Herryk nodded, beaming at Lattice. "Herryk has heard of this 'Groan-sprink' but he is not sure how to use the computers. Perhaps it is worth learning more about," he shrugged, watching Lattice closely. She seemed to really enjoy wearing the cape. He had a few others at home relatively similar to this one -- the clasps were easily undone so that if one was soiled he could switch to another.

"Herryk would be ... " his voice clogged with emotion. Don't cry, Herryk. Don't cry, " ... so thankful if Lattice would help him understand these runes." He would be so thankful that... well...

"To show Herryk's gratitude, Lattice must keep the cape." He grinned brightly, holding a hand up to silence any words she might speak at that moment, "It is a gesture of friendship. Lattice has offered to help Herryk with so many, many things and it is only right that the kindness is returned."

If she didn't take the cape now, it was likely that she would find it hanging on her dorm doorknob soon enough.

Lattice giggled slightly and nodded a bit, "I have heard of it as well, but I mean a handwritten note. I cannot see computer screens so I have not bothered with the whole ordeal. I encourage you to learn more about them if it interests you, though. Then you can tell me about it."

The ghoul heard the emotion clog his voice but stayed quiet so he could get out what he needed to she started to protest but he stopped her with a gesture a bit of a tinge built up on her cheeks as a hand reached up to touch at the furred cape as she walked with him. It was touching that he would give her the cape! So touching. Lattice vowed that no one else will ever wear this cape now that it was hers but with only a small exception going toward her Sister but that was because she loved Needle so dearly. "Thank you, Herryk. I'll treasure it always," she responded quietly. It was obvious that she adored Herryk just simply because he did all these kind gestures for her and they'd just met.

Luckily she simply accepted the gift presented to her leaving no argument to be had.

"Herryk, would you have some tea with me one day?" She asked quietly.

Herryk looked thoughtful for a long moment, contemplating Lattice's gesture of friendship. He'd never had tea before, but the prospect of spending more time with a new friend excited him. "Lattice is welcome, and Herryk would love to have some tea with Lattice some day." He couldn't even imagine what tea would taste like or if there might be some secret ritual that was involved.

He was pleased that she encouraged him to learn more about his runes. They did interest him a lot, but he'd had no idea where to start looking. "Maybe we can go to the library so that Lattice can help Herryk with his runes." A library made more sense to Herryk anyway -- he was not very technologically savvy, not at all.

"Herryk is very glad to have Lattice as a friend," he said quietly, reaching for Lattice's hand so that he could continue guiding her through the maul. They'd made good time and were nearly at the end.

Lattice had become rather comfortable in her brand new cloak by now as she walked with her friend, "Good maybe we can have tea together with my seamstress friend, her name is Lizzy she is very sweet," the Engraver chattered happily at her large friend she'd gotten rather comfortable around Herryk after their initial meeting but then again you can't touch a boil's abs and clothing without becoming rather comfortable with them.

"Yes Library would be best," She giggled slightly as she walked with him, "especially since books have print in them and print is in ink."

Beautiful, beautiful ink.

She let him take her hand, "I am glad to have you as a friend as well, Herryk. You are a very wonderful boil." Lattice praised easily as she walked with him. Granted she didn't get to really see what stores were around them she was too busy enjoying Herryk's company.

"Herryk is looking forward to meeting Lizzy. Herryk hopes she is as nice and sweet as Lattice is." He didn't feel embarrassed about speaking so bluntly when talking to Lattice. He just felt utterly comfortable around her, despite having met her not long ago. There was just something about her that made him feel at ease. It also helped that she was not afraid to compliment him, either.

Herryk wasn't really paying attention to where they were walking, and when they reached the end of the maul he simply guided her in a wide circle so that they were headed the way they'd come.

"Herryk has not yet visited the library," he said quietly, patting her hand. "We should meet there in a few days. Herryk will bring Nanna so that Lattice can meet her." This thought made him smile brightly. If Lattice so loved the cape, she would adore his sweet Nanna.

Lattice nodded a bit, "She is very sweet. Lizzy sat with me when I was lonely and I first came to the school, she wasn't afraid to hold my hand or anything. She is very wonderful," the ghoul chattered on with a small smile. "I think that as long as you are a good soul she is good with you."

"Yes, in a few days you and I will go to the library," she promised quietly as they walked along feeling nice and comfortable in her newly acquired cape. Lattice gazed up toward Herryk, "And maybe then on the same day we could meet with Lizzy for a bit. We shall see, hm?"

Lattice's comment about a 'good soul' gave Herryk pause, and a stoic expression crept over his face. He wasn't sure what one would deem a 'good soul' -- Herryk tried to be a nice boil and he usually was when his competitive nature didn't get in his way. He had no family that he knew of but he loved his many foxfires and his dragons and his Snorri too. Maybe that made him a 'good soul' -- he really didn't know, but it was something to mentally chew on, as it was.

"That sounds very nice, Lattice," Herryk agreed, patting her hand as gently as he could. "Herryk looks forward to that day very much." Maybe he would bring her some spookies too. Everyone liked spookies, right?

All Lattice knew was that she was already very fond of Herryk and thus to her he was a very good soul indeed. She nodded quietly at his words and simply responded, "So do I." The Engraver looked forward to spending more time with Herryk he was a very comforting boil to be around. He was very straight forward with her and kind that was all she needed to like him.

As their steps brought them around to more familiar territories Lattice gazed around and recognized some of the shapes that she had made out to be landmarks and there was a small cant of her head before she uttered a quiet giggle feeling quite silly. Gently she tugged at his hand, "Herryk," she began her lips turned upward more than usual due to her amusement, "we haven't gone to any stores nor have we decided which to go to."

She'd been so wrapped up in knowing more about Herryk that she'd forgotten the initial purpose of their union!

"I will pick the first store to visit and then you pick the next, is that alright?" Lattice asked quietly though with her it'd be random pointing unless the shop sign had ink on it.

Herryk glanced around them, his bright blue eyes widening as he realized that Lattice was correct: they had come full circle in the maul without once discussing a single store that they'd passed. This simple realization caused the Draugr to laugh robustly, white teeth flashing.

"Lattice is right," he said ruefully, still grinning at his companion. How could he have forgotten to point out various stores? He'd been so intent on learning more about Lattice and her reasons for being in the maul, and then the topic of Lizzy came up, and tea, and the runestones, and...

"That sounds like a good idea," he conceded with mirth, squeezing her hand warmly. "Herryk will tell Lattice anything she wants to know about the stores." His impressions would probably be skewed, but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

The fact that Herryk laughed so made Lattice laugh even more in response though not as loud and robustly but it certainly was a lot for the Engraver! She calmed down slowly waning down into giggles as she nodded a bit at her larger companion as she squeezed his hand lightly in return. Being linked like this with him wasn't wrong for her at all. She gazed around a little bit thoughtfully before she pointed over to a shop at random since she couldn't quite see any signs.

"That one?" She asked as she pointed at the entry of a shop called Cold Topic. Strange music came from it and the atmosphere was strange almost 'normal' looking. It seemed like an odd fashion statement for rebellious youths.

The shop sold various clothing, posters, and other things for the youth that wanted to be 'edgier' than their adult counterparts.

Herryk had been to Cold Topic previously. He didn't understand much of the edgy witticisms and pictures that were displayed on the various t-shirts therein. He hadn't made a purchase there before, but hey, there was a first time for everything, wasn't there? Maybe he could buy something for Tess or Jove, or even Lattice if he saw something that struck him.

"Off we go," he chuckled, leading Lattice over to the storefront. Throughout the duration of their encounter, he'd been very careful of her needly-spines. He wasn't really afraid of impaling himself on them, but he was wary of them snapping off or something equally terrifying. Once they reached the door, Herryk let Lattice pass through first.

"Is dark in here," he mumbled, peering around. Resting a hand on Lattice's lower back (his intention only to guide her carefully through the store), Herryk continued with, "and the music is not very pleasant." He didn't want to ruin the experience for Lattice, though, so soon after he kept his mouth closed when it came to sour opinions.

Lattice wandered through the door ahead of Herryk though she paused a moment so that the larger boil could still be nearby. Not that being separated would be a huge issue, Cold Topic was rather small and crowded with various clothes, posters, and various other little mishmash of things that would cause parents of teenagers to just suddenly want to get gray hair (or fur or even scales).

She nodded a bit as she wandered around quietly picking up a couple of items and then setting them right back down because she couldn't find a use for them nor did they appeal to her own aesthetics. Lattice uttered a small sigh at the music and looked up at Herryk, "I am ready to change shops already," she said simply. She didn't enjoy this one at all.

"Your turn to pick one," Lattice reminded her larger companion as she waited for him to lead the way out of the den of teenaged 'rebellion' against Halloween Norms.

There was a store just a few doors down that had caught Herryk's attention a few times throughout his visits to the maul. He hadn't really gone into the store -- it looked rather tiny, and he really didn't have anyone that he would write to.

Ink & Blotters.

He thought that Lattice would enjoy the store in part because of the inks that it had resting on the shelves. There were various colors and pigments along with different pens. Herryk didn't even like writing, but because of the inks that the store sold, it was going to be his number one suggestion.

"Over here," he said with a smile in his voice, grasping her hand once more and slowly walking with her over to the shop. It was likely that she could see it, for all Herryk knew, but the boil didn't mind. He liked being able to help her (even if she didn't need it). "It is called Ink & Blotters, Lattice."

Lattice quietly nodded as she let him grasp her hand, her pale fingertips quietly wrapping around the portion of his palm as she moved to follow him willingly. Herryk at this point could probably lead her to a garbage dump and she'd probably enjoy it on some level as long as he stayed nearby. His presence was quickly becoming one of the most comforting one for the Engraver.

"I went into a similar store once, but their selection was somewhat poor but I got to meet a boil named Mot there. He was very polite." She murmured softly, "I hope the selection at Ink and Blotters is better, the store I visited had some rather poor quality things..."

Watery inks, it almost felt like the poor ink was drowning within itself. Once within the shop with Herryk she took the lead moving to guide her larger friend toward the display of ink and pens since that selection was most 'lit up' to her vision.

"I think I shall write many notes for you," she said sounding almost cheerful, "or maybe draw you nice things. Would you enjoy that?"

Herryk chuckled, placing a palm at Lattice's lower back as someone moved behind them. He didn't want Lattice to take a step back and stumble. At her cheerful tone, Herryk grinned a wide grin.

"Herryk would like that very much," he said solemnly. "Herryk knows that students get in trouble for certain things, but perhaps someday Lattice would mark Herryk?" His tone was inquisitive, mostly, but he couldn't help asking. It was an innocent offer, "Just so Lattice can find Herryk... if she needs him, even if it is just a little ink on his shoulder or neck." Whether or not such an offer was a huge deal to the Engraver, Herryk didn't know, but he very much liked protecting the smaller, petite ghoul.

It felt nice.

"Does Lattice see anything she likes?"
