Kileu Most definetly, I agree with what you guys are saying. (going more off topic) Gigs and shows are nice, but playing by yourself when you are all alone is just plain awesome. Just you and the guitar becoming one...yeah sounds corny, but I'm sure you've all felt it XD But there does come a time when the only thing you can do to branch out musically (MUSICALLY not TECHNICALLY) is to play with others. I'm a prime example - I have just about exhausted my musical limits playing alone, and am looking for others to jam with. Its just one of those things, ya know? Maybe someday I'll want just me and my guitar again, who knows?

For me, I've always wanted to play in a band, but I've learnt that I need to improve much more so yes being in a band or jamming with people is a big goal of mine, but at the same time, so is getting damn better. And both can be good. Playing alone, improving yourself, exercising your skill. Playing with people, getting that awesome feeling when the song sounds really good. But playing with other people can also be very frustrating.

I've taught a lot of the kids who used to play in my school, and there was the posers and the passionate kids and stuff... But it's all about expressing yourself, man. A guitar can be an extra vocal chord, or a tool (for some people an erotic stimulant to the opposite sex), but it doesn't matter, as long as the guitar is making someone happy (either the listener or the player) it's all cool. I like to write my own stuff and bring it to the table of my band, MK-NAOMI, and we'll jam it out and see how stuff works out. I'm more of a rythm guitar/map-out leads kind of guy, not so good at improvising right on the spot. You can learn stuff from other guys' style. I'm more of a prog-metal head, and the other guitarist on my band is a straight up blues player, we mesh together and WHOA! I've cried from straight bliss dude I swear to God.

bambulus If they're posers, then ******** 'em.
But if they're people who honestly want to better themselves, then I think they need support, not ridicule. Here Here. I hate people who obviuoslly suck yet think they're better than...Jimmie Hendrix...or someone... I'll help someone if they need it but if they think they're better off without it fine. Their problem.

I would just stay away from them if they are playing like crap. Usually if you try to just kill someone for not being as good as you, you are being a real idiot. You tend to forget that everyone sucked at one time or another, and just because your better doesn't mean that you have to get mad at them for it.

why don't you do just that? but you could teach them to if they're not so weird then you'd be seen as the best guitarist

Snake_101 At my school, there are 5 guitar players. I am better than all of them. Whenever I see them play, it makes me want to run up to them and take the guitar out of their hands and start playing! How about you? Does that piss you off? I don't want to be mean, but it sounds like you have anger issues. I could understand if the kids are assholes, but I don't know that. I know I'm not the best in my school, but I don't wag my finger in other kids faces because I'm better than them. (At guitar of course)
