◦ Curious: Follows Chalk is extremely curious about other kin and the way they live. He wants to know everything there is about the swamp and its creatures.
◦ Persistent: Once he's got his mind made up, it takes a lot to get him to change it. This also goes for tasks that he's begun, and it's what makes his long tracking sprees so successful.
◦ Good-natured: Conflict isn't really in Follows Chalk's nature. He will rarely do anything he thinks will spark an argument or upset somebody, and when he does get into fights, he typically takes a defensive position.

◦ Headstrong: Long Away typically does her own thing and isn't easily influenced by others. The serious exception to this is her father- she's named herself his traveling companion, and will usually defer to him about their direction.
◦ Impetuous: Where her father measures twice, Long Away cuts once. She tends to act quickly and decisively, and rarely stops to rethink herself.
◦ Wanderlusty: Long Away thirsts for the world and wants to see all of it before her eventual return to the Motherfather.

◦ Protective: A real mama bear of a doe, she's incredibly protective of those she loves- which is amusing because for the most part they are all a lot bigger than she is. Don't tell them- she certainly won't- but she worries about them a lot.
◦ Straightforward: Honesty is Bloody Tears's cardinal virtue; she holds it above bravery and loyalty, for if you are not honest, then how can anything about you be trusted?
