Laughing softly, Xiu took another careful sip of her tea before sighing. "This kind of stuff is never easy," She agreed, grimacing slightly. She certainly hoped that, as Shun had said, her friends would understand her decision. She didn't want to hurt anyone, but...goodness, she just wasn't ready for this yet.

After swallowing another piece of sushi, the Baku grinned. "Took me long enough to figure this out. Now I just need to...talk to them. Do you think I should talk to them together, or one at a time?" That was the main problem that was dwelling on her mind right now. After she got over that hurdle, she would just have to work up the guts to call them and ask to meet with them.

Xiu stopped eating for a moment to look at Shun curiously, remembering how he had been having his own problems even before hers began. Putting down her chopsticks, the ghoul leaned forward and tilted her head. "How have you been lately, aniki?"

"Kill two birds with one stone. Why not?" Shun shrugged rather impassively, "Saves you a bit of time and maybe they'll realize they don't have to strangle each other over you right then and there."

When she shot a question back at him, his gaze lifted up from his food towards the Baku. Quite frankly, his situation hadn't really improved a whole lot. The... 'date' was ticking closer and the pressure of time wasn't helping with much of anything.

"More or less the same," he said quietly, "Perhaps things will clear up for me within the next few days or so. We'll have to see about that, though."

That was a good point. She wasn't sure how the two were doing right now--the last time she had seen them together was at the booth, and they had been fairly cold to one another then--but her main priority was to make sure that their friendship was still intact. "I...I'll call them and set a date, then."

She frowned slightly at Shun's answer, her ears drooping. She wasn't very clear on what was bothering him, but..."A few days, huh? ...I hope things clear up for you by then, aniki." Speaking of a few days, wasn't the Love Squad's D-Day--as in "Date Day"--coming up soon? Perhaps that could cheer Shun up and help him forget his problems for a bit?

If only she knew.

"How's Bent-Tail?" Xiu piped up suddenly, her expression brightening. She was awfully fond of the little mouse. "And how is...u-uh...Arkham?" ...Okay, so she was possibly a little less fond of the other mini, but only because it unnerved her.

The worse that could happen with what he said, Shun supposed, was that the two boys took it really poorly and started to try and kill each other anyway. It didn't seem too probable, but it wasn't necessarily an impossible scenario.

"That would be most ideal," he said quietly in regards to clearing his feelings up. Taking that day on while still confused as all hell didn't seem to be the greatest idea. But it wasn't something he could put off for until he did clear things up. He still didn't really know how to feel about being set up to this too, which did not help much at all.

"They're both doing fine. Arkham is still a little unruly but he grows more obedient with each day."

As she bit into another piece of sushi, the Baku mulled over the fact that it seemed a lot of people had their own issues lately. She supposed that it was normal for people to have worries, but...well, she certainly hoped that Shun overcame his. Xiu wasn't sure what kind of situation it had to be for it to plague the reaper's mind.

"Oh, that's good! ...When did you get Arkham, anyways?" She didn't recall seeing the mini until...well, that night when she went to talk to Shun about her dream diving. And of course, Arkham hadn't been particularly happy to be in her presence at that point (probably because Shun wasn't very pleased either).

Setting down her chopsticks, the Baku suddenly stood up. "I made some matcha dessert too." And that, she was confident in.

"That ball I got from the pet store the day you got Arashi wasn't a normal ball it seemed," he explained while looking up towards the Baku. He hadn't expected it to happen, but there was no getting rid of Arkham now. The organoid made a fairly decent guardian of his room anyway. Bent-Tail was a little too kind.. not to mention a little too small to really be able to do anything about potential intruders.

"Oh? What sort of matcha dessert?" he asked. Shun knew there were a few different ways to prepare that after all. It could be taiyaki, mochi, or some other thing for all he knew.

Aah, that explained a lot. The Baku had the same train of thought as Shun--at least Arkham seemed as if he would be a good guard. He seemed fairly loyal from what she could see the last time she visited, at least.

"Oh! Um, I made some small, individual matcha mousse cakes." She figured that a light and not very sweet dessert would have made a good match with the sushi, so she had opted for the mousse cake. "I'll go get them."

She hurried off to the kitchen, and when she returned, she was carrying two small plates with little forks set on them. On each plate sat a small, but fairly elaborate, little cake, topped with cream, a berry, and a decorative piece of chocolate. Xiu grinned sheepishly as she set one of the plates down in front of Shun.

One look at the cake, and it was clear she spent far too much time on baking.

"Sounds good," Shun nodded before taking his tea and drinking the rest of it. When he finished, he let out a breath, waiting patiently for Xiu to return. In the meantime, he patted Arashi on the head. It.. was too bad that Ziggy couldn't be as well-mannered. He was going to have to try and find some way to help Mitsu out with that cat.

When the Baku returned, he looked at the cakes. For their size, they were pretty damn elaborate.

Raising an eyebrow, he took the fork and went to give the cake a try. There was a small pause before he looked up at Xiu.

"This is... really good.."

Xiu was clearly pleased by the compliment, her tail wagging enthusiastically as she took a bite of her own piece of the cake. "Matcha desserts are my favourite," She confessed, grinning, "So I've had much more experience with making matcha sweets than any other dessert. Do you like them too?" The slight bitterness was always a lot more appealing to her than overly sweet and sugary desserts. It was a little more subtle, and didn't give her the urge to go and brush her teeth immediately afterward.

As she enjoyed another forkful of the cake, the Baku peered over the table at Shun quietly, her tail slowly swishing back and forth as she thought. "Hey, aniki? Um...thanks for dropping by today." A couple of months ago, the Baku would never have expected to be friends with--or adopt--the impassive reaper.

...Probably because their first main encounter had him colliding into her.

"I don't mind them," Shun replied. As with other sweets, he didn't generally eat it a whole lot. But matcha flavored things were nice to have now and then. Quietly, he continued to eat his cake, enjoying it as he did. When Xiu spoke up again, he glanced up to her, staring for the moment.

There was a short pause before he nodded to her.

"Don't thank me," he said, "I just... thought it would be good to check up on you."

Placing his plate down, he ran his hand through his hair and let out a sigh.

"This school.. certainly has called for some unusual actions on my part.."

Xiu had a bite halfway to her mouth when Shun sighed. Looking puzzled, she lowered her hand and titled her head questioning at the reaper. "What do you mean by that, aniki?"

She could...kind of understand what he meant. After all, she hadn't quite expected to know as many people as she did, or even humour the idea of co-running a club with anyone else. But now...after a few months in Amityville, here she was with both of those things.

Of course, Shun wasn't really shy (the thought made Xiu suppress a giggle) so he must have meant something different. With a little consideration, she had a hunch what these so called unusual actions were though. Taking her bite of cake, Xiu chewed it thoughtfully. "Is it a bad thing, though?".

The Reaper didn't answer right away as he thought things over, having a little bit of a distant look in his eyes as he quietly mulled to himself.

"I really never looked out for other people unless I had to," he explained, "I didn't have friends. And I just didn't care."

These were just a few of the things that had changed since his enrollment to Amity. Pausing there, he looked over at the Baku, shrugging.

"Sometimes I think it's not so bad. Others times I don't know. I do have to wonder if it's just me getting soft..."

Considering what his past was like--what she knew of it, anyways--it wasn't too surprising that Shun would have mixed feelings about this whole thing. Smiling, Xiu finished off the last of her cake, her tail swishing back and forth contentedly. "I wouldn't call it getting soft. You're just opening yourself up to a few people, is all." And really, she didn't see any harm in that.

"No one is here to judge you, after all." Aside from that teachers, of course, but that was more so on the scale of scariness, not openness or compassion. Standing up, she gathered up the empty plates and cups and brought them into the kitchen. Leaving it in the sink for now, she poked her head out of the kitchen area with a grin.

"Besides, aren't you enjoying yourself at Amity? It's kind of nice living by yourself."

To Xiu's response, Shun didn't say anything, but he was considering it. That was possible, he supposed. Though, he was having a hard time differentiating the two things. He was aware that by caring about certain people, others could probably easily use that against him. The Reaper had seen it happen to other individuals after all. Using a loved one as bait more or less. That didn't really seem like a good thing to him.

At her question though, he looked up and thought it over.

"Well it is better here than at home," he replied, "I can say that much for sure."

Xiu was happy to be away from home--though she did miss her uncle, his minis, and her garden--but she was sure that Shun's reason was...a little different from simply wanting a more independence. If his dreams had been any indication, at least. She closed her eyes as she considered this fact, and then she smiled.

"Well, I can kind of understand the dangers of having friends, but it's nice not being alone." She had heard plenty of strange rumours from some of the students who had been here for a while (and who had been on...trips of some kind? She wasn't entirely sure) but...heck. What was the chance of their circle of friends ever getting thrust into a dangerous situation?

Walking over to the reaper, the little Baku gave him an affectionate pat on the head. "I, for one, am happy that I came to Amityville."
