Jett's lip twitched. "Nothing. I don't like them is all. But don't go to Aquarius any time soon, all right? I got the impression it'd be a nice place to go spend some time. It seemed like it would be the place to be--information outpost? That's what they advertised it as, and that sounded pretty good. I figured it'd be nice to be where all the information was. Maybe get some answers. But. No," he rolled his eyes. "I wasn't there for a single night before s**t hit the fan."

He seemed a bit exasperated. "A girl and I--Raven, I don't know if you know her--ran into some giant salamanders. So, if you see one, tell me. I popped out one's eyes. I don't imagine he's really happy with me. And I popped the other one's, I don't know, glowing wart. But I'm not sure that was a good thing. Look, the point is, if you see a salamander, just--don't go near it. All right? I just woke up, I'd really rather not take another three day nap."

Eric repressed the urge to frown.

"Right, I will definately do so. But uh, at least you gave em a good fight, eh? Sounds like you at least did some damage on the way down."

He cast a wary glance around. He wasnt sure how he felt about this new development.

"Damn straight," Jett answered firmly as he continued to pace; he thought he glimpsed the Mirror Pools in the distance and was overcome with a slight sense of trepidation; he no longer had the urge to stop and poke around, so he instead just kept his eyes focused on the path before him.

He wasn't going to go down without a fight; there was no way in hell. Even if those bastards had eaten him, he'd have fought right up until the end.

Changing the subject, he asked, "Is this your first time going to Leo or have you been there before?"

"Uh, no its my first time leaving Virgo since we all arrived, I was dropped rather close to here and didn't think it was a good idea to poke around."

He got a glimpse of the mirror pools again.

"Oh look at that! That looks bloody marvelous!"

He seemed really excited. All his worries about what was happening to them momentarily set aside, he stood up on his tip toes to get a better look for a moment.

"Oh we simply have to take a look at that while we pass it!"

...No. No, they didn't. In fact, Jett seemed rather put off by them. They looked nothing like how they had been in his dream. He decided to try and bargain with Eric. "I'll tell you what. How about we skip them for now, and come back after we've eaten. Fair? Because, right now, if I don't get something in my stomach I'm going to go after the first thing I find. And, since I don't see any space turnips right now," he slowly glanced at Eric. "That makes you first up on the menu."

"Oh all right, mr grumpy. We can check them out on the way back. I can understand if your frightened."

He gently nudged the other man in the ribs with a joking smile.

"Maybe well get something to defend ourselves while were there, or one of these sushi people."

Not particularly pleased with the title of ‘Mr Grumpy,’ Jett wasn’t entirely sure how to react when he was jabbed in the ribs. It didn’t hurt, but certainly surprised him a bit. “First things first, I am not frightened,” he growled. “I’d just rather eat. Second, what the hell is a sushi person?”

Suddenly this was sounding a bit more cannibalistic than he’d intended.

"These magic people that keep running around. They call themselves "Sushi of this or sushi of that."

In his scottish accent, the word sushi does sound somewhat similar to senshi.

"I honestly dont get it, they must rever uncooked meat for some reason."

He shrugged.

"It wouldnt be the weirdest thing to happen here."

Sushi? What the hell—sushi?

…Oh. Oh, he meant ‘senshi’.

“…Yeah,” Jett said slowly after a moment, not quite sure if he should correct the male or let him go along with his blunder. Eh. It wasn’t really worth the effort. “…Well. I guess we’ll just wait and see,” he said indifferently; he didn’t particularly care about the senshi’s diet, all he was thinking about was the best way to not become a part of some space creature’s.

The Mirror Pools were in clear sight, but Jett kept his eyes focused and walked at a slightly brisker pace past them. The hair on the back of his neck had bristled, though there was no logical reason for such sans reflection of the strange dream he’d had.

Leo’s Outpost had to be right ahead; he didn’t remember it being too far ahead after this. Which was good, considering that his stomach was roaring again.

“…I’d take some uncooked meat right about now,” he admitted. “…Much rather a steak, though. Hell, I’d take a granola bar. I don’t really care. I want to get home.”

In a moment of weakness, Jett’s arrogant, strong exterior slipped away and he voiced something that had been nagging at him. “…I need to check on my mom. She’s probably worrying herself to death.”

He was gonna make a remark about food when Jett mentioned him mother.

"Oh right, your mums probably right worried about ya now, weve been gone for a good bit. You could probably ask one of the sushi to bring her a message, ye know, and let her know youre... well..."

He wasn't sure what he would say to his own mother if he could get a message to her. Hi Im safe, trapped in space with giant space salamanders that want to make me snack. But safe.

Still, it didnt much matter, not hearing from Eric would be more of the same for his mom. He'd have to make sure to get a message out to her when next he spoke to one of the sushi.

"That your safe. You are, I mean, people have gotten hurt thus far but its not like anyone's died or anything."

“…Yeah. Right,” Jett rolled his eyes. “Like some stranger in a costume knocking on her door to deliver a message that says, ‘Hey, doin’ fine, just in space having the time of my life,’ is going to work? …No way. My mom’s one of those people who,” he let out a slightly agitated huff. “…She’s gotta see you in person to know you’re okay.”

And it was his own fault she was like that. She didn’t like him boxing; she knew he didn’t always make it out without a few scuffs and scrapes. He’d made the mistake of telling her the lie, ‘I’m fine,’ too many times for her not to be suspicious.

“…I just want to get out of this place. She’s probably already given herself an ulcer or something. Which—by the way—is not good for her health. And I swear to God, if she gets sicker because of this, ugh.”

The Mirror Pools were behind them and it might have been his mind playing tricks on him, but he could have sworn he caught a whiff of food. “…The point is, a letter would make her suspicious. I never write letters. Emails, sure. I email a lot. Mom learned how to use a computer just so she could keep up with me.”

He’d never dream to make her master the sort of phone he had; it was a miniature computer in itself, and if she couldn’t handle the easy stuff, there was no way in hell he was going to try and force all the extra stuff on her.

It had been what—three days? Four? Damn, he didn’t even know. “…She’ll be fine. I just don’t want her to think I ran out on her or something,” he said, bitterness creeping into his voice.

Eric nodded.

"Im sure she will. And well all be out of here soon. Somehow."

It occured to him that, though he made that assertion, they were no closer to getting back to Destiny city then when they arrived. Sure, theyd survived a bunch of giant space monster attacks, but they really had no plan for how to get back.

"You know, I wonder where this road goes. Like, besides the different outposts. Does it stretch farther, back to earth or something?"

“If it does, it’s not like you can reach anywhere. There are a few spots in the road where you can’t walk. From what I’ve heard, anyway. I haven’t actually seen them. I was walking in the opposite direction, but I guess if you keep walking straight, there’s a point you can’t pass. I’m curious, though,” He glanced at Eric. “…Don’t you think scientists or someone would notice if there was a solid rainbow road leading from Earth into space? I mean. Come on,” he said, giving him a judgmental look. “They’d be all over it if it existed. Anyway. I imagine it’d be a hell of a long walk, even if it did exist. I don’t see a planet that looks even remotely close. Earth or not.”

Nothing sans the outposts seemed to be in walking distance—and even then, it was a pain to walk from place to place.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 13, 2011 12:51 pm

"Right"

He said, drawing out the sound to bridge his thought.

"But its not like any of this makes any scientific sense anyway. I mean, giant magical space whales arent something they teach you about in grade school. Even the people who are saying the know whats going on don't seem to know whats going on, its possible this road is brand freaking new and all the scientists back home are in a tizzy about it. I mean, if were so far from earth, how did we even get here in the first place?"

Exasperated, Jett nearly threw his hands into the air. “I don’t know, magic. You know what? Maybe someone at Leo will have some better answers for you. We’re almost there. I think.”

And, so far so good—no sign of any sort of space monsters. Which was certainly putting Jett into a better mood, but he’d learned that it didn’t really matter if it looked safe, because apparently even walls were s**t to protect against something when it wanted to hurt you.

He wanted to go back to talking about simple things that made sense—music, he didn’t really appreciate, but could understand. Even talking about his mother was better than talking about this.

He hunched forward a bit more, grumpy with questions that he didn’t have the answers to. “…You tell me if you find out anything interesting, all right? …You seem like the kind of guy who likes to run his mouth, so go ask lots of questions and tell me what people tell you.”

Jett wasn’t entirely sure that was a good idea, considering Eric clearly had some sort of language barrier if he was walking around, talking about ‘sushis’, but if it got him to stop asking questions and got Jett a few more answers, sure. He could deal with Eric again.
