Shilo grinned once more before taking a bite and chewing it in thought before swallowing it. "How about you? Any kids? herd? anything?" It was small talk but sometimes small talk was what you needed to go through when possibly making a new friend.
Having her fill on grass, she finished off what was in her mouth before flopping in the grass in a way that was most unbecoming of a female. Stifling a small yawn she lazily watched her father and the mare converse. he late nights staying up and watching the sun set waiting for Cedric to show up were some times taxing on her energy and a full stomach often lead to a lazy nap in the sun for her.
Binky giggles and tail up in the air like a brightly colored flag, she followed the bird. "They work for helping me get onto the fluffy one's backs... better than them picking me up... Besides.. I love catching the feesh.. Specially when Nea's there.. she eats the feesh we catch with me."

Vei blinked and raised her head to look up at the brute a little. Her eyes glanced over towards the now-lazing mare in the grass and she swallowed the clump of clovers that had been dangling from her maw, slowly, to buy herself time to think on how to answer that. "Uh... No... 'Fraid not. I uh... Don't always do well in groups... Haven't met the right stallion, either, I suppose." She shrugged and moved over a bit to munch on something a little less sweet than the clovers, feeling the paste they left on her tongue growing thicker, or was that just her nerves crawling up her throat?
The raven chuckled and nodded, smiling. "You could always bring her fish. She looks fairly content right now... perhaps you could bring her lunch, if she sleeps at all. It would be like bringing her a meal in bed."

Shilo nodded glancing down at his daughter before looking over his shoulder so as to hide his mouth from the ever prying eyes of Idonea. "Sometimes we slip up and accidents happen." It wasn't that he begrudges his daughters, but he knew that what ever he felts for their mother.. it was far from romantic. She was a friend of sorts to him.. but that could be all he could consider. "When we do.. sometimes we bring new responsibilities into our lives. Still.. Never you worry." He smiled finally turning his head back to face her, the seriousness that had just been in his voice vanishing. "I'm sure when you're time comes you'll find your place to belong even if it is all by your self. or with some stallion in which to help raise your foals. You seem fairly level headed and nice, so I'm sure you have confidence in yourself and how you lead your life... you should enjoy it and live it to it's fullest."
Idonea raised her brows curiously as her father turned his head. It seemed as though he was looking around for something. She was about to peer around his leg some in hopes of glimpsing what he was seeing, but her heavy lids and full belly were calling to her, lulling her into lucid dreams. Her lids closed and her breathing finally evened out as she dozed off for a small nap.
Binky snickered. "She tried to refrain from eating fish around her dad.. it makes him queasy that she does so.. think it's a habbit she picked up when she was a foal one day."

Vei murred softly, her own brow tilted. A glance towards the mare on the ground as she slipped off assured her there was little to be concerned about at this point. "I'm... Sure..." She muttered, a brow tilted at the stallion for his... Intriguing insight. The thought of being alone, however, was one she would not openly admit fear to. Her eyes trailed towards Idonea again, and lingered there as the mare slept. "Does that one not sleep well at night?"
The raven hummed, tilting his head and bouncing forward on the berry bush to see the raccoon better. "The eating fish is a habit or the hiding it from her father is a habit?" He had considered asking 'why would he be squeamish about fish?', but had deigned it inappropriate for the moment.

A deep warm rumbling sound of a chuckle erupted from deep in his chest. "She takes long hours.. Watching the sunset or looking from her foalhood friend who helped her when she was lost to her mother and I and lost her hearing. So it's safe to say.. that she does a lot of wandering never really staying in one spot for more than it takes to rest or nap.. at night.. she creeps in late and sleeps but as soon as the sunlight reaches our lands, she's up and off again, Binky at her hocks."
Binky laughed gleefully. "Eating fish.. it's not common among her father and tends to set him off his grass... The fact she hides it is a courtesy she gives him so that he will not fret over her."
Still she dozed, her dreams soundless as her days. Her lips formed a happy tweak at the corner as she thought of the fun she and her friends had once had.

The rusty fae hummed and tilted a brow at the mare, then rolled her eyes. "Habits like that can get a horse killed." She muttered simply, looking at the grass a moment and deciding she was full, moving off the patch a little before she'd hunker down, still close enough to the stallion for conversation. "Do you mind if I ask how she lost her hearing? It's hard to imagine." Vei wasn't used to lengthy conversations, maintaining manners, less so.
The raven hummed and nodded. "Vei eats fish." He paused. "Well... More like Vei torments and rips apart fish, then MIGHT eat some with a side of clover... Picky eater, that one." He hummed, nodding. "But I can see where it would be unusual for a one of their breed to eat fish regularly. It's good, though. It has... Er... It's good for us. Makes you and me strong, and the two-leggers eat it at their glowpiles."

Shilo frowned some. "From what her friend Amelia had relayed... she found Idonea passed out on the riverbed along side the water where the bank's still damped. Those wiggly bugs with pincers were all over the place near by.. From what she can gather.. a few got into her ears damaging them.. or she had hit her head.. either way.. neither myself or the healers could determine the cause or fix it.. She's been deaf ever since."
Nea's ear twitched idly, flicking a fly of it's tip. One eye lazily opened and looked about before shutting once more to continue her snooze..
"Nea's picky some times... though she seems to be mostly picky where other soquili are concerned.. Her friends she protects with a pasion.. It's kinda creepy some times." She snickered thinking about it some.

Vei hummed, listening curiously. Her head tilted before she gave a shrug. "Wiggly bugs with pincers?" She shuddered at the thought "That's why I stay out of places like that... Probably broke something inside." She shrugged. "So... I'll assume that... Nea, you said? Wasn't exactly... 'planned'?" She lowered her voice, as though afraid the mare could hear her, but was mostly just trying to minimize the chance she'd read her lips.
The raven chuckled. "I'd have to see Vei make a friend to know how she reacts with them. There's a temper matching that tongue..." He plucked a berry loose and flattened it in his beak to drink the juices before letting the berry itself follow them down his gullet.

Shilo nodded slightly. "She was as you put it... unplanned. Never even knew about them till her mother showed up with two fillies in tow." His face faltered slightly. it brought back memories of the last night he'd seen... her... the conversation they'd shared. The promise to meet at the next full moon, a meeting that never came to pass since she never showed.
Nea's front hooves twitched as she dreamed of running and playing in the tall grass with Amellia and Cedric and Binky.
Binky grinned wide and plucked berries off, popping them into her mouth and munching just as fast as she could pluck them off the bushes. "never know till she makes friends I guess"

Vei nodded softly, peering over at the girl curiously. "Sounds like a responsibility you weren't expecting..." She muttered, lowering her muzzle to ponder the scent of the grass at her hooves. "Or she wasn't." She muttered, unsure exactly which it was. "The other filly go with her mother, did she?"
The raven chuckled down at the rodent. "Slow down, Binks. Surely you do not wish to come away with the hiccups? The berries won't just disappear, y'know."

Shilo frowned. "Merte wanted to follow her mother where as Idonea felt closer to me.. Masika and I had agreed to give it a try for the sake of the foals.. however no matter how much we both tried.. there was just nothing there. So when the day came our girls came of age.. she felt need to return to the desert.. and I.. I stayed here with Idonea and my herd."
Waking from her nap, lazily she looked around before hauling herself back to her feet. She saw her father was doing well on his own.. but where was Binky now? Looking around, and nodded politely her excuse before wandering off to where she'd last seen the bundle or white and pink fur.
Binky laughed. Berry juice smeared on her maw as she looked at the bird. "But they're sooo good!"

Vei hummed and nodded, watching the mare wander off for a moment curiously. "Sooo... you're single, looking for your once-mate with a daughter you weren't expecting..." She muttered, looking up at the brute, trying to decide how to react to the sudden aloneness between the pair. "So... What're you hoping to find?"
The crow chuckled and nodded. "Still... Slow down a touch before you choke. I'm sure your mare would appreciate you breathing when she sees you next. Wouldn't want to leave her without a fish catcher, would you?"

Shilo chuckled lightly. had she been thinking he'd been looking for Masika all this time? " No.. I'm not looking for Masika.. It's Ali I search for..." He trailed off. "It's a rather long story." He shook his head lightly.
Idonea soon picked up on Binky's scent and followed it to her. GRinning she signaled a few things to Binky something.
Binky chuckled at the bird once more. "Nea catches fish well without me." He then looked up as she saw the signals Nea was flashing her. Laughing once more her shook her head. "I doubt it nea.. you're dad's too hung up on ali and even if he doesn't see it... he knows deep down and wouldn't let another mare distract him so."

Vei tilted her head up at the stallion. ~A new name? Why are there so many names with this one? Is that what happens in a herd?~ She rumbled out a fluttered knicker. "Ali?" She guessed this must be the long story mentioned, as there wasn't much else it could be. "Well, we have time. The ra-" She had to catch herself again. "Raccoon is occupied and miss Idonea appears to have run off to find him." She hummed, looking up at the brute. "Don't have to say if you don't want, of course." She shrugged and idly nipped at some of the grass surrounding her curled frame.
The bird listened curiously to Binky, reminding himself that Nea's half of the conversation was silent for a lack of ability. The bird straightened himself as much as he could before offering a low bow, folding one wing accross his chest. "Vei will have given up already She took the stallion's avoidance of her nudge as a lack of interest. I'd doubt if she'd try to force any of that."

Shilo took a deep breath and let it out. He'd already had to explain once this month to a stallion.. what was just another soul? "Ali... is my best friend... The first true friend I gained upon reaching these lands. It wasn't til the night I learned of my daughter's existence that things went awry, and wound up.... missing. I had been on my way to tell my herd leader the news that Masika and the foals would be occupying a spot on the edge of the herd lands so that I could be in their lives and be the father.. mine never had been. yet.. another long story. It was then that Ali came down from the sky to see meet and chat, we'd been planning on meeting again and in the confusion and excitement.. I'd forgotten till she showed up. Upon learning I had foals of my own she seemed.. happy, encouraging that I wasn't the failure my thoughts had me to believe. Which really who could blame anyone for thinking I was just some daft stallion without a care of the feelings of others just spreading his seed willy nilly. " He furrowed his brow once more.
"Truthfully... what had happened had been because both Masika and I had been caught up in a cave waiting out a blizzard that had hit. Some where along the way one thing led to another and I'm sure you can guess what happened." He huffed a small breath wondering how to continue on. "Ali gave me reassurance.. and we had agreed to meet again at the next full moon so that she could meet my daughters.. only.. she never showed. I've worried about her since.. she may talk tough but when you get past that barrier she uses to protect herself, she's a ferry nice mare, fun loving too. My biggest fear is... that something's happened to her. which is why.. I've been looking for her hoping she'll turn up some day." He cut off. He didn't need to say any more. It was apparent that his feelings for this mare had grown far past friendship these past years.
Idonea had a bit of a hard time reading the bird's beak.. but Binky was there to help her with subtle signs. Shrugging she looked over her shoulder before lowering her head to the two familiars. "Either way.. I think it's alright for me to let them alone for a while.. He needs to discuss some things.. get them out of his mind." She chuckled a warm sound that rang deep from within and reached her eyes.
Binky patted Nea on the nose and sighed. "It's obvious to everyone around him how he feels for Ali... and I think.. he might have gotten an idea recently... he seems to be more emotionally tortured lately."
