It wasn't something that she would find herself wanting. There were some plants she liked but she far and away preferred meat. She might have ignored him but after using him for her own amusement, she thought she owed him a little something. She rolled one shoulder, turned, "If that's what you want, then that is what you shall have." He hoped he appreciated that. It was not too terribly often she was so easily kind.

From Water strolled past her this time, a bit annoyed that he had failed to catch a muskrat and eager to show he could catch some form of meat, even if it was just a lazy, gorged snake. Finding a target at this time of day soon proved difficult, though, as the buck, it seemed, quickly lost confidence and began to wander aimlessly up and down the streambank.

She watched him, let her gaze linger and then stray in small movements. He seemed to have little idea of what he was doing and she was torn. As amusing as it was to see him fail, it was annoying as well. Hunting was not a highly difficult task. She let her attention drift and rise into the trees. Ah.

"There," she smiled, "is one dangling there in that tree." Whether he would catch it, remained to be seen. A sidestep to the left had her wondering how he would take it if she snatched a snake for him.

From Water looked up at the snake for a long moment, shuffling his hooves. A snake in a tree wouldn't be nearly so easy to catch as a snake sunning itself on a rock, but he supposed all he really needed to do was grab it behind its head and...kill it. Carefully he crept closer to the tree. The snake was curled around a low branch that at least made it easy to reach, but he couldn't tell where its head was at. Hazarding a guess, he reached out and grabbed the snake, but much to his annoyance he'd gotten hold of its midsection instead, and the creature was flailing around wildly from between his jaws. The buck gave it a good shake to stun it, dropped it onto a nearby rock, and finished it off with a blow from one hoof.

"There," he said while he wiped his hoof off on a patch of grass. "Dinner. Would you, ah, care for some?"

It was far from graceful and it only proved further that he had no skill as a hunter. Still he recovered nicely. He must survive on luck and vegetation -- anyone could catch a mouthful of that.

"Very good," she told him, the scale of judgement was clearly much lower for him. If she had caught a snake in such a manner, she'd only think herself pitiful. She blinked, well that was new. "Oh, I couldn't possibly but what a lovely offer," she replied. She hated eating with others.

"I insist, mizz Lull," From Water said, carefully dividing the snake in two with one hoof and pushing the tail end in her direction.

"Unless you...wanted something else?" He raised a scaly brow in a fashion that could have been suggestive. Clearly dealing with ladies was not his strong point either.

Well if he insisted -- she supposed she had to bow to that. He likely meant it as a kind gesture, a thank you or reward. It would hardly ruin her appetite and doubtful it would deter her from finding much more satisfying prey. Already she found her mind sussing out exactly what she wanted for her next meal until her concentration was shattered.

She looked up at the buck, confused. She had assumed he was speaking of a meal but a look at his face made her believe that was erroneous of her. The arch of one brow made him look inquiring and yet really he looked perhaps even more confused. Was it a -- extremely -- poor attempt at hitting on her?

"No, I think this is just fine," she replied, voice soothing. Although now she really didn't want to eat the snake at all. Maybe she could take it to her hound as a treat.

From Water shrugged and didn't press the point, finally giving in to his rumbling stomach and tearing into the snake instead.

Well he seemed quite unbothered. That was good at least.

The doe lowered her head and let her teeth sink into the snake's flesh. Rather than eat it there, she lifted her head and with a mere flick settled the gifted half around her neck. "I really must be going. My hound mustn't be left alone too long," she offered.

She moved away in a leisurely manner and was already letting her mind stray back to hunting. However she did pause, turning her head to look back at him, long enough to toss back a faint, "Perhaps I'll see you again." Or maybe not. She really wasn't bothered either way.
