happen all day, they still remained alert, knowing that the goddess Martel was absolutely never one to fool around regarding such ordeals.

Little did they know that things had been brewing right under their noses for quite a while now, building up to this point.

Our story begins in Sybak. There is a small celebration going on in this town, but it was mostly in the other half of the city, away from the research laboratories. Zelos Wilder, in particular, wasn't in a festival even on his own, for once. He was in the academic city, where he had called for a private conference among influential people and scientists. He was about to go public about a huge---and possibly controversial---project. He had also invited Lloyd Irving to attend the function.

Lloyd has accepted Zelos' invitation curious about what the event was about, but he was happy to see his friend again.

Nearby two troublemakers were waiting for the event to start so they could start their "job"

"Ah, so this must be the place." A cloaked female figure murmured to herself as she took a look around the academic city before looking at a map she was holding. I'm feeling lucky today. She thought to herself. Maybe I'll finally find something that can help me. A smile formed on her lips, getting a feeling of excitement. "Now where to go first..." She would put the map away and took another moment to look around. She glanced over at the Inn, which was the closest building. She thought about going inside, but part of her wanted to explore around.

Walking out from the library, Rin had a look of boredom on his face. He had his feline ears flatten against his head, as if trying to make sure they wouldn't draw any attention. Though he was aware that it wouldn't work out in the long run. If people were to notice, he would just tell them that the ears were just part of a costume. Around his waist was a 'fuzzy belt'. "Okay, why did I decide to go in there? Nothing there but books, books, and more books...Not to mention people were looking at me funny..." He said to himself. "Ugh, where's the good stuff?" User Image All of a sudden, his stomach growled. "Riiiiiight, I haven't eaten yet." He took a moment to look around, wondering where he could get some food at.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having decided to accompany Lloyd, Colette was rather curious on what this event was about. "I wonder what Zelos has in store." She said. Whatever it was, she had the thought that it might be something exciting.
A blue-haired Wingfolk girl with walked into the lobby of the research laboratory, the looks of her turning heads for a few moments because of her mismatched wings. She wanted nothing to do with the light bustle of activity going on outside. Especially with people occasionally going after her for one reason or another, all of them bounty hunters or mercenaries. It was strange...she didn't know what on earth she would be pursued for, if she took care not to break any laws. She hadn't even seen any wanted posters or any such requests to capture her in on the bulletin boards she frequented, or if there were, she missed them.
"Could it be because they've seen you, Oscuro...?" she whispered to herself---no, more to someone within herself, as she stared off into space for a moment. After that pause of thought, she shook her head and walked in the direction of the bulletin board in this place, hoping this would be the day...er, night that she would get to the bottom of this. However...
CLUNK.
Something fell off her shoulder bag, a cup tied to the side of it. It appeared that the strings holding it snapped. "What th---guess this old thing's starting to come apart!" sweatdrop She squatted down to pick it up, but it rolled away from her. She did a double-take at that---she didn't accidentally kick it, and neither did anyone else. She moved forward to catch up with it, but it rolled away again.
Right behind her, the spirit of a man, invisible to the eyes of all, was watching. A type of ghost called a poltergeist, he was the one causing the cup to move away with his will. "I'd like to apologize, but I can get your attention no other way. You cannot hear me..."
"H-hey, get back here!" emotion_sweatdrop The girl felt a slight pang of embarrassment for saying that to an inanimate object of all things, but it kind of came out of reflex. And the cup rolled away each time she would reach for it! She wasn't paying attention, but it was leading her into the library area's shelves. And again, people were staring here and there because of her odd wings.
As the girl attempted to pick up the cup, two male half-elves walked toward the exit, engaged in conversation. One had the unusual (to humans, anyway) greenish-blue hair color that some half-elves had, and wore a white lab coat. The taller one simply had brown hair and a similarly colored shirt. Both wore glasses. The shorter one spoke.
"I'm glad you're taking a vacation now. I wouldn't want you barging in and 'beasting out', as the layman would put it, in the middle of a conference."
The taller one waved his hand at the other. "Come on, man. I'm pretty good at this stuff. Ah, well. I'm not complaining. Anyway-" He raised his finger- "I need to get my stuff!"
The other person, contrasting with the taller one's finger raising, raised his arms in exasperation.
"Eduardooo! Why do you never gather your belongings until the last minute when it counts?!"
"Because that's what happens when I do." The taller one waved his hand in the direction of the cup and the person trying to fetch it. The short half-elf gaped a bit at the girl's wings, "Eduardooo!" did not so much as bat an eye. What, he thinks that's weird? He had seen stranger than that. To some, in fact, he would be considered even stranger...
Along the rooftop sat two men, One was a wingfolk with wings the color of a midnight sky spotted with little flecks of white reminiscent of stars. The other had long flowing white hair, and was wearing a large robe that went far past the bottom of his feet.
~~
Wandering the streets below was a blond woman though she wasn't in any lab attire she seemed to be carrying different texts on summon spirits as well as some smaller volumes on Ratatosk and centurions specifically. She sat down on a bench and began reading. She made note that the town was a bit more lively then usual, she figured it didn't concern her. Especially since her last job payed her enough to survive for the next month.
Also in the Sybak Library was a tall elf with gray skin, blue eyes, and red hair down almost to his knees. He wore black pants, cloth boots, an open heavy jacket with large cuffs, no shirt, red gauntlet-like gloves, and a strange hat on his head with a red feathery adornment in it. The man was reading an unnamed black book with a strange red symbol on the front when something on the ground caught his eye. He slowly turns towards it and places his foot gently on it to stop it from continuing on its path.
"Huh?...a cup?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Meanwhile, on the top of the inn was a very large man with short red hair, blue eyes, and a pale complexion, freckles dotting his face. He wore a sleveless red shirt and sturdy blue pants. The man was muscular, but i was also a bit easy to tell he was well fed. Laying on his back, fast asleep with his hands behind his head and a massive sword laying next to him, he was unaware of the people below him, though he was fairly visible.

"What I have in store, dear Colette, is something that might solve a few problems..."
Zelos strolls through the meeting room until he is able to face everyone. In his hand is a small case, which he opens and takes something out of, an exsphere.
"Bud, tell me what you know of this object."
He tosses the exsphere to Lloyd with a grin on his face.

As the Wingfolk girl walked briskly along after the cup in a crouched position, ready to snatch it back up once she could grasp it, a voice within her mind began to speak.

"Azriel, watch where you're---"
"Oof!"
"---going." =_=;;

That warning was too late. The girl just about headbutted the dark-skinned elf in the stomach, stumbled backward, and fell on her bottom. After shaking her head, she slightly blushed out of embarrassment and rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, looking up at the man. "S-sorry about that! I-I can't believe I had to chase that thing all the way from the lobby..." sweatdrop

"Whoah!!"
The shock of the sudden impact caused the gray-skinned man to drop the book he was observing and look down at the girl that just ran into him. He uses his foot to flip the cup into his left hand.
"Don't worry about it, I'm alright. That was a hell of an impact, but you don't seem injured...but you've got some fight in ya."
He reaches down and offers her his right hand.
"C'mon, on your feet."

Colette's curiosity grew when Zelos told her what he had in store was something that might solve a few problems. She wondered what it could be. It was then her eyes widen when Zelos took out the exsphere. "Isn't that an exsphere?" She asked before she gazed over to Lloyd.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Still unsure on what she wanted to do, the cloaked female figure sighed while wandering the streets. "Decisions, decisions..." She said softly to herself as she noticed on how lively the town was. Was there some special event going on or something? She then notice a blonde woman reading a book. Maybe she might know what the occasion is? She figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask so she slowly approached the woman. "Um, excuse me?"
The ghost behind the Wingfolk girl squinted at the elf, then at the book he dropped. What was he doing with that? he mentally asked himself then shook his head, concluding, Ah, It's just as well. He proceeded to stretch a hand out toward her.
The girl blinked, kind of impressed for a moment at what he did with the cup. Then, noticing he extended his hand, she jolted out of that daze. "Oh! Thanks." She smiled, but first noticed the book he dropped. "Um, looks like I made you drop this..." Before she closed the book, she placed its attached bookmark ribbon between a random pair of pages. Cradling the book in her left arm, she placed her right hand in his and allowed herself to be helped up.
"An exsphere? don't tell me your thinking of using these after everything that has happened" Lloyd replied eyeballing the exsphere.
~
The two figures were inside on the upper level of the building, one was cloaked man while another was a young woman dressed in noble clothing
"Looks like the festivities are about to start"
"and I see the target, this is going to be fun"
the woman licked her lips in anticipation
"please try not to hurt anyone this time, the is just a retrieval job" the cloaked man pleaded
the woman sighed
"fine we'll do this the BORING way"
she said as she started down the stairs, the man watching from above.
Zelos grins and lays out several more exspheres on a table.
"Exspheres are amazing, yet frightening things. They can work miracles and give mankind strength it didn't know it had...but at a very high cost. Exspheres are made with human lives, that much you already know. However, these were not created that way."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The gray-skinned man helps the girl to her feet, while looking at her inquisitively and mumbling to himself.
"Multiple auras?...and those wings...fascinating..."
He quickly snaps himself out of it, however, and smiles at her.
You're welcome, miss. Don't worry about the book, I got what I needed out of it. Quite an interesting read, really. You got a name, Blues?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 21, 2011 6:34 pm

Colette frowned a bit as she gazed at the exspheres on the table as Zelos spoke. However, her curiosity grew more when Zelos mentioned that those particular exspheres weren't made with human lives. "If human lives weren't used, then what was used to make them?" She asked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hearing his stomach growl again, the blonde young man held his stomach with an embarrassed expression on his face. How can I work if my stomach keeps bothering me? He thought to himself as he stood near the library. He noticed on how lively the town was, but all he had on his mind was getting something to eat. However, it was an opportunity for him to snag a few things. Maybe someone here has at least a sandwich.
~
on the other side of the room the woman was casually approaching a group of nobles, her particular target was a man with a briefcase chained to his hand
She grinned as she got closer.
