I for one like reading the books "backwards" it feels more close to reading Japanese mangas, and I thought that Guardian should have been Soldier, but I kind of like Guardian too, and if Naoko wanted it like that I am perfectly okay with it.

It doesn't roll off the toung as well, but I think Guardian Fits better. They don't run around waging wars. They just defend 99% of the time.

I might still have to get these, but it'll be rough going. With Foo Fighters, Smackdown, and the Birthday Bash coming up soon, plus Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Mass Effect 3 left to pay off, and the added problems of needing to get a leather-bound copy of To Kill a Mockingbird, Starfox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D, Mario Galaxy, and Mario Galaxy 2... Well, needless to say, I already have a lot of stuff coming up that'll eat away my funds from both jobs. And that's not even including bills.

Sailor Shiva I'm always surprised that when they do the English translations, they don't flip the pages for easier reading for western readers. It's not like this was a rush job and they didn't have time... its been over a decade xD. The reason that they don't flip the pages is because they want to remain true to the original Japanese art and its intentions. Characters all become left-handed in flipped versions, important signs, words and symbols are flipped backwards...it's just a mess. Jot to mention that all the characters wearing kimonos now look like they are going to a funeral! I personally like the right-to-left format a lot better, and I think it is actually easier to read and easier to handle. And I am right-handed. Well, actually, I am ambidextrous. In fact, some of my family members who don't read manga actually say that right-to-left feels easier in their hands as well.

Houou does have a point about right to left. . . there is a natural feel to it.

HououMinamino I was at first opposed to "Senshi" being translated as "Guardian," but then I realized that on the cover of the Japanese manga, It says "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" in English above the Japanese "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon," so I think that it is possibly how Takeuchi-sama herself wanted it to be translated, or at least the people who put out the original manga. They only did that because at that time when the Manga was being reprinted and stuff in Japan the live action series was being aired. Other then that, it probably would have stayed its original Pretty Soldier Sailor Sailor Moon.. I need to hit the bookstore asap to buy both copies.

I am aware of that. *Nod* Though "guardian" isn't too bad--I mean, it's their job to protect, and that's what a guardian does, so... Maybe the translator also thought that "soldier" would sound too belligerent, and decided to go with how it was translated on the Japanese cover for that reason as well?

Technically, 'senshi' can be translated as both 'guardian' and 'soldier', hence the "Pretty Soldier of the Moon" quote Usagi's fond of...

It can be translated either way. But personally i think guardian fits better.. at least for the good guys. Maybe they shoulda just used Senshi. We all know what it means. xD

It spans from slightly before Serenity to about 6 months after, telling different stories. One of them, Shepherd's Tale, gives an in depth look at Shepherd's past and how he came to be on Serenity. Another, Float Out, gives better insight into Wash's past.
